About 2 years ago, my Privateer, powered by a rare Stalker 42, came into the circle on the second triangle! Did sort of wingover, and planted the nose on the tarmac!! The first thought, 'Please, don't damage the engine!' What a relief! The engine was ok. The model, well, the whole nose section came off, broke at the spar area, L E broke at two places, one spar and T E broke and of course, front portion of the center sheeting was crushed.
I was very happy that the engine was not damaged.
Did not bother to repair the model, until I was encouraged by Al Rabe and a few other grand masters, who have repaired more serious damaged models; I have read about them from SSW, Stunt Hangar and Hanger Flying forums.
I am still on medical leave, so I have decided to repair it. Voila! The Privateer will be doing its second maiden flight this weekend! This time it is powered by LA 46.
I have recently learnt that Stalker engines are low in power but I know they do a good 4 2 run. The previous model it had powered was a Forerunner, which has inboard mounted engine and tank!
See you this weekend.

Flew the 2nd life Privateer last two weekends. Previous weekend, I had use .018" x 60' lines and was kind of draggy. Last weekend, .015" x 60' lines were used, yep, it was flying fine. Love it. This LA 46 is my first one and is about 9 or 10 years old. It has been abused. Used an 8x6 prop on an Allen plane! One flight and the engine seized! Over reved! :'( Heck, it is not an expensive engine. Left it for a few months, then have been using it regularly.
The secret? Well, I always use more than required oil content. In this case, 23%. With more than half is castor.
Now I have still got another 5 LA 46's to last me a lifetime!!

Have fun.
