Travis let out a slight laugh. "A01 you're the one that gave me the idea and now you say it's not a good idea?" he turned around, hands on his hips as he let his pants rest low on his hips, unbuttoned. "Do YOU want to try it or not? I'm almost positive you could win." He gave him a smile and finished getting dressed. "You think about it. I want to go take photos... " he walked to his closet and pulled it open. The small walk in room had been converted into a photography dark room behind a heavy black curtain that divided the already small room in two. The shelves were lined in tools he needed. He picked up his camera bag and slipped out again. "Let's go A01.." He patted it's hip affectionately. |

A01 straightened up. "It Was Just A Subect To Talk About. The Final Decision On Wether Or Not You Wish Me To Participate In A Gladiator Club Fight Is In Your Hands, Of Course." it admitted. Travis' father couldn't blame it if he found out, after all, and though A01 was a little unusual for a Guardian, it still had to follow its masters' orders. It followed after the boy, admittedly happy about the change of subject. It wasn't that A01 wanted to participate or not, but it truly didn't want Travis to get in trouble. There was also the issue of not being able to watch over its master during a fight, or if it was badly damaged. The idea of letting another Guardian do its work instead was... not something A01 liked. Travis' father did own more than one Guardian Angel, and they were all competent enough to serve as the teenager's bodyguard, but Travis had always been A01's master, for as long as its memory logs could reach. They'd never been appart. |

Travis glanced back. "We will go watch the fights... Until I've seen one I don't want to think about putting you in one." he headed out the back door with the Guardian Angel. He didn't want a different Guardian Angel, so if it was too violent he wouldn't put A01 in it. "Would you hold my bag a moment?" he held it out, knowing the robot would never drop it. He bent down and retied his show. "I think I want to go to the lake today." He looked up at the other as he said it. "You up for that long of a walk?" He smiled at the Guardian Angel, knowing it would say yes. "Master Travis.." A maid walked out onto the patio with them. "Your father left a note for you that he would not be home again tonight." "Alright..thanks. A01 and I are going to take photos.. would you have dinner ready by nine please?" "Of course sir." She walked in and closed the door. "Think four hours is long enough A01?" He looked up at the robot as he stood from tying his shoe. |

A01, as expected, nodded at its master. "It Might Be Advisable To Bring Something For You To Eat As A Snack. There Is A Sandwitch Shop On The Way." It suggested. Waiting four hours to eat after coming back from school couldn't be healthy for a growing young man, especially one who was as active as Travis. A01 preferred not to have to cause its master any discomfort, and though it would be happy to carry Travis back home if his feet hurt, the boy's father wouldn't like it at all. It looked impassively at the maid, knowing that most of the servants either ignored its presence, or tried to avoid it completely. They were just... uncomfortable with it, unlike Travis, who almost treated it like... a friend. It came to no surprise that Travis' father wouldn't be there until late. He was, after all, a busy man. Strangely enough, A01 didn't feel the same warmth towards him as it felt for its young master, even though he was, technically, its main owner. Was it because he was never there for his son and wife? Was it because he was so... cold, so distant, almost less human in his feelings than A01? Or was there something else? The Guardian didn't get to dwell on this thought for too long. "You May Take As Much Time As You See Fit, Provided That You Are Back Home Before Ten. These Are The Rules, And I Will Be Forced To Make You Obey Them." |

Travis smiled at the robot. "You don't have to worry so much. Even if it is your job. I'm not hungry but I guess picking something up on the way might be a good idea." He shook his head at the serious tone the robot took when telling him he would have to enforce the rules. "A01 You know better than anyone I am always home on time." He took his camera bag back from the robot and slung it over his shoulder gently, making sure to not jostle it too much. "Let's go." he made a point to stop and dig his wallet out of his messenger back and stick it in his camera bag, what use was stopping to get a sandwich with now money? He sighed a bit and walked out. "I do hope father has been visiting mother." he spoke softly, walking just ahead of A01. He was still thinking about his mother... he knew her death was inevitable but part of him would die along with her when she went. He stopped and looked back to his robot. Mostly to get his mind off his mother he turned his mind to making sure that A01 was functioning properly before they took the half hour walk to the lake. "Do you need any fine adjustments before we go A01?" He always carried a small repair kit on him, just in case. Most owners of Guardian Angel units were smart enough to actually learn how the bots worked and understand how to make minor adjustments until they could get to a licensed repair shop. He of course knew how to do more than the average owner, but he still never opened the bot up, not that he knew how. He was actually curious as to how they worked on a lower level, and knowing one day he'd have to take over his father's company he knew he'd get to know. |

"There Is No Need To Concern Yourself About This." A01 said. "My Last Tune-Up Was Quite Recent, And Turned Out No Immediate Issues You Should Worry About." Not that it knew what had happened then. A01 got regular check-ups from the company, usually once to twice per week, during which it was completely disabled and unaware of its surroundings. Even its core went to sleep then. Had it thought about it, the Guardian would have found this strange. A fully operational Guardian Angel that needed to be completely shut down for an hour or so twice per week? Was there something among its circuits that didn't work well? Its structural data always showed that it was in excellent conditions, though... Some of these check-ups were done when its master was asleep, or in school. Actually, Travis had never attended any of these himself. He will not know about them. A01 straightened up suddenly. Sometimes came a line of code that completely stopped its thought process on some subjects. It was... quite frustrating, that there were some things like this it was not allowed to contemplate. "You Need To Take Your Coat, As Well. The Weather Forecast Is Sunny, But It Will Get Colder." |

Travis frowned only slightly "A01...it is perfectly sunny out" he humored the robot though and slid his jacket on as they passed the coat rack. He patted the Guardian Angel's leg and smiled up at him. "Let's go then." He often saw A01 stiffen his back, and the robot would change subjects. He'd never really thought to much about it, but he was noticing a trend. He himself had the knowledge to fix those minor problems himself, but he'd never had to...and when he mentioned it A01 would change the subject moments later as if it were an unpleasant topic. He always passed it off as a secondary control his father had put in to keep him from using illegal parts on A01 or doing anything to let the bot get damaged. "A01 are you sure nothing is malfunctioning? I really do worry." He shouldered his bag and gave the robot a kind smile. He glanced away a moment later as he headed for the front door. He stepped out before the robot and turned to wait, watching the massive body guard move forward. He'd never taken photos of the robot before, he realized this now as he watched the robot. Perhaps he would have to take one... at least one. He smiled to himself and turned to walk away. He doubted A01 really knew what it looked like anyway. Perhaps the robot would like that. |

A01 dutifully followed its master outside. It knew that Travis was old enough to take care of himself without constantly getting reminded about such details as dressing properly for the weather or feeding himself. This was the role of the parents, not of a gigantic robot bodyguard. However, caring for the boy was written in its very code. More than this, it felt like it was the best thing to do. The Guardian pondered Travis' question. "All Readings Are Normal At The Moment. Yes, I Am Certain That Nothing Is Malfunctionning. Should You Want To Make Sure Yourself, I Could Report Back To The Maintenance Bay As Soon As We Return Tonight." It suggested to ease the boy's worries. Travis' concerns were normal, after all. His mother was currently dying in a hospital bed, he needed all the support he could get. If A01 broke down then, the poor boy would be devastated. However, the Guardian was in such perfect condition, despite its strange thoughts, that you would never guess that it wasn't brand new. All replacements had been made progressively, keeping as much of the original chassis as possible, without changing its outer appearance if that could be avoided. Travis' father could afford this. In fact, some of the parts were completely unique. |
