A new toy made this afternoon... gosh... i am very slow... spent 4 hours on it... yet to fuel proof..

It seems to enjoy inverted flight more... snore... First attempt on chuck gliders... more to come...

Feel free to post your experiences on chuck gliders... and of course any comments to improve on this glider before i start my second try...

There might be a slight warp on your wing, this may cause the plane to roll over.
Is your tail plane neutral or on "down elevator"?
The CG should be approximately on the high point of your airfoil.
You don't need to fuel proof the chuck glider... it only adds weight.
Perhaps a "high wing design" will be more stable.

Hi Mr Simon,

Yes was suspecting the warp.. ^o)

Tail plane is neutral. CG at the high point? but now the CG is quite far back on the wing... I added more blue tack on the head, but the glider dived down...

Maybe the wing should have been made longer... haha, shall try the high wing in the second attempt..

It needs more dihedral. Yes, high wing setup is correct, a bigger fin would be ok. Use a sort of Clark Y airfoil, ie. flat at bottom surface, curve on top, 30% h p , c g about 40% chord.

Hi Joyce,
l would guess yours will be a hand-launched (ie, chucked) glider since l don't see a provision for attaching a catapult at the nose.
There is a new way of launching gliders, known as DLG or discus launched glider. Needs practice, and you get a very high launch height.
The glider itself also has to be strengthen to take the extra stress of the launch, plus it requires a finger grip at the LH wing tip (assuming right hand launch).

DLGs tend to be a bit bigger than normal HLGs. Traditional HLG launching is a tough skill to learn, don't know about DLG technique (RC DLGs look easy, though). I have a DLG plan somewhere - came in a magazine last year.

The Indonesians have some really BIG HLG contests - dozens and dozens of juniors. The top Open fliers use some real high tech ones - button DT timers, carbon tube booms, etc.

A new toy.... Duck Hunter
This toy marketed by Interactive Toy company provides many hours of fun. Powered by two AAA cells located in the gun provides a 10 second charge to the flying duck giving a flight duration of 30-40 seconds
after takeoff, try to shoot it down with the gun provided. 3 hits will bring the flying duck down,

DLG gliders seem to be kicking some trend in Singapore. Singapore Hobbies members have been actively exploring DLGs and are opening an invitation for a Saturday to exchange flights.

We will share with them what control line is all about and at the same time, they will explore with us DLGs too. But it has to be on Saturday, as most of their members have church on Sunday. Do let me know, so that i can make the arrangement
