Sal hummed a sound of interested acknowledgement as Thomas shared about his uncle in England. He felt the brush of Thomas’ thumb against his knuckles, pleased despite his confusion that Thomas’ hand was still in his and the brunet didn’t seem uncomfortable with it. Why that was… Sal didn’t let himself think about it. Because if he thought about it even just for a second, he knew what the reason would be. Paul. It all always came down to Paul.

He shook his head, exhaling a slightly amused sound through his nose as seasickness was brought up as a possible reason for his dislike of water. “Naw. Nothing like that, not that I know of at least.” The blond cast a look over the brunet and caught green eyes looking at him too. He squinted and his mouth pulled tight, “Actually not sure if I should tell ya or not. Just another way for you to insult me…”

His mouth quirked, clearly teasing. Looking back out at the steadily growing statue, Sal shrugged. “I’m not good in water. Never really learned to swim,” he cleared his throat, voice dropping a little with his confession, like he was embarrassed by it but trying to come off as nonchalant about it.

“Never went to college, so there was no swim test requirement I had to pass like Paul did,” Sal continued. “We had some lessons when we were kids at the community center with a buncha other kids from school, but I dunno… just never took to it. I can kinda float and all, ‘m jus’ not so good at it.” He shrugged, “Better for me to just keep to dry land.”

Thomas was attentive, as Sal began to explain himself. A bemused look came over his face as Sal informed him that if he told him... he'd likely tease him for it. A hint of a chuckle escaped him at that. He turned a bit, to better face Sal. Though at what he was told, Thomas looked surprised. "For real? ... You can't really swim?" he chuckled, then cleared his throat. "... Erm... nothing wrong with that I guess. I just can't recall the last person I met who ... couldn't," he watched the other. His hand gently let go of his fingers, then came to slowly rest on Sal's shoulder. He rubbed softly, up and down along his upper arm and the cap of his shoulder.

"I hope you know I'm not letting you leave New York now though till we have a dip in the hotel pool," he smirked. "We'll get you swimming just as well as I can make pizzas," he gave a wink. Though before Sal could get so much as a complaint in, Thomas attention was stolen by the 300 ft tall woman standing before them. The ferry had docked, and Thomas was staring up at the huge statue.

"... Crikey..." he murmured in awe. Though around them, he began to notice their fellow passengers were stepping off. He cleared his throat, then looked back to Sal. "Well we're getting off the boat. I'm sure you're feeling relieved?" he smiled. And of course, he reached out for the blond's hand. It really was becoming a natural inclination for him. He truly hoped Sal didn't mind...

Once they were off the boat, Thomas had to stop and look up at the large statue once more. His green eyes were wide as he took in the look of it. Seeing photos was one thing, but really experiencing something as amazing as a national monumental was... well... monumental!

The little island was bustling with tourists. Parents with kids, school groups, couples, and other functions, including the funny groups of a dozen or more people all wearing the same color shirt. Thomas lowered his eyes from Lady Liberty to look at the gift shop nearby, as well as the line to go up inside the large monument. A smirk came over his face.

"... Well... care to accompany me on my first time inside a lady?" he chuckled, as he glanced over to Sal with a silly little look on his face.

Sal’s mouth quirked as he was informed they would not be leaving the city until they’d had an educational dip in the hotel pool. He watched the other from the corner of his eye, gaze steady and sidelong, drooping only slightly as Thomas rubbed over his arm and shoulder with a warm palm. If he leant a bit into the touch, well, he wasn’t going to admit to it.

He was a little surprised with himself over willingly sharing his inability like he had. It wasn’t something he usually found himself admitting; after all, it was a vulnerability and truly an excuse to be made fun off. But somehow, he didn’t mind. He wouldn’t have minded, he realized, even if Thomas HAD made fun of him for it because, after all, it was just another thing distinguishing him from Paul. Paul had known how to swim… he’d been pretty damn good at it, actually. Sal could barely float.

If it kept him separate from Paul in Thomas’ mind, Sal would admit to any number of embarrassing discrepancies from his deceased twin.

As they docked, Sal too turned his attention over to the giant green lady. Blue eyes widened, his mouth pulling down, the blond impressed… more than he’d actually thought he would be. Sure, he’d figured the thing would be impressing but when you were actually there, among the statue win person… it was really, really amazing.

Thomas’ hand returning to his distracted him from the massive, robed, torch-baring woman more so than the man’s voice had. The heat, the soft slide of skin, the wrap of fingers… it pulled his head and eyes around, the blond tracing the sight of a smile directed at him. His hand returned the embrace of the other’s palm, Sal feeling his mouth curl just so. Whatever reason Thomas had for continuously holding his hand today… Sal was fine with it. So long as he could continue to look the man in the eyes, those beautiful green eyes, and not directly see Paul reflected in them. At least for now, Sal did believe Thomas saw him as he lightly teased. It took a little of the sting he’d suffered all night and morning out of him.

How long it lasted, he couldn’t know. But, at least for now, Sal could see that Thomas knew it was him he was talking to, smiling at… holding hands with. It felt good.

Sal let the brunet guide him off the boat by the hand, the blond grinning at the multitude of tourists bustling about on the island. He craned his neck up, squinting against the sun as he looked up at Lady Liberty, hand in hand with a beautiful Englishman. At the chuckle and humor toned voice of Thomas beside him, Sal looked over to find green eyes glinting in amusement at him.

Sal couldn’t help it. He snorted with laughter, turning his head completely away from the brunet. He shook his head, hand pulling from Thomas’ and coming up to lightly push against the side of his head. To shoved, playfully, blue eyes squinting with his humor.

“Yah, sure,” Sal huffed another laugh, hand curling to playfully tug at soft brown hair while he winked. “I’ll guide you through the particulars of shucking off your hetero virginity.” His fingers went as far as to tuck hair back around the curve of the man’s ear, Sal doing it totally unconsciously as he looked at the other man. He bit his lip softly, glancing away as he dropped his hand; a grin burst over his features as he looked back.

“But first,” he pointed over at the nearby gift shop, “I gotta make a purchase…” He slid his hand out again and offered it out to the brunet, inviting him to join him, with a quirked smile before heading over to the gift shop.

Thomas was all grins as the blond burst out laughing at his little play on words. He felt the playful shove, as well as the tug at his hair. His green eyes drank in the look of enjoyment on the other man's face and it warmed him to the core. Though the following little stroke of some of his hair behind his ear caught him a bit off guard. Sure they'd been holding hands off and on the past day or two, but such a soft gesture as that... Thomas couldn't say he really thought of that as a simple sign of friendship. Such affection was more reserved for something more. Or at least... so he thought.

Though the hand dropped away shortly, and Thomas quickly brushed the lingering thoughts aside. The grin on Sal's face was warm and reassuring. The offered hand had Thomas cocking his own brow. But he took the open palm and was soon following Sal to the gift shop. "A purchase?" he mused quietly. His eyes idly traced the broad shoulders of the blond who was leading him, as well as the curve of his neck as it sloped up into his shaggy blond hair that covered his head. Erm, though why he was so observant at that moment escaped him.

Once they got inside the rather crowded gift shop, Thomas adverted his eyes from the blond holding his hand and looked to the various nick-knacks and other Statue of Liberty memorabilia available for purchase. Lighters, mini statues, Lady Liberty lawn gnomes, jewelry, postcards, keychains, and of course "I <3 NYC" t-shirts everywhere. The Englishman smiled a little to himself, though he didn't drop the hold on Sal's hand.

Then again it was kinda crowded inside, so dropping hands might have been a bad idea, if they wanted to stick together. Though the chances of them getting lost on the small island were pretty slim. Meh, a reason was a reason. And that warm palm nestled against his own was a welcome comfort.

"So what exactly are you planning on buying in here?" he asked, as he stepped closer to the blond a moment. A woman and her squealing child slipped past, causing the brunet to press up against Sal momentarily. Thomas felt his body warm at the unintentional touch and he cleared his throat. He sure hoped that warmth didn't reach his cheeks...

(( I did kinda myself so no worries haha. Nothing like vegging at the end of the semester and catching up with friends and family. Oh, and moving out of the dorm haha. Lots of stuff was going on the past couple of weeks. But it's good to see you back! *glomps* ))

Sal cocked a grin over at the brunet as he pulled them along into the gift shop and between the others already inside. He bypassed figures and shirts and cards, bringing himself and Thomas over to a shelf near the cash register.

The fact that Thomas had taken and held to his hand, even into and through the shop, didn’t escape Sal. He highly doubted he’d ever overlook something like that. Not when Thomas was concerned. But he was far too content and pleased with the sensation received on account of it to say anything that could possibly convince the brunet to end it.

“I’m buyin’…” Sal began, but stopped when Thomas was suddenly not just right beside him, but pressed against him. He glanced over, noticing the movement of the woman and her child and realizing they had caused the contact.

Thomas cleared his throat as Sal brought his gaze back over to the ma beside him. A faint color had risen into high cheekbones; not a full on blush or honestly all that noticeable, but Sal saw it. He was too close to the brunet to have missed it. The blond pushed his tongue against the inside of his bottom teeth, forcing himself not to grin like he wanted or tease the other man about the slight coloring.

“This,” Sal continued. He might not say anything about the contact and proximity between them, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t hyper aware of it while it lasted. The warmth, the solid build and pressure of the other man’s body against his… felt too much like how it had when they’d been pressed together on the hotel bed, kissing and groping and murmuring heated, whispered Italian between gasps from breath. Felt way too much like that, for Sal not to notice.

The blond plucked a disposable camera off the shelf and shook it at the other man with a grin. “I’m buyin’ two of these right here. One for you and one for me.” He went ahead and grabbed another red and yellow Kodak disposable camera and balanced both in one hand, refusing to release Thomas’ in order to have full range of both.

“Kodak moments and all that shit, right? Pictures are a part of the whole makin’ memories thing,” Sal jerked his head towards the waiting cashier and pulled Thomas over to the desk with him so he could pay for the cameras.

((Indeed! And congrats on graduating! *huggles* ))

Thomas was silent as he about stared at the blond. He felt a bit awkward, mixed with a peculiar tension that had risen in his gut. Not all entirely uncomfortable though, which was the further confusing part. None the less he tried to take his focus off the blond's familiar face and to the disposable camera he pulled off one of the shelves. He blinked twice, then a slow smile came over his face. The crowds eased and he was able to take a half step back. Breathing room and space between.

Not just one camera, but two. One for each of them to carry and capture those candid moments. "Indeed," he agreed with a nod. He followed the blond over then, to the cashier. He pulled his wallet from his pocket, then found himself trying to fumble with it, till he realized he'd likely need his second hand... which was still in Sal's. He glanced to the blond, spared him a surprisingly apologetic smile, then eased his hand away to open up his wallet to dish out five dollars for the cameras. He wasn't about to let Sal pay this time. Sure he might have been opening them up for a mild tif, but he surprisingly didn't seemed bothered at the possibility.

He in fact snatched the two cameras from Sal's hands, and when it was their turn at the register, he quickly made his transaction, paid the cashier, took his change and then grabbed up the cameras. He shot Sal a rebellious little look. He knew Sal seemed to have issues with him paying for anything. But he was beginning to feel a bit like a mooch. It wasn't like he was poor...

None the less, he took the blond by the hand, once more (after handing him his camera of course) and tugged him out of the crowded gift shop and back outside. Thomas then silently stopped for a moment, and he lifted up his camera, to snap a shot of the Statue in all her glory. Well, from where he was standing anyway. He'd have to take a few more once they got right at the base of her.

He then glanced to Sal before his attention went to a nearby tourist. He put on a friendly smile. "Sir, if you don't mind would you take a photo for us?" he asked. The tourist looked over to Thomas and gave a shrug. "Sure," the fellow informed. Thomas smiled, showing off his... rather friendly and charismatic inner self. He might have been calm and composed most the time but he was hardly shy. He plucked Sal's camera from his hand, then handed the two of them over to the volunteer, then tugged Sal toward him.

No arm looped around Sal. But Thomas did linger close as he turned his attention to the camera lens. He put on that beautiful smile of his as the tourist told them to say cheese. One flash for one camera. And another for the other. So maybe it would be a similar picture. One might come out better than the other. Or one man might keep one camera and that set of pictures and the other camera the other's... Maybe.

When they were through, Thomas thanked the tourist, took the cameras, and handed one back to Sal. "Figured I'd get the ball rolling," he chuckled. He kept the camera in one hand, then his other... found Sal's once more. "Let's go get in line now. Unless you have anymore detours to drag us on," he teased.

Sal scowled and huffed a number of protests while Thomas paid for the cameras. He hadn’t come up with the idea so Thomas could fund it, after all. He allowed it though, grudgingly, making sure the brunet was well aware that he wasn’t pleased about it. The irritation melted though once payment was taken care of and Thomas took his hand once more. Sighing, he let the ‘issue’ go and accepted his camera, following Thomas back out of the gift shop.

He was a bit surprised when Thomas went about setting things up for them to be photographed together. Surprised, but pleased. His stomach and chest fluttered, pleasure swirling in his belly and curling the edge of his mouth. He handed over his camera with ease, looking at Thomas as if the brunet had awed him in some manner; thankfully, just short of gapping at the man.

He’d have a picture with Thomas. At least this one. It was more than he had expected.

Standing beside the other man, close, though following suit and not actually touching the brunet. However, he knew the first photo had to have captured him still looking at Thomas, soft smile and all. The second one though, he was sure to look at the camera.

Hand in hand with his friend once more, Sal took back his camera and willingly allowed the brunet to direct them towards the line that would eventually take them inside the giant green lady. He smirked at the teasing, bumping shoulders playfully with the other man. “You hush. Don’t even try to act like the cameras weren’t a good idea. My detours are always worth wild.”

He took them over to the line formed outside the statue, glancing up the enormous length of the giant they were going inside. He quirked a smirk as he tucked a glance over to Thomas, fingers flexing around the brunet’s and shoulder dropping a bit so as to lean in just so while he teased. “Nervous? Your first time in a lady and all…”

The Englishman felt the bump of Sal's shoulder and he let another smile surface to his lips. "Now you're putting words in my mouth." he chuckled. He looked back to the camera in his other hand. "They were a good idea. Not denying that," he mused quietly.

His eyes too were quickly distracted by the tall monument they'd be taking a little journey inside of. He then glanced back to Sal as he ventured back to his prior pun, which brought a grin to Thomas' face. "Nah. I have the King of Bonks leading me, I think I'll be fine," he gave the other man a taunting look. Right, Thomas considered Sal a bit on the whorish side. And in no way seemed to recall the softer side of the blond he'd begun to draw out of him, wine-drunken and unconsciously, the night prior. Life sure could be a bitch when it wanted to.

The line to get in was rather long. The two men had a while to just slowly trudge through with little else to do. Some of that time was quiet. Some was the sharing of little jeers back and forth. And others were simple conversation. None the less, a smile remained on Thomas face and his hand was still nestled within Sal's.

When they got up to the ticket window, Thomas shook his head to the man inside, and flicked out from his wallet two tickets. Pre purchased. Ye gods the Brit was prepared. He spared Sal a glance then smiled.

"... Internet said to buy in advance," he grinned. It was about the only way one could even get to the top of the giant green woman. Otherwise the monument was so crowded and busy. Eventually they got into the base of the Lady Liberty. Thomas looked around curiously. More tourists and their children were flittering about inside. And there was another line... to head up to the crown of the Statue.

Funny thing about humans, they always seemed to want to get to the peak of everything, Thomas idly mused to himself. He stole a glance back to Sal. He'd about forgotten their hands were locked. Just a natural connection they kept making. And he'd grown used to having that warmth against his palm.

Taking the taunt in stride, Sal shook his head. “King? Nah, I’d say I’m more of a Duke… maybe the Prince.” He winked, playing, but couldn’t help the little prick of displeasure in the pit of his stomach. Thomas might be teasing him, but in every joke, Sal knew, there was some truth. The Brit thought of him as a loose, male whore ready and willing to drop his pants at a word or look. It was unfortunate, but he couldn’t honestly be mad about it… it was his own fault, after all.

“Either way, you’re in good hands, sweetheart,” he continued as they entered the green lady.

He’d have to figure out a way to convince Thomas he wasn’t… well, he was loose, but he didn’t want to be. Which was weird. He’d never had a problem with how he did things before, and he honestly didn’t now, but it wasn’t as disturbing or difficult to decide he wanted to change his ways as he’d thought it would be. Thomas didn’t want a loose “King of Bonks”, as he’d put it, and so… Sal didn’t want to be that guy in the brunet’s eyes. He’d gotten a taste of something beautiful the night before, as painful as it had turned out to be, and he wanted more.

What that meant, he wasn’t totally ready to figure out, but that didn’t make it any less true. He wanted Thomas and so long as he was a loose, male whore in his eyes, he’d never get him. Unfortunately, Sal had no idea how he was supposed to convince Thomas he wasn’t… that he didn’t want to be like that anymore. That for him, he wanted to change.

Inside now, Sal gave a look around. This was really cool. He glanced at the man beside him, still holding his hand, and grinned, “So? Whatcha think? Cool, huh?”

Thomas glanced back to the blond. He smiled and gave a nod. "Mmhmm." he let out the happy little hum. He was a man of learning. And of course seeing something new like this was invigorating and exciting to the brunet. Even with all the tourists around stuffing up the place. Though honestly it had been no worse than seeing the Eiffel Tower during a trip to Paris. Once again, tickets to the top were special, and there were crowds of people wanting to get up there as well, or so Thomas recalled.

Without a word, he snapped a few pictures of the pedestal's interior, before giving Sal a tug over to the line of people waiting their turn to go up to the peak. He looked to their tickets, as he soon leaned up against one of the nearby walls. "Hope you're ready to work off all that pizza. There's no elevators in this woman. All stairs. Spiral stairs at that," he chuckled a bit. Was true, if his memory served. Roughly 300 something stairs from her pedestal base up to her head. His eyes flicked up to meet Sal's again.

"... Paul would have liked this," he smiled faintly. Okay so maybe bringing up Sal's dead twin wasn't the best idea when they were suppose to be having fun, but he couldn't help but think of his dead lover. After all, visiting all sorts of famous cities and sight seeing had been on their list of things to do once they finished up their time at Hopkins. But now that wouldn't be a reality. At least not something they would share. Thomas had a feeling though his lover would scowl down at him from beyond the grave if he didn't go and explore the world anyway. None the less, it wouldn't be the same.

Thomas dully noted a few more people were let in to ascend the statue. They they moved up a little in line.

There came a tap to Sal's shoulder. A young woman was standing behind them. She smiled hesitantly, but sweetly. "Excuse me, this is the line to go up to the crown isn't it?" she asked. Thomas glanced over, as he heard the woman addressing Sal. Idly he glanced her up and down. A slender girl, with natural red curls and cute rosy hues on her cheeks. Thomas glanced up to Sal then before gently dropping his hand. Made it a bit harder to flirt if Sal was holding hands with a guy right?

And there it was again, that nasty little pang in his chest. He'd felt it last night too, when Sal had given that innocent little flirt to their waitress at Lombardi's. He swallowed back a bitter taste in the back of his throat, then put on his best carefree smile. Nope, no bothers here. What did he care? Sal was single. He could do what he wanted when it came to other people. Of course if he had been Paul, Thomas would have gladly yanked the other man closer, lay his claim on him out in the open. But... Sal wasn't Paul.

Yeah, Paul would have liked this. Sal knew enough to recognize that and nodded. He also wasn’t fool enough to think Thomas would rather be seeing the New York sights with him rather than Paul. He knew Thomas would rather be joking and talking and teasing and holding hands with Paul… and once again, the blond felt his stomach drop. Whether or not Thomas always recognized him as a separate entity from Paul, Sal knew Thomas still would prefer to trade him out with the other, deceased man. If Thomas had his choice, Sal wouldn’t be here at all with him…

The tap on his shoulder lifted his brows and turned his head in surprise, blue eyes landing on the cute young woman asking for his attention. She was pretty, slim, and seemed very nice. He instantly liked her, body recognizing the physical attraction. He smiled back at her, mood and manner shifting without conscious thought.

However, all instinctive plans to flirt and put his cards into a possible favorable outcome came to a screeching halt. The comfortable, comforting warmth and pressure around his palm disappeared and Sal hesitated in answering the girl’s question. He looked over at Thomas instead, then down at his empty hand. He flexed his fingers a bit, frowning slightly at them, and then lifted his gaze back up to Thomas.

Glancing at the girl, noting her rosy cheeks and lovely red curls framing her sweet face, Sal soaked in the sight of her before looking once more at Thomas. Tidy brown hair that he knew for a fact was just as soft as it looked, softer even, like silk between his fingers. Thomas’ skin was clear of put on color, every and any blush Sal might ever see on his face pure and sincere. There was a soft smile on his lips that for a reason Sal couldn’t name, the blond didn’t really believe. And the Brit’s eyes… Sal got stuck on the man’s eyes as he looked at him. They were more beautiful, in Sal’s opinion, than the girl’s whole package.

“Uh… yah,” Sal finally answered, lamely realizing he hadn’t done so yet and had just been standing there, silently staring at and looking over Thomas. He blinked over at the girl, nodding back towards the back of the line and offered a final smile that lacked the attracting brightness to the grin he usually wore when speaking, flirting, with a lovely woman or man even.

“Line starts back there, but yeah,” Sal nodded at her again. “This one’ll take take ya up to the crown.”

He basically disregarded her after that, averting his eyes away and turning his body to place his back to her once again. He looked at Thomas, unsure if the girl was still there or not but no longer caring, and gently extended his hand again. He tilted his head, eyes jumping up and down and all around Thomas’ face as he grazed his fingertips against the brunet’s hand.

He couldn’t fully figure out why the contact between them had been severed, though he could hazard a guess that it was because of the girl. Whatever the reason, Sal wanted it back. He wanted Thomas to hold his hand, he wanted that warm comfort. Whether or not it would be allowed as he grazed his fingers against the side of the man’s hand, watching his face, silently asking permission through his fingertips, Sal didn’t know… but he wanted it, bad, and was willing to take the chance.

There was no reason for Thomas to take his hand – they were standing mostly still in a line, no threat of being separated anywhere in sight. But… Sal’s heart was hammering ridiculously fast and hard in his chest, his hopes up, body wanting it just as much as his heart apparently did.

Thomas was quiet, though he didn't avoid looking at the other man as he felt the blond's eyes wander over him. He wasn't quite sure what to think of that, though he remained quiet as Sal finally answered the attractive redhead. Hm... nothing more than a simple response. No flirting, no charming smiles. He blinked twice, eyes faintly trailing over Sal's face. The woman seemed to have been forgotten. And shortly, Thomas felt the brush of fingers against his palm. Glancing down, Thomas looked at the blond's hand lingering near his own. A light touch or two.

Green eyes lifted back up to meet Sal's. Couldn't say he'd really seen the other silently ask for his touch like this. It was a bit peculiar and he found himself... a little confused. None the less, his chest warmed a bit and he took hold on Sal's hand again in his own. He cleared his throat then, as he turned his gaze from Sal and looked at the people in line in front of them. A hint of a little smile tweaked his lips. Maybe Sal had a bit more tact than he thought.

The line got shorter as they moved on up. A small group was let in, a few people at a time. Before long, Thomas and Sal were at the front of the line. Thomas had gone a bit quiet, though it wasn't exactly out of awkwardness. He seemed to be observing the people around them.

A hint of a smile came to his lips. "... Won't be long now," he mused quietly to himself. He glanced toward Sal then. Their hands remained interlocked in line, hanging between the two of them. Thomas wasn't bothered by what people might think about the two of them holding hands, and it seemed Sal didn't mind either. Though he supposed it did give off... a bit of the wrong vibes. As if they were an item... or something.

Thomas brushed off the thought. And before long, they were let in with a handful of other people. He grinned, excitement brewing in his belly. They began the long journey up the spiral stairs. Thomas then got out his camera to begin snapping photos. One snap looking up the length of the stairs, another few of the interesting interior of the Lady Liberty, and soon a few as they got closer to the top of the giant statue.

"Astounding..." he murmured, all the while his other hand remained tightly coiled around Sal's. Seems he wouldn't be letting go now. He stole a few glances to the blond beside him. Thomas was all smiles, his obvious excitement coming through in the pleasant expression on his face. He was really enjoying himself. Even through all the lines, tourists and waiting, he was content. Probably because he had good company to keep him occupied while waiting... would have been his guess.

When they finally reached the top, Thomas' grip on Sal's hand tightened a bit more. He tugged him along, sparing a glance over his shoulder to the other man, before he stopped at one of the little windows that peeked out over the bay and the giant city beyond. The wind was fluttering outside, enough to reach the tourists within the crown and ruffle their clothes and hair. The crown was pretty crowded, and once the last few people trailed up, it was getting a bit packed. Thomas glanced at the other people around them, before looking back up to Sal. The close quarters had once more caused them to be... pushed up together a bit closely, much as it had previously in the gift shop.

Thomas felt the familiar heat of Sal's body nestled against his own. His eyes flicked over the blond's face. He managed a hesitant smile, cleared his throat, then looked back out the little window. His hand in Sal's remained ever locked, though his other soon lifted and rubbed a bit over his lips. He had to wonder... why in the world his heart was pounding in his chest in those moments.

Sal had to remind himself to snap a few shots with his camera as they made the climb up the spiral stairs of Lady Liberty. He was distracted a bit, after all. Thomas had accepted his hand back and his palm buzzed with the pleasant heat of the other man’s against his. He could really get used to this feeling… as ridiculous as it was, especially for a guy like him. Thomas Hayward should be amongst the last men Salvatore Durante should want, and yet… he was beyond denying, at least to himself, that he did want the Brit. Truly. Deeply. He wanted him like he shouldn’t. Wanted him physically, but also emotionally and mentally. He just wanted the brunet. And even though he knew it was more than a long shot, beyond unlikely to ever happen, he couldn’t help but hope as he held the man’s hand.

For now though, likely forever, the night before would have to satisfy him. The secret intimacy would have to stay with him and him alone. A fond memory of ‘what if’, and nothing more.

While standing with Thomas at the window, Sal let himself indulge a little and snapped a quick photo of the brunet looking out at the view – his dark hair caught by the wind and face lightly flushed with pleasure. The Italian’s lips quirked lightly as he lowered the camera.

The close press of others around them ultimately led Sal to turn his body in towards Thomas. He braced his free forearm against the edge of the window, other hand still snuggly wrapped in the Brit’s, the tilt and lean of his body causing him to practically lean over the other man as they were pushed close due to the crowd. The blond noted the look over his face received from his companion and also watched as Thomas rubbed fingers against his mouth, the action thoughtful (and distracting for Sal, who couldn’t help but remember how it felt to kiss those lips).

“So?” Sal made himself speak as they stood close together by the window. He quirked a smile at the other, leaning his temple against the hand braced against the wall and gazing at Thomas like the view was him and not what could be seen beyond the window. “Whatdya think? Worth the climb up?”

The air around them seemed to heat up a couple more degrees. Sure maybe it was just the fact a handful of people were all bunched together up in the crown of Lady Liberty, but Thomas couldn't help but wonder if it had to do with the man standing behind him. In fact he was quite sure of it. Good lord he felt... nervous. Why did he feel nervous? Shy, demure... He hadn't been like this around the other man, so why now....?

Green eyes scanned over the hand that was braced on the frame of the window. His gaze then lifted to meet Sal's. A few moments passed, till Thomas realized he'd forgotten to breath. He drew in a shaky breath then let it out. He blinked twice, practically missing that the other man was talking to him.

"Ah? ... Oh... the climb up... " he murmured. He flicked his gaze away and back to the window. He could still feel the blue gaze of the other man on him. And needless to say he was feeling... hot under the collar. "Yeah... so worth it," he smiled a little. "

Idly he swiped his tongue over his lips, eyes cast toward the scenery outside and downward. "It's really beautiful," he added. His voice was softer than he'd anticipated it'd be when it came out. He cleared it then. Heh, was... hard to look Sal in the eye then. Seemed easier to keep his gaze out the window.

His gaze softened though, as his eyes scanned the horizon, and his body relaxed a little with Sal beside him. Various questions rose to his mind then: things he would like to ask the blond beside him. But now, in this public place with so many people crowding them, was hardly the right setting...

They shared a few comments here and there for the while they were up there. But eventually their guide began to usher them back down. After all, the next group had to go up. The crowding dissipated, and Thomas was able to gain some space between his and Sal's frames. None the less, his hand kept that warm grip.

Once they got back down to the ground, Thomas helped lead Sal through the masses of people and outside. He then took in a deep breath of the fresh air, before turning back around to take one more look up at the tall woman standing there on that island. He felt a bit better, being outside, where the temperature could be kept a bit cooler...

His gaze then flicked to Sal as he spared him a smile. "... Hm... where to next?" he mused. Anything to keep himself distracted... To keep him from sitting back and really acknowledging these feelings welling up within.
