A Journal of Sorts

It is difficult to keep track of a story to which there is no end, but then, that is the nature of our demise. Eternity stretches forth her arms into the infinite, and we can only wander forward into the darkness, never knowing where the winds shall take us, never sure of our footing.
Would that I were like Dante. He seems to know everything, he seems so sure of life, of where he is going. Perhaps it is his age, or perhaps he feels the same as the rest of us and does not show it.
Still what would my journal entry be without documenting the comings and going of Jack. To meet him finally is both thrilling and disappointing. It is not that I find him disappointing, but that the mystery has been snatched away somewhat. Much as I seek answers, it is the search for them that drives me on. I crave to know everything, and that is what keeps me sane in this tumultuous world. Oscar Wilde once said "I am too young to know everything." I hope that he is right, I cannot think of anything more tedious than to know everything. Some call that enlightenment, I call it boredom.
Perhaps I am, as Dante says, a curious creature, in both senses of the phrase, but I can only seek to be that which I am, and to remain that way, keeping a firm foothold on the cliffs of sanity that stretch on with eternity.
