"Stupid." Chase was muttering under her breath as she leaned against the wall of the warehouse. Industrial techno made the whole place seem to vibrate. Chase couldn't remember why she had used to like it here. On her one free night this week she had t hought it would be fun to visit one of her old haunts. But 5 years later this place didn't hold the same appeal for her it once did. She had known the moment she walked in that she didn't belong here anymore. Clean for nearly that amount of time. All this place was was a drug den with loud music and flashing lights, all the better to get your trip on, and coming here was not nearly as entertaining as Chase remembered it to be. Damn drugs. But since she had trekked all the way out here she thought it wasted to just leave. So she told herself she would get one beer. And prove to herself she never had to come back here. Well now she was finishing that last swig of beer she dropped the empty bottle onto a waitress, who was passing by, tray and turned to head for the exit. Before she could make it out though she found herself boxed in by three guys who pinned her to the wall. She knew one of them. She groaned. "Where you going so fast chickie? I'm sure I got something that you want." He said Chase rolled her eyes and pushed him away. "Not tonight spider. Not interested." She said. Spider looked confused. "I know you?" "You used to." Chase said moving to squeeze between him and the wall but he held up his arm blocking her. "You goin to someone else now that it? You should know I don't like that." He said as he produced a switchblade from his jacket pocket. Chase rolled her eyes again. "No one else got my business Spider. I cleaned up. That's all now get the fuck out of my way. You know your two stoned to even use that thing." She said as she went to push him aside. Only to have one of his goons grab her and slam her against the wall. "HEY Nutsack... I ain't done nothin to you and I g ot nothin for ya." She quipped. (Anyone ? Anyone wanna be another bad boy bring it on... wanna be a savior? Wanna just interact? Anyone?) |

Mordeth had heard from someone in Cafe 69 that The Warehouse was a kickass rave right smack-dab in the middle of werewolf territory. Mordeth had had experiences with lycanthropes before, and had found them to be contemptible, pitiful beasts, slavering and drooling at the moon, biting each other more often than biting a collective enemy. However he was almost out of opium, and some vieled questions to the raver in Cafe 69 had revealed that the Warehouse had anything he could ask for. So, he had decided to go. He wasn't surprised at what he saw, a mass of sweating bodies grinding in time to the beats of a mix-machine gone mad. The mana was flying, the magical energies heightened by the bacchanalian dance. Mordeth shook his head, fools, he thought, throwing around their mana as if it were feces. He drank deep of it and felt alive, electrified. To his horror, his found his foot tapping. The siren song of the electronica urging him to lose control. To dance and move, to let go of his power and release it into the ocean of magic that was building in that place. Mordeth pulled a straight-razor nonchalantly out of his coat-pocket and proceeded to cut himself quickly on the arm. There, that was better. Nothing like good, old-fashioned discipline. Placing the razor back in his pocket he sauntered up to the bar. "What do you want?" The bulking barman said, giving a sneering look at Mordeth's pristine suit. Mordeth smiled, taking off his blazer and slinging it over the back of the barseat, sitting down and rolling up his sleeves as he said, "I, my good man, would like a glass of your best merlot, or perhaps a Pinot Noir if your," He paused, looking around with a contemptuous glance, "establishment carries such a thing." The bartender glanced down at Mordeth's tattooed arms, obviously disturbed at what he saw. With a servile duck of his head the bartender said, "We got wine. Anything else for you, sir?" Mordeth smiled and said, "Why no, thank you." The bartender let out a breath of relief and ran to pour the wine. He had not like the way those tattoos seemed to twist and pulsate on that guy's arms, and if he wasn't mistaken, that guy had a human finger hanging from one of his bracelets! Mordeth sipped his wine, a cheap merlot, nothing special, but not horrible, and thank the Gods it wasn't chilled! He examined the undulating crowds, taking it in with a col, calculating, reptilian gaze. The pushers were out there, somewhere, and Mordeth would see them eventually. He hadn't slept in two nights, and was desperately in need of his stuff. Perhaps he would get lucky and they would even have his favorite brand. . .Blue Lotus. Mordeth snorted into his wine, right, as if that would ever happen. Suddenly he heard shouting, his sensitive ears picking up the sound of a blade being flicked out. He looked in the direction of the sounds and saw a woman being manhandled by three goons. Mordeth watched, fascinated. Were these cretins truly stupid enough to attempt to rape this woman in the middle of a dance club? He looked around quickly. No one seemed to notice the altercation near the front door. With a sip of his wine, Mordeth turned to look back at the girl and her persecuters. The goons were getting rough. Mordeth lit a cigarette and stood up from his seat. He couldn't care less if those bullies slit the girl's throat right there. He didn't care that she was outnumbered. But dammit the grinding dance-beat was annoying enough, he really couldn't abide to hear their noise along with it! "Excuse me." He said, his voice like razor-silk, "But you are disturbing my enjoyment of the show." |

Spider was grinning his wicked grin as someone spoke from behind him. He turned on the man knife still out. "Unless you're interested in buying you have no business over here friend. Turn around and go back to your fucking show and leave us be. We ain't disturbing you." Spider intoned. Chase meanwhile was not going to lazily let these goons manhandle her. Running and cowering from the vampires and were's were one thing. But she knew Spider and his men were nothing more then toked up humans. She kicked at the one holding her connecting with his thigh but not quiet high enough to be painful enough. He slammed her head back against the wall again. She was really tired of being tossed around like nothing. "Missed hun." He sneered. Chase sighed and rolled her eyes. Trying to get over the fact that she wasn't impressed even though her head was ringing. "You guys must be seriously jacked up. I haven't used in 5 years and now your bothering me about losing my business get a fucking life." Chase suddenly twisted in the goons grip while Spider was distracted with the newcomer. She thrust the heel of her hand into the goons neck hoping to bruise his windpipe as she twisted. The goon lost his grip on her as he lost his air and Chase stood. She wasn't about to run. They so weren't worth so she started to just walk away when spider grabbed her wrist. "Ohh wait wait luv. Let's see what your friend here has to say. Sayin were distrubing him. If he's buying your free to leave. If he ain't I plan on disturbing him more. And I guess tossing you around seems to disturb him." Spider chuckled. Chase groaned her free hand starting to form a fist but just as she was about to throw it goon number two grabbed her arm twisted it behind her back and pushed her face first into the wall and pinned her there. "See friend no one else around here cares. They know I'm the top business man here. Or there too wasted to notice. So I say it's time you either get wasted...." he suddenly sneered. "Or get wasted." |

Mordeth burst into riotous laughter, shaking with hilarity as tears rolled down his face, "Hah, oh, oh my, I'm - HAH - so sorry, my man. You see," he said, sobering in an instant as if he hadn't just been guffawing, "You roughing her up does not bother me a whit. However, your sneering attitude does. I did indeed come to this warehouse to buy. . .something. . .but I think I can do better than dealing with a mongrel cur like yourself." Mordeth flipped a piece of his ungelled white mohawk out of his eyes. He noticed the goons eyeing his twisting, pulsating tattoos nervously. Mordeth took a drag on his cigarette and said, "So, slug, what are you selling?" |

Chase rolled her eyes as the guy laughed. Well at least he had spider pegged right. Chase squirmed in the goons grip but then was forced make a whimper as the good twisted her arm to force her to quit squirming. Chase couldn't see what was going on behind her could only hear. She really hated being at another's mercy. Goon # 2 leaned in against her back. Making her whimper as he twisted her arm more. "He your boyfriend? You get matching tatoos?" The goon sneered. Since chase he her whole right arm covered in tattoos. "You really shouldna quit... Spiders got some good shit. Swear looks like his are dancing... but yours..." He jerked her arm again pulling another whimper from her lips. "Yours don't dance for me." It was spider's turn to laugh as first the guy mocked him then asked to do business. "Names Spider not slug. And what are you looking for. I carry all major hitters. Uppers, downers, meth, coke, heroin, special k. If your just looking for preppy boy weed go see Giselle on the otherside. That shits beneath me." He said. Not phazed at all by the guys moving tatoos. Spider was constantly high and he was used to things that shouldn't move moving, or colors shifting... or pretty much anything. He needed so much to get doped up now. |

Mordeth smirked at "Spider". This big boy needed to be taken down a notch. . .badly. Under normal circumstances Mordeth would have simply hexed the dolt so hard he wouldn't be able to find his ass with both hands and a flashlight, but he needed his stuff. It was impossible for him to sleep without a good toke of opium before bed. But perhaps there was a way to teach this drooling doper a lesson and still get his Blue Lotus. Mordeth smiled predatorily and said, "Well, Spider I came looking for a high grade brand of opium called Blue Lotus. . .ever heard of it? "Spider. . .interesting name. Tell me, do you like spiders? I hate them personally, but they seem to love me dearly." Mordeth smiled as he saw a horde of the clicking arachnids scuttering down the steel walls behind Spider and his goons. Supressing a phobic shudder, he smiled instead as the spiders began to crawl up the pusher's legs. "You see, my good man, they listen to me and they love me. They have always obeyed my commands. The little creatures that are even now skittering up your pants legs are some of the most poisonous in the world. A bite from one of them would kill you in twenty-four hours without treatment, however, a bite from several hundred? Well, death would surely be instantaneous." Mordeth smiled again, and before Spider could start, Mordeth said, "I would keep very still if I were you. They have orders from me not to bite until I say so. . .but if your flesh quivers too temptingly. . .well. . .they love me but they can be rebellious at times. . ." Mordeth sent a quick grin in the direction of the girl, and locked eyes with Spider again. |

Spider laughed. OPium was such an old man's drug. He'd heard of blue lotus. Even knew where he could get some but he didn't have any on him. "Don't you..." He started but then the guy started babbling on. Chase pressed against the wall heard the clicks of thousands of little legs coming down the metal covered walls. She tilted her head back and squeaked as she saw the swarm of spiders coming down the wall. She hated Spiders. She closed her eyes as they started coming closer. Flinching waiting to feel there little legs all over her. She wondered if this guy was a Vamp, with Spiders as his 'animal' to call. It was the only explanation she could form in her mind. She wasn't even hearing what the guy was saying behind her as she waited for the flow of spider legs over her. But they never came. SHe opened her eyes and realized they were going around her. Then she heard the grunts of the goon that had been holding her. She realized she wasn't being held to the wall anymore. She stepped back and turned around careful not to step on any of the swarming spiders. She watched them crawling up Spider as the goon beside her tried to shake some of them off them. What the hell? Spider felt them starting to crawl up his body he started squirming trying to shake them off when weirdo told him he was controlling them and they could kill him he froze. "Your nutso... I don't have blue lotus. Not on me. But I can get it. Ok... Geezus man. No need for theatrics. Get them the fuck off me." Spider pleaded. Completely forgetting about Chase. Chase was staring at the stranger when he gave her a look. She didn't know whether to be appreciative or mortified. When she realized he was doing this maybe to horn in on Spiders product Chase had had enough. She sorta agreed with SPider. The guy was a little nuts. And had someone slipped her something or were his tatoo's moving. Chase shook her head and started moving away from the group of men. She so obviously didn't belong here. Not even a thank you from her lips. |

Mordeth watched nonchalantly as the girl left, slinking into the shadows as if she were Mother Night's own daughter. He smiled secretively and then said to Spider, "Now then, about that Blue Lotus. You can get it, yes? You're not too inept I hope. Well then, I will return in two nights time. I will await you at the bar. You will not adress me directly, you will order a drink. You will say these words and these words exactly if you came through and managed to find my desired product, 'nice fuckin' night eh?'. To which I will reply, 'yes, it is indeed. How is your water garden?'. Do you follow?" Mordeth did not wait for Spider to respond, he continued, "Let me tell you, Spider. . .my arachnid friends are only a portion of what I can do, and unless you wish to find out all the delightfully agonizing treats I have hidden up my sleeve, then I suggest you put any thoughts of vengeance out of your mind. I wish to buy my product, and be done with you. Once I have my supply, you may go about your merry way, and forget I ever shamed you in front of your. . .men ." Mordeth smirked, causing his hideous scar on each side of his mouth to crinkle and fold, drawing the smile into an unnatural grimace that promised only unimaginable torment and death. "Do we have a deal?" He asked, extending a skeletal hand. The charms and amulets around his wrist winked and shimmered in the gyrating dance lights, "Shall we shake on it?" Another lunatic smirk. |

Chase melded into the group of people exiting the club. Knowing she would never need to realive old memories by coming back here again. In a way she was glad she had come back. So that she would never have to wonder again. Spider stared at the man as he gave his instructions of how things were run. He was afraid to move feeling every little leg crawling over his body. He was shaking and that he couldn't help. He might have pissed himself but that too he was trying to control. "Yeah... Yeah... I got it I got it." Spider intoned though already he was thinking about how to fuck this guy up. His eyes narrowed as the guy went on to intone how Spider better not double cross him. He sneered slightly, not liking that the guy seemed to know what he was thinking. "Shit." Spider cursed as he looked down at the extended hand. The charms the thin bony fingers. This guy was definatly one of the others. Slowly spider extended his hand. Afraid at any moment he would get bit . "Deal mother fucker alright fucking deal. You didn't have to go about it this way ass wipe. I'm a mother fucking dealer. You coulda just asked and gotten your shit. Once we do this deal though I'm done with you. You find your shit somewhere else." Spider said as he put his hand in the man's and shook it weakly and gently. |

Mordeth walked away from Spider, holding his gaze along as the angle would allow, still grinning that demonic puppet smile. As he disappeared into the crowds, the spiders receeded, darting into the shadows and scurrying up the walls, some of them attacking each other in disappointment at losing such a large and tasty morsel of sweating, panicked flesh. Mordeth walked out of the noise of the Warehouse, and into the comparitive quiet of the city night. He donned his tophat, leaving his blazer slung over his shoulder, and whistled a doggerell as he lit another black clove cigarette. He inhaled the thick smoke meditatively, turning his head and looking with hooded eyes at a lone figure walking towards a car. |

Chase was mumbling to herself as she unclipped her keys from the belt loop. Sometimes she wondered how she got where she was in life. She wondered what would have happened if she had stayed home when her parents had gave her that ultamitum. Would she have finished school gone to college even be married now. Or would she still have rebelled at one point. Found her self fascinated with the dead and undead. "You're fine. You're doing fine. You are who you are." She mumbled as she pushed the key into the door of her 1989 galant. Peice of Shit car. Accustom to the loud squeak of the door opening it didn't even phaze her anymore as she opened the drivers side door. |

Mordeth watched for a moment longer, his mind rapidly calculating and dissecting his own intentions. Just why in the Nine Hells did he want to approach this. . .girl? What did he hope to learn? She wasn't the sort he usually mixed with, but there was something. . .a glimmer, a pulse, beating softly and slowly. . .but what was it? He had encountered people who were naturals with the Powers. . .but he wasn't so sure that was it. Exhaling smoke from his nostrils like some underfed dragon in human form, he decided he needed to move quickly. He could move with the speed of a striking snake when he so desired, and he was a mere few paces away from the girl in what would have seemed like the blink of an eye to a bystander. "Pardon me. . ." He said silkily, reaching out to her aura with tentacle-like protrusions only a Sensitive could see or sense. The extensions sniffed and pawed around her energy field, seeking, searching for that strange, singular. . . glimmer. |

Making her jump and lean against her car the door pulled in against her slightly as if it would sheild her. "What do you want?" Chase snapped. The best defense she had was her sarcasm and biting personality. "I'm sorry you scared me. Uhhh. you want a thanks for back there. Fine thanks." Chase said swiftly, after her recovery. She then noticed the 'joker' like scars on his face. Jeez this guy was toe up. |

"Actually, no thanks are needed. Chase's eyes grew a little wide. And she snorted a little bit in laughter at his name. She covered her mouth trying to hide her grin. "I'm sorry. More Death is your name? That's sure to instill fear in the heart of men." Chase said from behind her hand. She seemed unphazed though as to his age as maybe most humans, or some humans would be. She wanted to ask what exactly he was, she assumed Vamp now that he had given his age. But as many Vamps as Chase had dealt with something about him didn't seem Vampish enough. Before she could be her usual nosey and not caring self he asked what she did. She stared at him a minute suddenly wondering if he was trying to pick her up. She pushed some of her tri colored hair back out of her face. "I work at a joint called Carnal Needs. Cocktail waitressing mostly, or doing whatever the boss lady asks of me." Chase said nonchalantly with a shrug. She was oblivious to the medallion he was rubbing she was still keeping herself trapped behind the car door. Keeping it between him and her. She didn't ask what he did. Somehow she thought she wouldn't be thrilled with or understand the answer. So she just stood there kinda awkwardly. Suddenly wishing she had waited till Eli had had a night off too to come here. Second guessing her decision again. |

Mordeth nodded, he had heard of Carnal Needs, had been meaning to visit sometime even. He smiled back at her jibe at his name, saying, "I have seen more death than you know, travelling even into the chaotic blackness that meets every soul after exiting the mortal frame. There are mad things, gibbering lunatic monsters that dwell in those darkling depths. But anyhow, I know you were avoiding asking me what I do, no don't look so surprised. I can read minds sometimes, but it took no psychic to see that you wish for me to disappear and leave you the fuck alone. I understand that, you see, I am somewhat of a researcher of Fear. You are an interesting case. You buffer yourself from fear with your cutting sarcasm, turning everything on it's end and disassociating from it until it no longer has power over you. Fascinating. However, by doing so you are cheating yourself of Enlightenment." He grinned somewhat maliciously and seemingly changing the subject, said, "Are you in school then?" |

Ok this guy was probably wack-a-do. Chase thought to herself as he spoke of seeing the dead. Or he was a necromancer of somesort. Probably someone Tempest would find interesting. But she had learned her lesson about bringing people she thought Tempest would find interesting to her attention. She shrugged as he commented to her about how she avoided what he did and told her not to look surprised. She tried not to. Less and less was starting to surprise her lately. Especially after seeing a dragon. She narrowed her eyes though as he admitted to reading minds sometimes. That couldn't be good. "It's not polite to invade someone's thoughts." She blurted out in the middle of his diatribe. But her utterance didn't seem to stop him. She looked a little confused as he tried to wrap her up ina nutshell with the way she dealt with things. "I'm sorry you want me to just curl up..." She started to say then he cut her off by totally changing the subject. Her brow knitted further into confusion as she tried to understand him. Did she look that young. Most didn't think she was in school anymore. The fact that she was taking the long way through it was ... well just the facts. "I have a sudden urge not to tell you anything more. Somehow I think giving you too much information could be unbeneficial to my health. Why do you care so much what I do? Look thank you for saving my ass back there. Spider I can handle but his cokeheads are another story. I thanked you. What else do you want of me?" Chase suddenly bit back. Mordeth snickered and said nothing for a moment and then said, "Of course it's not polite. . .but very few things I do out of some numinous urge to be. . .polite; unless of course it is going to get me something I need." He grinned, "Someone in my profession. . .a Fear Doctor for lack of a better term, cannot afford to be polite very much of the time. Was it polite, then, when I caused a high-society gentleman to literally shit his suit-pants at a soiree in New Orleans? I assure you his shame shall haunt him to the grave. When I was done mind-fucking him he was nothing more than a quivering ball of flesh drizzling snot all over his three-thousand dollar Armani suit, pissing himself like a cornered mutt. However, he now has something you do not, dearest Chase of Carnal Needs." He smiled a bit at the accidental double entendre, and then continued, "For a moment he embraced the knowledge that he was nothing more than a piece of shit floating in a river of refuse. He understood in that snotty, pissing, beshatted moment that none of us are unique or special, and that we will all die." He looked at Chase, still desperately feeling with his aura for that glimmer. "His beautifully pretencious world was destroyed in the moment that his bowels let go in front of that crowd of high-fallutin socialites," His cultured voice had impercetibly shifted to a deep-south twang as he continued, "Praise the Lord and pass the gravy !" |

Chase made an eww face as he spoke of causing a man to defecate on himself in public. Ohh yeah this was so not a guy Chase was interested in knowing, and yet again, someone Tempest would love to have in her stable. SHe got a little idignant though as he spoke of them all being the same. She rolled her eyes. "Your view of humanity is to narrow then my friend. We are all unique onto ourselves. Dying is only something we have in common. It does not define us human coils. And then some of us... do not even die." She said indicating Mordeth himself. "Is that what you truly hunt. Your own uniqueness." Chase bit back. She may look like some goth punk chick but she had a bit of a head on her shoulders. And unfortunatly a bit of a mouth that got her into trouble on more then one occasion as well. "I think we're done here. Mordeth could not supress a giggle to himself as he examined his pocketwatch for the time. That girl was fascinating. She reminded him of himself one hundred and twenty years ago! How refreshing. She was going to be a pleasure to terrorize until her fear slicked her skin, baking off for his consumption. Yes, she would be a hard nut to break, which would make her abject terror even more precious . . .delicious. His watch said it was either very late, or very early, depending on one's point of view. For an insomniac, time takes on a ghostly, transient aspect. An insomniac never really knows what time of day it is. . .nor does he care. He is lost in a strange fog, in a Betwixt and Between place, neither sleeping nor waking. Gods he needed his opium. Well, time to get back to his drink in the club. Perhaps he could drink enough wine to pass the fuck out. . .most likely not, but worth a try. With a final, hungry glance down the littered street Chase's car had disappeared down, he allowed himself to be swallowed by the beating chaos within the Warehouse once more. |
