Alrighty, in preparation for this weeks gaming session extravaganza, some setting info as promised. I encourage you to use this info when fleshing out your character's background, contacts, other perks, and disadvantages. Year 2002 Place Paragon City, Rhode Island,USA Paragon City, like many major cities, is broken into many smaller communities: Atlas Park Atlas Park—named after the World War II hero Atlas who stopped the Nazi invasion of Paragon City at the cost of his own life—is the civic center of the city. At the center of the zone, amidst carefully cultivated gardens, sits City Hall. Atlas Park is, to many, the heart and soul of Paragon City. Though Atlas Park is frequently touted as the safest zone in the city (which it is), it still has a troubling crime rate. Though archvillains, mastermind criminals, and dimensional terrors are almost never seen in the zone, it is far more common to see a petty thug who has slipped into the area and started up a one-man crime wave. King's Row Kings Row is an industrial and residential area far past its prime. Most of the buildings date from before the Great Depression, and show it. The citizens of Kings Row mostly work at low-paying manufacturing jobs in old-fashioned factories like the King Garment Works. The living conditions are barely above tenement quality. In recent years Kings Row has seen some new development, and shows signs of pulling out of its decades-long slump. However, progress is held back by the Skulls, the gang that makes this area its primary turf. Steel Canyon As the financial heart of Paragon City, Steel Canyon is packed with skyscrapers. Skyway City (No paragon wiki entry for me to copy) The transportation hub of Paragon, the freeway runs through here... more accurately over here. All roads lead to skyway, and all roads pass over skyway, the city beneath the overpass. Skyway is home to the sewage system mains, the airport, and the transport authority. It's kind of reminiscent of the Vogon homeworld. Talos Island A Coney Island sort of resort area just of the Paragon Coast. Independence Port Where all cargo coming into and out of Paragon must pass through. A massive super port, more than completely controlled by the mafia. In the bay of IP lies the Terra Volta Nuclear plant. Brickstown The location of Crey Industries headquarters and the Zigurat FBSA Super Prison. Founder's Falls A Venetian area, the city on the lake lies below Founder's Falls and is the oldest part of Paragon City. Overbrook A largely residential area, it also contains the Dam and reservoir that feeds the cities water system. Eastgate Hights A largely residential area. Croatoa A small town to the North of the City and the location of the Paragon City University. Peregrine Island Location of the Portal Corp research facility. Far off the coast of Talos Island. |

Notable groups Freedom Phalanx Despite any public or political pressure, the Freedom Phalanx continues to battle any threat to humankind and remains "the world’s premiere independent hero organization. They still make it a firm policy to have no official ties to any government or law enforcement institution. They are one of the most open organizations in existence, allowing any would-be hero to volunteer for service with the esteemed group. Unlike other groups, the Freedom Phalanx is entirely open about everything, from its membership to its funding and current activities. This frankness carries through on down to the lowest levels, where even beginning heroes must reveal their true identities and pasts to the organization and the world. Statesman takes great pride in these 'sunshine' policies', saying they go a long way towards inspiring confidence in the Freedom Phalanx’s personnel and motives. TBC via edit later. |
