Adrian Haberman Lisa It had taken Adrian hours to pick the ring. It had taken days to build up the courage and days of solitude to make sure he was certain of his decision. One of the reasons it was so hard to decide if this was all right was the little fact that he chose not to tell anyone he wanted to propose. It was his decision to mull over, not theirs. He had to decide if he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her or not. Not them. So it was obviously his decision alone. It hadn't been anything extravagant or humiliating. Avoiding cliché's was somewhat impossible when it came to proposing and Adrian had never been the most creative individual so he went for something memorable. They went on a date, and it eventually carried them in front of a bakery. She looked confused until he went down on one knee, smiled at her and tried to make sure the black box didn't slip out of his sweaty nervous hands. Adrian told her how at first he wanted to swear at her when they first met, considering she had unintentionally skipped the line, only to find out later it was simply because she was unaware of it. The line consisted of only two people, him and her, and both were at the counter and she had managed to speak first, although he had been there longer. He explained how he wondered if it was chance they met again and spoke how happy he was to have asked her out. He then spoke on how it was suitable to come back for a 'third time', although they had returned many times previous, to go the final distance in their relationship. She tackled him down and pressed his forehead with kisses before he could even finish asking her. It was how he had gotten engaged to Lisa and that was the story he told his friends and family, some of whom were hurt by the decision to be kept from him but most understanding his reasoning. If they could handle him dating Lisa, why couldn't they be fine with him marrying her? It was a simple logic that brought him here. In a room full of cherry oak furniture, with his best man at his side and the other gentlemen who would accompany him at the aisle, leaving the grand total of four individuals to console the groom who had unfortunately discovered a newspaper clipping that morning of a runaway bride. "What if she leaves me? Never even walks down the aisle?" He spoke, his blond hair that was slicked back for the occasion having a hand run over it as his eyes swirled in worry. "What if someone stands up during 'does anyone not want these two to get married?' An ex lover?' "She is not going to leave you for anyone Adrian. She loves you and you love her, she won't runaway." One of the men spoke before speaking the unthinkable. "Its not like someone from the bakery would show up." Another of the men raised a brow in confusion. "...Only girls work at that bakery." The third male slapped a hand to his forehead, glaring at the two. "You idiot, you know Lisa is a bisexual. Besides, no one from the bakery could stand a thing against Mr. Heir's future salary." The conversation did nothing to ease Adrian, who was the first son of his rather wealthy father who had promised him a hefty fee in his will, and only had him panic even more as he looked at his best friend and best man, nervously playing with his tie. "...Can you go check? Just to make sure? Please?" |

Gilbert Jones (A.k.a 'Gibby') http://i727.photobucket.com/albums/ww273/k...KizuStrife7.gif Earlier That Morning A hand with long, slender fingers rose a lit cigarette to pale tiers, expression untamed as the man glared to the floor. After all of these years he hadn't had the courage to tell him. After all of these years he had fucked a girl to make himself feel better about this feeling-.. this unfathomable feeling he had for his best friend of 17 years. It was apparent there were many sleepless nights, especially after Adrian had told him he was engaged, that he had lingered on his decisions and stupidity. What he couldn't understand, though, is how after only four months had Lisa unlocked Adrian's heart so thoroughly that he had actually wanted to get married. Wasn't marriage about sincerity? He was sure that when Adrian smiled, he wasn't too sure about everything.. But Adrian was also the type who followed his brain and not his heart. That bitch stole his best friends heart with those tits and nice ass. Gilbert had always been the rebel in the group of friends. Wearing tight jeans and band t-shirts, wrist bands and always wore his hair solid black and fluffed around his ears. He was always the one who saw through the rich stupidity that flowed through the private school he and Adrian had attended together-- always saving his best friend from harsh decisions. He wouldn't blame him when he made this decision on his own. But at the same time, he felt a little irked and heartbroken that his friend went behind his back before telling him. Gibby loved him more than anyone could ever understand-- and as he stood outside of the bubble, he knew that bitch of a whore Lisa was in for nothing but to ride Adrian's huge load of cash. Gibby sat outside of the bakery, waiting for the wedding cake to be finished. Smoke poured from his lips after languidly taking a deep breath from his cigarette. He was listening in on the women inside, looking bored as he tipped his head back against the bench and allowed his cigarette to hang from the corner of his mouth. "So, how long do you think it'll be before Adrian can give you any money? What? [/u] Lifting up from the bench, he peered into the windows, his green eyes barely seeing anything from behind the curtains. It was Lisa-- he knew her voice from anywhere-- dressed in a blond wig which reached her hips and flowed over her shoulders. She didn't look anything like herself. Anger punched him in the chest as Gibby's eyes narrowed, THAT FUCKING BITCH! "Oh, I'm not sure. But hopefully soon.~ I want to get a house in the Caribbean.. And I'll have you visit me as many times as you like, sweet pea.~ The two women giggled, exchanging eskimo kisses as Lisa's hands loosely rested on the other woman's hips. He had just been waiting-- it was his job to get the cake but he supposed Adrian might have sent her instead.. or he suggested. Gibby had never checked in with the owner of the bakery nor even talked to anyone. "We'll be swimming in doe.." Gilbert couldn't sit there anymore. Standing, he growled beneath his breath as he bit into the butt of his cigarette and using his foot to knock over the trash can beside the bench-- fury in his face as trash flew everywhere. That fucking skank!! -------------------------------------------- (Now) "Greg, you go check. I gotta talk to Adrian, one-on-one." Gilbert forced a crooked smirk, winking as Greg stood and returned the smile, adjusting his bow tie and closing the door behind him. Gibby was lounged in one of the soda chairs, brows knitting a little at Adrian's back as he gave a huge sigh. Shit, the fucking nerves were explosive now. "So. Uh, whats going to happen after this? You gonna leave me in the dust?" He chuckled teasingly-- although it was supposedly true and could possibly happen. [ I hope thats good enough. ; ; ) |

((^^ It was absolutely wonderful!)) Greg was followed by the other men who quickly got the clue, leaving the groom and best man alone as Adrian lifted up a hand and nervously chewed at his thumbs nail, not biting it off or breaking it but keeping him occupied as his thoughts frantically ran toward the worst possible ways the wedding could go. Number One was certainly Lisa leaving him, in any way, shape, or form. He was smitten with her completely. Having her deny him on their wedding would crush him. His thoughts however changed when Gilbert spoke, his hand falling form his mouth to stay loosely by his side. "I won't leave you in the dust Gibby, you know that." Planning the wedding had just created a little bit of space as Lisa wanted it to be an 'our thing' nor a 'them and our thing'. Which made perfect sense. At least, when she explained it to him. "After this its the honeymoon trip to Hawaii for two weeks and then things will be right back to normal. You'll see." Adrian had never been aware of Gilbert's feelings. The man had hide them expertly over the years and Adrian saw his best man as a brother and best friend exclusively. "Do I look okay?" Adrian asked, once again glancing in the mirror as if his sheer appearance would make or break Lisa staying or leaving him. "...Shit Gilbert," Adrian rarely swore and even more rarely called Gilbert by his full name. "I'm sorry. I changed the subject." Light green eyes shined as he grabbed a nearby stool and sat on it, tilting his head slightly. "What did you want to talk about?" A small part of the blond prayed it was a pick up speech of sorts. |

Well, if there was any damned way that a groom could glow on his honey day just as a bride could Adrian was doing a damned good job about it. To Gibby, he could absolutely delicious-- those black pants hugging his slender body. Adrian looked more like a wife than he did a husband-- that is what was so amusing to him. Could Gilbert ruin his mood? Would he be able to? In truth, a best friend would speak up-- but someone smitten would lie to allow to live on to see their crush happy and alive. This wasn't fair-- it wasn't fair to Adrian, and it wasn't fair to himself. It wasn't fair to lie, and it sure as hell wasn't fair to watch his best friend and love be used by that lesbian whore. The best man's fingers twitched against the white fabric of his shirt, turning his head away for a second, swallowing again. ".. Shut up, Adrian, you look fine.." He said sourly after his full name was said. He hated his name-- it was a rich old bastards name and he was going to change it once he had the money to. "Man.. this is so fucked up.." Gilbert sighed, running a hand through his silk hair as he moved to sit up and lean forward, resting his elbows on his knees. He smelled of rich cologne-- why had he even gotten ready for this?.. God, this was so fucking stupid! Ignoring the curses in his head, he rubbed his face. God, he needed a cigarette. "Adrian, man.. you can't go through with this." Gibby said frankly, looking up at his friend as he covered half of his face as if he'd been smacked. Knowing those bright, beautiful hues would stare down at him in shock. |

Adrian nodded in appreciation to hear he looked fine. That was all he needed to hear. He didn't need long, everlasting compliments on his looks, just the confirmation from whom is mattered. Lisa couldn't exactly be here to do that and Gilbert was trusted just as much. He frowned at his own slip, a rare one done when stress had blurred his rational. What worried him however was how worried the black haired man was. He didn't look at ease at all with the wedding, with the entire situation. Maybe it would all be a sick joke that would be revealed to him in seconds. Hopes were dashed as both his hands were limp on his legs. "...What?" Gilbert didn't approve. He didn't know if it was of Lisa, him getting married to Lisa or the fact that he was even getting married. It didn't matter which of the three it was. All that Adrian knew was that Gilbert was against this and probably had been from the start. Which perhaps would have made it wiser to have at least talked to the man about his choice to marry but it still worried him. Telling him now, of all times? On his wedding day? Gilbert wouldn't do that for no reason. Its what worried him the most. "Why can't I go through with this and why are you bringing this up now?" He asked, brows furrowing as eyes stared with the anticipated shock and partial hurt from the situation. "Gibby, I thought you were with me on this. I've told you many times before when I was dating Lisa that I thought she was the one." He needed an answer, an answer before he started a rant he couldn't stop. |

Gilbert had predicted this response, pinching his temple as he licked his lips and shook his head. He was a man of small patience and when someone rose their voice to him he also wasn't one to fall on his back with his tail between his legs. He could no longer meet his eyes, but stare at the shined shoes that nicely fit Adrian's feet. "Look, man.. I'm not doing this for my health, I'm doing it for yours." Gibby started, starting to get irritated as the situation from earlier that morning flashed in his head. God, if it was legal to hit a woman he'd be punching the fuck out of her pretty little face. "I was for it before, but now I'm not. That shit she's pullin' is not right." How could he explain this without making himself look like he'd made it all up. "Look, look.. I know how I was all happy-go for you going through this marriage stuff but I saw her this morning.." Gah, just fucking start from the beginning you idiot! his conscious yelled at him, his head shaking slowly as he moved to stand-- he had to move. Gilbert's nerves were getting to him. Walking over to the window, he crossed his arms. "I thought it was my job to pick up the cake this morning. So I went to wait on it around 11 this morning," Earliest he ever got up, "But Lisa was in there.. " He whispered things like whore beneath his breath. "Apparently she has a pretty close relationship with the owner." |

What in the world could have changed? Adrian began shifting in his chair, not understanding just what was 'not right'. He looked more concerned as a time was brought up, a recent time. Did Gilbert see Lisa doubting their marriage? Had he done something wrong? His worried centered on himself, not seeing the possibility that his bride might be betraying him in any sort of way. If there was anything wrong, it was something he alone must have done. Gilbert moved before he finished explaining going to the window that left Adrian to helplessly look at the chair his best friend just sat at, staying silent as he waited for him to finish and answer his question. He nodded, as Adrian had in fact asked Gilbert to pick up the cake considering the many things that still needed to be done. Lisa had enough to worry about with getting ready. Which made him confused when he saw that she was there. Was she really going to be leaving him? Adrian couldn't help but look like a kicked puppy at the thought. The words didn't quite make it properly into his ears as he raised a brow. "...We both have a close relationship with the owner Gibby. You know that. Its because we met there." He spoke, sighing as it seemed to have been a misunderstanding. "...I love Lisa. I'm going to marry her." He stated finally, the reassure both of them of the notion. The door opened with his words, the men grinning as they tilted their heads. "Time to make your grand appearance Mr. Groom. Shows about to start," Greg joked as Paul rolled his eyes. "Don't want to keep your bride waiting." |

Gilbert frowned immediately at his friends response-- and before he could open his mouth any further the other two stepped in. By now, the pressure in his chest was overwhelming. And what was so irritating was that he couldn't tell if it was anger or him being heart broken that his best friend was more smitten with a lying whore than Gibby. Even Gilbert, who was smitten with Adrian, wasn't this fucking stupid. But if course, Adrian had always been a romantic-- never once held back by the fortune he was sitting upon. Every girl was after the dollar, the many porsches they could afford, and the taste of expensive wine. Gibby wasn't in for all of that, he wasn't materialistic-- he enjoyed cigarettes and punk music-- and his best friend. Not for his money, not for the fame, but for the fact Adrian had stolen his heart and sacrificed himself so many times for Gilbert. Frowning deeply, he watched the other two adjust Adrian's tie and escort him out. Growling in anger and irritation, he grabbed a wine bottle off of the counter just outside of the refridgerator that they had been drinking from. Grasping it's neck, he bit into his bottom lip-- unable to hold it in anymore. Turning, he pitched the bottle across the room once he knew the other three were out of hearing range. The glass shattering all over the bouquet of flowers that Adrian's mother had sent down. "Fuck my fucking life!" Turning on his heel, he bolted towards the main hall. How was he going to do this.. ? Wait, wasn't there a moment where you could object in a wedding..? Brows knitting a little, he moved to the front of the best man and bridesmaids line. There, stood the woman that Lisa had been smootching with-- waiting for Gilbert's arm. Wait, wasn't his parter Christie? "Hello, you must be Gilbert." She said classily, giving a pink-lipsticked smile. "The name is Gibby," He corrected her, frowning at her with eyes that burned. Gibby didn't want to touch her-- talk to her, or even look at her. "My name is Emily. You look handsome.~" "Look, lady. I'm not here for a date, I'm here for my best friend, so don't talk to me." He bristled, staring down the hall as the doors began to open. Emily just stared in awe up at him, before frowning a little and looking back down the hallway. Lisa told her getting this one to like her would be hard.... |

Perhaps Adrian would have been kinder in his words if he had been aware of Gilbert's feelings for him. Unfortunately he wasn't and that blinded him in only seeing his own personal love for Lisa. His appearance was fixed and he was led out, to lead the walk of groom's men and bridesmaids. He was still nervous but the conversation with Gilbert had only confirmed what he felt for the black haired beauty he was going to marry. They were certainly on odd pair. Adrian, the heir a book publishing giant and and Lisa, an engineer. He had loved her perseverance to do what she loved and was good at, no matter how others discriminated against her. That didn't stop them from loving each other though. Unaware of Gilbert's rage, he turned around, hoping for a good luck of sorts but knowing he wouldn't receive it. For whatever reason, the man disapproved his wedding. Hopefully he wouldn't do anything stupid. Taking in a deep breath, he smiled as Paul gave him a thumbs up and finally looked forward to see the door open, walking slowly as heads turned to see them. A few children, nieces and nephews, waved happily as they grinned, receiving smiles of thanks while most just nodded their head in approval. Adrian's father was a rare sort who didn't quite care who his son married, as long as it made the blond happy. Off course, the man was unaware of the bride's true purpose for the wedding. The music played and people walked, leaving Adrian to stand there extremely nervous as he patted his shoulder, nodding at the vows in his pocket even though they were memorized perfectly. Nothing could ruin today. Nothing. |

Oh, he was going to do something fucking stupid all right. Gilbert's nerves were forcing him to frown unhappily-- and his own family noticed his upset, especially his little sister. She stared at him with curious eyes, mouthing, 'Whats wrong?' a few times to get his attention. Jackie was around 18 years old, two years younger than he. Gilbert ignored her though, and walked passed, sloppily holding Emily's arm to himself-- he felt like he was touching a giant germ. As he got closer and closer to the altar, though, he noticed something as well. He fondly remembered Adrian saying he had misplaced a lot of money and stock, which had went missing nearly a week after he had proposed to Lisa and allowed her to have access and see what he had. All Gibby knew, was that the bakery and the woman's clothes that morning were sure flashy and totally opposite than the last time he had set eyes upon it, almost a year earlier. When they finally reached the end, the men and women separated, Gibby moving to stand beside Adrian and the other men moving to stand behind Gibby. He gave a deep breath-- knowing what was to come and what hell he was going to stir-- but he knew it was for the best. From the piano, the music started to play 'Wedding Bells', and the priest removed the bible from the altar as people rose to watch the doors open again-- with a quite flashy bride stepping out with her father. |

Adrian didn't see the problems with Lisa spending money on their grand day. Yes, the dress she would only wear once in her life was at a hefty price but she deserved it in his mind. The music change and the doors opening once again had a nearly unanimous intake of breath as she walked, practically floating down the aisle with the most beautiful smile solely directed at him. The blond was lost to the world as he stared at her, a blissful smile on his face as he watched her, only a few key individuals in the crowd turning around to look at him instead of the bride. Soon they were side by side, smiling at one another. It had been right to opt out of a veil. She looked beautiful with her hair done up and flawless makeup. Then again, she could have walked down the aisle in one of his shirt and sweatpants with bed head and no make up and she still would have been beautiful in his eyes. She was perfect. The priest began to spoke, the opening words on blessing the couple, though Adrian heard none of it. "You look beautiful." He whispered quietly, as she smiled up at him brightly. "And you look absolutely handsome," she responded, grinning up at him. The church fell into silence as the priest asked everyone to bow their heads and saw a prayer for the pair. |

Gods, Gilbert wanted to vomit. It was apparent he was getting whispered about as he rolled his eyes and looked down. Fucking bitch-- did she even love him? He highly doubted it with the way she goggled Emily. Glancing up at the brides mades, the corners of Emily's lips were tilted downward. It was obvious she was upset her lover was looking like she was enjoying this whole charade. Charade.. His best friends wedding, a charade? Fuck no.. He had to stop all of this. This wedding wasn't going to happen, not while Gibby was still breathing. He didn't nod his head, and continued to listen to the prayer-- then the beginning of the ceremony. Loosing his patience as his hands started to sweat as they cupped in front of him. |

The priest finally broke the silence, raising his arms before he looked at Adrian, cooing him in to give the vows. He coughed lightly, laughing a bit nervously as he reached forward and held one of Lisa's hands. "When I was smaller, I always thought that falling in love was something instant. That the moment I saw you, cupid's arrow would strike me and nothing but love would follow. It scared me and I almost hoped to never fall in love because it meant revealing not only your best to someone but your worst. Lisa, when I met you, I found out love was not quite what I imagined. I didn't want to kiss you the moment I saw you but yell at you because of our misunderstanding that I'm sure everyone here has already heard plenty about." There was a slight paused as people nodded and smiled, familiar with the story shared at the rehearsal dinner. "Our second meeting made me ask you out and I only wish I asked you out during out first meeting instead, just so I could add more day to how long we have known each other, even if so many more are to follow. You're everything I want and more, the insecurities and faults you say you have nothing but pleasant reminders that you aren't perfect and it is feasible for me to have you as my bride and as my equal. You're the first who's gone out with me and been with me for just being me, not everything that comes with my name. For that, I thank you and I love you. I promise to take care of any will you may have, be faithful and stay with you for better or for worse." She smiled at him brightly, her naturally tall height and heels bringing them eye to eye though he didn't care at towering over her. Her own vows followed, where she squeezed at the hand she was holding and told him something similar, how she hadn't expected to fall in love with him and didn't regret that she had and thanked that her humble origins and chance didn't keep them apart. "Now before the rings are exchanged," the priest spoke, the ring bearer, Adrian's cousin of eight years of age, came forward. "Is there anyone who objects to these two getting married?" |

Gilbert felt as if he was going to loose his lunch all over the nicely shampooed carpet. He felt like such a bad guy-- such a prude. He felt his hands get hotter and even more sweaty as he shifted nervously, eyes moving out into the crowd of family and people. Licking his lips, he swallowed again to keep the nerves down as the priest asked if anyone opposed. He couldn't do this-- not to his best friend. He couldn't ruin his wedding day-- hell everything was just assumed and what if they were just sisters or something? The ending vows had started as Gibby hadn't had the courage to speak up. And just when he thought he was going to give everything up-- the love he had for his best friend, the ruined wedding day-- he looked at Emily, and noticed something on her ring finger. One of the rings from Adrian's missing stocks. It was a family heriloom that was passed down through Adrian's family (he only knew this because Adrian had made quite a fuss about it to Lisa and himself.) Anger shot up in his throat as the Priest went to say the final vow. "Adrian, Lisa, I now pronounce y---" "Wait a second!!" Adrian shouted, nerves hot and moving up into his arms as he stepped out of the perfect line of best men. "I object to this wedding!" |

The 'I Do's' were exchanged and the idea that anyone could interrupt his moment slipped beyond Adrian. It was so perfect, what months of planning had led up to. They would only have the reception to get through before they would go off on their honeymoon, a rather expensive trip that had been a miracle to book in the first place. It was luck that had a rather well known celebrity couple cancel their vacation only to have his phone call been next, giving them the spot that had made him confirm that this was the right choice. Fate would have stopped him if it was strong. So when the 'I Do' left her lips, the rings were firmly on their fingers and the final words were about to pronounce them, Adrian couldn't help but look like he was in heaven. Which was why it was so startling to see his face fall when he heard the last words he wanted to hear, from the second last person he wanted to hear it from (as the first would have been Lisa). Gilbert disagreed with the wedding. So much that he was willing to let everyone know. It had him inhale deeply, ignoring the way Lisa's eyes were widening in horror as she looked at Emily desperately before at him. The blond had never looked more betrayed in his life. "...Why now Gibby?" Adrian asked, the name said thickly as he was tempted to use the full name, just to cause equal pain but he couldn't. Gibby hated it and he knew that. Which was why it bothered him that Gilbert would even do this to him. "If you object, you should never have said yes to being my best man. What's so wrong to letting me be happy?!" His face contorted to something similar to anger but his eyes shone of sadness, distressed that he even had to deal with this. |
