Role Playing Sample: Sleep had descended around the elven camp, a few Hunters standing vigil for stray wolves and humans who happened to wander too close and were in desperate need of a lesson. A small fire crackled pleasantly, the source of light unattended save for a single elf who had been unable to sleep for yet another night. Her hair was unbound and loose around her shoulders, the dark tendrils swaying in the teasing breeze.

Memories plagued her thoughts as she had attempted slumber that evening, a soft sigh emanating from the back of her throat as she idly prodded the firewood. She had made the correct decisions, hadn't she? And even had she not, it was far too late to redress the issue. Lives had been lost, friendships and relationships left in tatters, and Aselan knew as much; regret had inevitably filled the crevices the doubt had left in her mind, and so she sat drowning in her own sorrows.

A dull ache formed at her left temple, Aselan sighing again before applying pressure in hopes to relieve what would no doubt be a headache before it could fully manifest. The pain subsided momentarily, green eyes losing focus the longer they gazed into the flames. Aselan could nearly swear she could see shapes within the fiery core, the silhouettes beckoning her forward as though in some form of trance.

Surely the humans wouldn't...

We cannot be certain of anything they would or would not do; though I dislike placing our people in their hands, I fear we have little other choice.

Of course you are right. This cannot be allowed to continue.

The voices were clearly audible to Aselan's ears, though upon gazing in other directions, she could not see any other present, save for herself. Perhaps her brain had been addled far more than she initially feared...

In any case, Aselan sincerely hoped that the strange voices would be enough of a distraction from her memories that she might indeed be granted some sleep. After all, voices only she could hear was not as scary as many of the creatures she had fought when she had traveled; though that seemed a lifetime ago.

Stepping away from the fire, Aselan shook her head and held her blanket tighter to her shoulders. Perhaps the voices will make more sense come morning, Aselan reasoned before turning on her heel and returning to her cold tent.
