You have absolutely no idea what happened. All you know now is that you're on some sort of rocky landmass that's ever so slowly starting to crumble apart. Not fast enough to endanger you, but at a rate quick enough to plunge you into that neverending abyss that surrounds everywhere else if you stand there and do nothing, expecting someone else to rescue you.

There's only one path forward right now. It looks like it leads to a much larger central landmass. There's a pillar of light at the center of the mass extending upward. You're sure it'll last long enough to leisurely walk through. There's scarcely any sound...

...save for the strange, amorphic spirits floating around, glaring at you.

Rhodey engaged the flight systems in the War Machine Suit and zoomed over the pillar of light, just in case it was less solid than it looked. At the same time he also attempted to send a Message to Tony. "Tony man, I need some help here. Or at least backup. No idea of co-ordinates or if you'll even get this message so Try and Find me soon as you can."

Rhodey attempted to send his message to Tony Stark. There was a signal nearby. Perhaps that signal could be used as a relay to Tony?

"Rhodey, is that you?" a feminine voice rang through the helmet. "Oh thank God, I don't know what the hell's going on here. The ghosts are hostile, watch out!"

And it was at this moment that Rhodey noticed a pair of ghosts flanking him in mid-flight, malicious intent written all over their face. Well then.

BATTLE!

Player Party:

War Machine
Current Level: 1
HP: 336
Attack: 134
Defense: 102
Magic: 35
Magic Defense: 53
Agility: 53

Enemy Party:

Malevolent Fire Spirit:
Current Level: 1
HP: 244
All Other Stats: 57

Malevolent Light Spirit:

First Strikes

Fire Spirit:

Light Spirit:

Immediately the spirits charged Rhodey, slamming into him full force.

Or at least he thought it was full force. It sure looked like it, but the actual impact was barely significant. (18 total damage!)

War Machine: 318/336 HP

ENEMY PHASE

Before Rhodey could make a smart-assed remark, the two spirits started to glow, then flung forward blasts of fire and light. These blasts connected with the armor, leaving a much more noticeable impact. (72 total damage!)

War Machine: 246/336 HP
Fire Spirit: 244/244 HP
Light Spirit: 244/244 HP

WAR MACHINE PHASE

Damage estimates appeared on Rhodey's interface. It stated the usual damage, then factored in some environmental bullcrap that roughly tripled the result. Rhodey was looking at 117 damage with his machine gun should he attack. Good, but not good enough. Perhaps he needed to analyze the situation more thoroughly before making his move...

"Pepper? Is that you? I'm being attacked by two strange energy creatures!" Rhodey was desperate. No real choice but the machine gun. If he was lucky he might hit in a weak point, unlikely as it was. He didn't want to have to use the temporary upgrade to the Iron Patriot Armour unless absolutely necessary.

"Oh thank God, it is you! Yes, this is Pepper!" she replied. "Hold on, I'm on my way!"

There seemed to be no weak point. The machine gun did just as much damage as calculated to the Fire Spirit.

ENEMY PHASE

Two more blasts of magic slammed into the armor. 72 more damage. The armor was starting to show signs of damage.

War Machine: 174/336 HP
Fire Spirit: 127/244 HP
Light Spirit: 244/244 HP

Bang bang. 117 more damage to the Fire Spirit. It looked incredibly woozy.

ENEMY PHASE

The Light Spirit hurled a blast of magic at Rhodey for 36 damage. Ouch!

The Fire Spirit moved to attack...

RESCUE PHASE

...only for another suit of armor to fly almost out of nowhere and plow into the Fire Spirit, knocking it into the abyss. (15 damage! KO!)

"I'm here, Rhodey! Are you alright?" Pepper asked.

War Machine: 138/336 HP
Rescue: 282/282 HP
Fire Spirit: KO!
Light Spirit: 244/244 HP

List of learned abilities:
Level 5: Flyby Attack (20 uses) – 40 BP – 95 ACC – Physical Attack – Smashes into up to two enemies with shields raised. Knocks the enemy Off Balance, preventing them from counterattacking for 2 turns. Deals double damage if Rescue has a shield or a damage-reducing effect active.
Level 10: Reconstruction Matrix (5 uses) – Forms a shield around a row of allies equal to 20% of Rescue's HP. While the shield is still active, allies are healed every turn as if Rescue used Cure.

Rat-a-tat-tat. The Light Spirit took 117 damage.

Pepper moved in front of Rhodey to intercept the attack. (Provoke!)

ENEMY PHASE

The Light Spirit threw out a blast of light at Pepper. It bounced off a shield she had thrown up. (9 damage!)

War Machine: 138/336 HP
Rescue: 273/282 HP
Light Spirit: 127/244 HP

WAR MACHINE PHASE

"What should I do, Rhodey?" Pepper asked.

"I don't remember anything, Rhodey," Pepper replied. "I was just taking the armor out for routine testing, and before I knew it, I ended up here. What's happening?"

Ahead, there were three more spirits. It looked like they had not noticed the two of them yet. It was Rhodey's call on what to do now.

Rhodey sent a image to Pepper's screen suggesting that they sneak around the spirits by flying just out of hearing range. It might not work but it was worth a try. If not, they'd do it the hard way... Full of Dakka.

The two carefully managed to bypass the encounter, leaving the ghosts far behind.

Victory!

The party earned 100 exp!

Ahead was the source of light. There were sounds of battle elsewhere though. Rhodey could investigate the light or the battles.
