Well, sometimes you get stuff that tries too hard. Disgaea is arguably a game like that, some people find it to be a refreshing break from the standard cookie-cutter RPG plot, others take to it as a mockery.

I found it to be somewhat enjoyable, but maybe that's a bit too extreme of an example. Some games subvert that chart very subtly.
