Some magical folk have special powers which allow them to do things most Wizards can't do. These magical abilities can be learned in some cases, such as the complicated magic required to become an Animagus. Other such abilities cannot be learned; the Wizard must be born with the powers. Legilimens -- can be learned A Legilimens is a Wizard who has learned the art of Legilimency, sensing the thoughts of another person. Dumbledore and Snape were both experts at this form of magic. Voldemort was also an accomplished Legilimens. Metamorphmagus -- must be born Metamorphmagi are born with the ability to change their appearance at will. Nymphadora Tonks is a Metamorphmagus. They are extremely rare. Occlumens -- can be learned The skill of Occlumency allows a person to block the efforts of a Legilimens to probe their thoughts and memories. A person who practices this rare skill is called an Occlumens. Parselmouth -- must be born The ability to speak the language of snakes and to command them is extremely rare. Seer -- must be born Another rare gift is the Inner Eye, the ability to prophesy. A wizard with this gift is called a Seer. Wandless Magic -- can be learned It is extrememly rare and even harder to learn and almost impossible to master. Okay. So, no matter how brilliant you think your character is or is supposed to be, it's just not possible for them to be in their second year and an accomplished Legilimens. Most wizards don't even acknowledge wandless magic, let alone know how to perform it. Therefore, as a rule, you must have permission for your character to have/know how to do any of these things. If your character is below their fifth year, however, the answer is almost definitely going to be no. And even those older aren't neceassarily going to be granted permission. Remember, there are no perfect characters. Everyone has their flaws, no one is invincible, no matter how badass your character is supposed to be. |

This goes for all characters; students, Professors, and other. Even adult wizards aren't all-knowing. Nor are Professors. The last thing anyone needs is a board full of all-powerful, all-knowing, perfect, prissy characters. I'm tired of that. |

=^^=; Alright. So I wrote that Rizpah's only class that she's particularly talented in is Divination. I noticed that Seer was written up there, and I was wondering if I needed to get that approved. I did mention in her profile that she did do a good deal of Tarot Card readings when she was growing up. So I guess what I'm asking is if it was possible to put Riz under the category of seer. Of course it's very latent, and comes to her in her sleep...she'd never have a "prophecy" while she was awake and things like that.... And they're really rather random. It could more of less he that someone was going to fall off their broom, to what the elves might serve for dinner the day, and maybe something even bigger? |

I don't think that classifies her as a Seer, since muggles can and do do that. Lol. But if you want to take it that far... XD Anyway, I guess I should clarify. I don't really have a problem with any current characters, this is mostly concerning new and upcoming characters. Because I'm noticing that people are posting profiles with these things in them without really getting permission. People seem to be forgetting that wizards and witches are just like regular people, with the exception of magic and certain knowledge. THAT'S IT. Real people don't walk around shape-shifting, having visions, and looking good enough to pose for Vogue. Not most anyway. Things that should be treated as rarities are being treated as common occurences, as if it's normal, even for a magical person, to be born with purple/orange/gold eyes and foresight. And I guess I wouldn't really have a problem with some of these things if the history supported it, for example, it's a known fact that Gia's violet eyes are a chemical imbalance/deficiency(or whatever) that's passed down from her mother's side. And Azure only knows about wandless magic because it's been implanted in her head since birth and her personality is dull enough to warrant it. XD And Joscelin... All-Amazing Characters Bite! >> (OMG, Harry is so freakin' hot in that! XD) |

I'd like to request that Miles Noctivagus is under wandless magic, as he tends to explode stuff with his mind <33 |

Duh. XD I'm not making a list for this stuff. People just need to ask first before they make characters with these abilities. ^^ |

Alex, I do remember running this by QB and she said it was fine. I expect alot of in-character training, however, just to keep things fair. |
