I haven't done much in the way of shopping on my trip to Ottawa, but I did make it downtown yesterday and into a gaming shop that was recommended to me by Vong, Fandom II. There were many treasures to be found within its walls, but one in particular caught my attention and I did not egress through its portal without the treasure in hand. Sitting on a shelf above the rather mundane D&D 4e books I spotted a small black-bound hardcover book with gold leaf embossed lettering, the title bearing The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen - A Game of Telling Tales & Playing Roles.

I picked up the small, unassuming black book and flipped it over to read:
"Back cover"

Baron Munchausen regrets that there is not sufficient space here to describe his renowned game, but gives his word that any GENTLEMAN who cares to open the cover and inspect the contents shall be amused and edified.  He cannot, however, make the same assurance to LADIES and members of the LOWER CLASSES unless by some good fortune they have learned to read, and perhaps not even then.

Amused, I continued in earnest to open the cover and inspect its contents. Indeed, I continued to feel amused... perhaps even edified by what I found in my swift perusal. I am sure a greater sense of edification will be imparted upon a more thorough reading of the book.

Basically, the game is a tale telling game, in which you play the role of a gentleman recounting his adventures to his fellows, trying to boast the most amazing tale of adventure and glory without being declared a braggart and liar. It's a somewhat more cerebral RPG than most games I've ever encountered, and it's one of the first I've found that does not use any dice whatsoever. The idea seems simple enough and like a lot of fun.

"Summary from ISBNDB.com"

Players compete to outdo each other's feats of mad heroism and surreal derring-do in this unique and hilarious RPG, written by Baron Munchausen himself. With simple rules, fantastic artwork and more than 200 ready-to-use adventures, this game has been a cult classic since its release in 1998, but has been unavailable for six years.
This new edition is more than double the length of the original and contains an expansion to the rules as well as a completely new game, 'My Uncle the Baron', designed for children, the inbred and those who are very drunk. It also has insults against the citizens of many nations, but principally the French.
In Real Life ™, people who aim to maximize their potential for lethality are called "dangerous psychotics" and are typically avoided by everyone who isn't forced to endure their company until someone has the opportunity to put them away or else put them down. No one likes that guy. Don't play that guy.

Adaptable to the forums here? Sounds like a very fun casual game!

Yeah, I actually figure the only way it will actually be played is to use it as an improv exercise. It lends itself to it quite nicely.

Not really.
There's no reason why tales couldn't be told, but the whole system of interruption and building/blocking by other players would be impossible. The other important element, the element of wit and improvisational thought, would be lost when players have time to compose their thoughts and tale.

So, while interesting tales could be told through a messageboard, the character and point of the game would be lost.
