When it was over, it was over. Or so Sal said. Thomas let those words settle as his brows furrowed faintly. Was that really it? He didn't press...

Thomas closed his eyes as he felt Sal lean his face into his hair. The soft peck against his head was soothing. He felt his body warm. This felt good... really did. And it was a bit frightening, how comfortable he was right then and there.

At the mention of having a slight preference for men over women, the brunet had to quirk a brow. That was surprising... for Thomas. Heh, he supposed he saw it as being 'normal' that Sal would actually have more of a preference for women. But then again, as he'd just noted... normal was what you make it.

As Sal described his type of normal, Thomas was tempted to open his mouth... and of course proclaim what sort of father figure would he make with that sort of description... But that was thrown to the wind as Sal added a bit more.

Out of the ordinary. Not normal. That was Thomas, for Sal. And why was that? Because he gave a damn... about him?

Thomas lifted his head a bit, as his eyes met Sal's. He was quiet, as his eyes seemed to search the other man's a moment. Perhaps wanting to see if he was being honest with him. Not just... spouting intimate nonsense for the sake of getting in his pants. Though he'd made that mistake once before, back at the pizzeria when he'd figured the other had been on seduction auto-pilot. Sal himself had insistently told him that was not the case.

"... Why me?" he asked quietly then. Honestly, why him? Not that he was trying to discredit himself, but... wouldn't it be easy to 'give a damn' about someone else? Despite the question, he lingered near with his eyes focused on Sal.

…Why me?

It was an excellent question. Why Thomas? He truly would be much easier to feel for someone else, just about anyone else. It was far less complicated, would be, if he could focus the energy and attention his body paid to Thomas on someone else.

How did he even attempt to explain this to the brunet? When he himself barely had a grip on it himself? He could feel green eyes watching him, reading him, waiting to hear whatever he’d have to say. It was empowering as much as it was terrifying, to be the focus of a man like Thomas. Sal could do little more than look right back, licking his lips nervously and eyes scanning the man’s face and eyes in quick, jerky gazes. Trying to pick the best words to describe why…

“You… I don’t know if I can really tell you why,” Sal began slowly. “I’m not so good with words a lot of the time. I’m better with my hands, you know?” He flexed his hand around Thomas’, “I could make a pizza no problem, but you ask me how I feel and I get confused.”

“I don’t know why you. It just is.” He shrugged against the headboard and Thomas’ weight at his side, frowning down at his lap. “From day one you screwed me up… I couldn’t sleep. I just kept thinking about you and the things you said outside the pizzeria. That’s why I up and called you that day… my mind would settle. I was confused and angry and frustrated and didn’t understand… and then it kept happening. I kept thinking about you and it wouldn’t stop. You wouldn’t leave me alone, inside my own head.

“You're smart, and kind... kindest person I know, actually. I like it when you smile,” he confessed some more. “And the thought of hurting you, making you unhappy… I’d hate myself. You… make me want to be something better than I am. Better than I know I can be. And that should piss me off, but it doesn’t.”

“I just…” he shook his head. “I… You confuse me and I hate being confused. I’m attracted to you, and normally that wouldn’t be a problem. I’d just… seduce you,” he smirked slightly, passing a little look over to the other man. He sighed, heavy and huge, “But with you it’s not so easy. I don’t know how to explain to you why, but it isn’t. And I don’t want, well I want to seduce you, you know,” he gave another little look, brow arched. “But I’m… I don’t want it like I used to, if that makes any sense.”

He frowned, then suddenly sort of knew a way to put it that could in fact make Thomas understand. “I… don’t wanna be a Wesley.” He looked at the brunet then, looking for understanding. “Not to you.”

The Brit remained quiet as Sal searched for words and phrases that could express that question: why. Though it wasn't too surprising for Thomas, to hear that words were a bit difficult for Sal. He felt the movement of Sal's hand about his own. He returned the soft squeezing.

Green eyes softened all the more, as he watched those glances and soft lips as the blond spoke. Sal thought he was smart and kind. He confused him, out of that normal routine that Sal was used to. Though the Brit's cheeks warmed faintly at the mention of him wanting to seduce him.

But he didn't want it to be like his previous 'lovers', if they could even be called that. This was something different for Sal. Special. He didn't want to be a Wesley...

Thomas smiled a little then. His other hand lifted, and rested upon their linked hands, bringing more warmth to the hold. "... That's good to know," he replied. "Thank you," he added, as his eyes lifted from looking their hands and back up to Sal's face.

Before much more could be said or done, there came a knock on the door. Thomas looked toward it. Right... room service was coming up. He spared a quick glance to Sal once more. Then he leaned in quickly and stole a peck to his cheek. He smiled a little, and untangled himself from the blond, and got up to head to the door.

He grabbed one of the hotel bath robes from the closet, to cover up his bare upper torso, then opened up the door. The bell boy wheeling the cart, spared them a professional smile, then pushed the cart inside. Covered plates. Thomas quickly grabbed up his wallet, flicked out 5 dollars, and handed it over to the hired help. The bell boy gave a quick thanks, then wheeled the cart away after having put the plates on the small table in the room. Thomas closed the door after him, then turned to Sal and smiled warmly.

"Ready to eat?"

Sal closed his eyes as he was thanked, feeling his mouth curl the tiniest bit. He shrugged one shoulder, having no way to respond to the thanks. Not knowing how. He shifted his hand beneath Thomas’, enjoying the extra comfort and warmth of the brunet’s two hands wrapped around his one.

The knock at the door was mildly startling. Room service. Sal scowled a little, bitter of the interruption because Thomas turned his head to regard the door and the blond knew the man was going to get up and step away. He was placated though, by the quick little kiss pressed to his cheek. He returned the small smile, watching the brunet get up and letting him go.

Adjusting himself on the bed, Sal sat back and just watched Thomas. He smirked a little when the brunet put on a hotel issued white bathrobe. Modest as ever… it was charming and just one of the many facets of the Brit that tickled Sal’s fancy. He saw it a shame to cover up a body like the one Thomas had, Sal much more preferring to be able to look at it unhindered; then again, when he saw the bell boy wheeling in their food cart, Sal was glad for Thomas’ modesty. An irrational jealousy pricked his chest, the blond wary of the other man in their room in a totally unnecessary way. The boy didn’t do anything to warrant the ill will Sal was feeling, but that didn’t change the fact that he felt it.

He relaxed once the guy was gone, Sal uncrossing arms he hadn’t realized he’d crossed and standing up as Thomas closed their door and smiled. He returned the curl of lips, rubbing a hand over the back of his head and ruffling his short blond hair. They’d shared an awful lot about themselves tonight, and Sal would be a liar if he tried to say he didn’t feel extremely vulnerable right now. More so now standing up than he had when he’d been on the bed.

He nodded at the mention of the food that had just been delivered to them. “Yeah, lets eat.”

He sat at the table, lifting covers off plates and grinning when he saw the chocolate covered strawberries. He cast a playful look at the other man, “Almost forgot about these.”

Thomas watched the blond rise from the bed. Then he too made his way over to the table. The bath robe was still hanging on him, though he'd only tied it loosely. It was already beginning to fall open to expose some of the Brit's bare chest. He pulled up the other chair.

A bemused little look took the brunet's face as Sal brought attention to the strawberries they ordered. A smirk then surfaced, as he grasped the plate and tugged it away, pushing it to the far side of the table. "Dessert comes after you eat your main meal," he teased. Typical Thomas. "Besides... if we begin eating those first I think we might forget the rest of the meal..." he added, as he glanced sidelong to the other man.

He smiled some then turned his attention to one of the other covered plates. He lifted it, to reveal the main course he'd ordered. Grilled chicken, with some rice and steamed vegetables. Relatively healthy, compared to Sal's hamburger. Then again Thomas was the type to watch what he ate, when he could anyway.

Picking up some of the silverware from the tray, he looked back to the blond beside him. "... I think a glass of wine for each of us would be alright, don't you think?" he asked. Without waiting for much of a response, he got up to fetch their bottle, which he'd left in the bathroom. Wine with food... wouldn't be too intoxicating. And if he kept it to one glass, he'd be fine. No Tipsy Tom for now.

Thomas came back out shortly, and grabbed up their two glasses from the dresser. He set down one by Sal and the other by his own plate, then filled each with the vibrant red liquid. He set the bottle down then had a seat. The Brit picked up his glass then, and observed the liquid a bit... A smile tweaked his lips.

"I'm glad I came..." he informed. "Came up here to find you. I haven't felt this good since... well... before it happened," he gave a nod. "Thank you..." Thomas added, as his eyes lifted to look up at Sal.

Sal smirked as the plate of dessert was tugged out of his reach. He couldn’t help the way his mind twisted Thomas’ words a little… in his mind, all he thought of was all the sensual implications one could associate sweet strawberries with. That coupled with Thomas’ claim that they’d forget about their main courses… well, he couldn’t help but let his mind wander in a direction that probably had nothing to do with Thomas’ meaning.

Sitting down to his burger and fries, a testament in its own compared to Thomas’ meal, proof of how different they were. He nodded around chewing some fries when Thomas mentioned wine, watching the man pour their glasses when he returned with glasses and the bottle.

His eyes found green ones again when Thomas spoke again, listening as the man confessed his happiness and pleasure. It brought a smile to Sal’s mouth, the man swallowing his mouthful of food and just spending a moment looking at the man at the table with him. He nodded, “Good. I’m glad.”

Picking up his glass, he sniffed the deep red liquid inside, eyes on Thomas. “Was worried there for a minute… earlier. In the park and all. Thought I’d screwed up everything with my fat mouth.” He shrugged and took a sip. “Was figuring you might even pull out of this trip early. Pack up and leave while I was on the balcony.”

His leg nudged the other man’s under the table, a sincere smile on his lips and in his eyes. “I’m glad you didn’t.”

Thomas watched the blond. He gave a nod, as Sal mentioned his unease at how things had grown a bit... tense, in the park. He smiled a bit at the nudge to his leg. He gently pressed back against Sal's. "That would seem a bit rude... to just walk out on you after dragging you out here. Even if things did stay sour..." Thomas nodded. "I guess... I'm just... in some ways, as confused as you are," he smiled faintly. "For different reasons, obviously... but..." he let his voice drift, then shook his head.

Sal was out of the normal for Thomas. That coupled with of course the fact he shared a face with his dead lover, made things all the more confusing. But their little talk earlier had soothed him greatly.

Thomas picked up his fork in his right, holding it concave side down in the typical continental style. His knife was in his left, as he began to slice through his chicken. Then in a typical Thomas fashion, he speared each piece and brought it to his lips in one elegant sweep of his right hand. As he chewed, a thoughtful expression came to his lips as he enjoyed the flavor and texture of the lean meat. It was the Ritz Carlton after all, so the room service had to be nice.

The Brit took some sips of his wine, and let the tangy beverage mix with that of the chicken. He contentedly ate for a while. His eyes flicked to the TV now and then, just remembering it was still on. After swallowing the current bite in his mouth, he threw out another curious question.

"... What do you fear most?" he smiled. An innocent question, right? For the sake of making conversation. Though it seemed to go along nicely with their umbrella topic of vulnerability they had going that night. Though it seemed like the right time to ask, as they were seemingly digging deeper into one another's personal selves.

Sal spent a quiet moment just watching Thomas eat, eyeing the way he went about it and smirking softly. So Thomas… He gave his head a shake, amused and somehow strangely comforted by the sight. He went about his food, chewing and swallowing, chasing bites with wine and all around enjoying himself. He gave pause though, when Thomas voiced his next revealing question.

“What if I said I wasn’t afraid of nothing?” He asked back, eyeing the man from the corner of his gaze. He knew, however, it wasn’t an acceptable answer though and he tilted his head from side to side. He licked his lips, squinting faintly. Thomas seemed to like the nitty-gritty questions…

“I don’t like water. You know that,” he began. “But I guess… I mean, I don’t… not bein’ in control gets to me a bit. I don’t like havin’ no control, or understanding of a situation. I odn’t like being confused. Bein’ cornered or forced into something without any say… I don’t like it.”

He shrugged, “I don’t… like useless effort. I don’t wanna be my pop.” He frowned hard, confessing quietly. “He spent so much time wasting emotion on a woman who never understood him, might not have even wanted to. Useless.”

Thomas rolled his eyes, though his lips held a bemused little smile. Of course he'd claim that he was afraid of nothing, at first. What tough guy wouldn't try to proclaim that? He gave the other another little nudge.

Right, he disliked water. Lack of control. No understanding of the situation. Cornered or forced. And useless effort. His eyes softened a bit. The relationship his father had truly did have an impact on Sal. No denying that.

"... It might have seemed useless to you, but I'm sure... at the time... for him it felt worth it," he smiled a little. "When you love someone... Anything seems worth it for that person. Little things that make them smile. Working hard so you can get them whatever they desire. Big things and small things." Thomas murmured quietly.

He lowered his hands a bit. "... If you're going to look at any failed relationship as useless effort, then... arguably what I had with your brother was useless, since... despite my best efforts, I lost him..." Thomas felt his throat tighten a bit, then he shook his head.

"But it wasn't useless. Not at all. Even though he's gone, your brother brought me so much happiness. It wasn't useless..." he murmured. He smiled a little then, shaking his head. "Though I can understand how you could see it that way..." he added softly.

He cleared his throat then. "I suppose, thanks to your brother, I now have a fear of... loss." he gave a nod, then his brows furrowed a bit. "Frightened to give myself over again. I know I can't go on like that though. Paul wouldn't want me to live out the rest of my day's miserable and alone," he smiled a bit.
