"Yeah. I saw that," Rei spoke rather stiffly, rubbing at his jaw that seemed to itch obnoxiously. It was the reason he hadn't bothered to look at the newspaper, knowing that with the amount of cameras flashing, it would certainly receive quite a spot in the Arts section of the paper.

Aggravating, how a musical staring pompous individuals could act like fools in front of the media before and receive more attention, no matter how much effort and grandeur a classical music concert had to offer.

Rei never stayed to find out if Isaac messed back. He didn't want to find out. "Why even put yourself in a position to be messed with?" He mumbled, frowning as the most confusing question hadn't even been answered. "Why go to an ex who messes with you the day after..."

He trailed off, not willing to go on. Great. Many Isaac coming over wasn't a good idea. He'd really make sure the man went to sleep. He needed to focus on work. Ugh...work.

But, knowing that no matter how much he wanted to throttle the other...he did throw him a rope. A small, little rope. "He picked the wrong man to get friendly with. You constantly change cities," he spoke idly, wondering what went through the mans mind. "Just...don't do it again."

The thing was...Bradley sent him flowers, and tickets, and seriously, even though Isaac hated his guts, he...okay, rewind, the whole point was going and telling him that he didn't want to see him again. Isaac wasn't worth coming to New York for. Considering how much Bradley absolutely despised the city. But of course Rei wouldn't believe him, both Bell and--Pearce himself, had told him that the latter got insanely insanely jealous.

And so that had been a bad idea. But Isaac's intentions had been good and gold. Mostly.

"Look, he's just like that, and I didn't go to the musical to let him mess with me, that'd be stupid. I actually just went to set the record straight...and if you've even bothered to read the paper at all--" (which he probably didn't) "You would have realized why I unplugged my phone since yesterday morning." After all, everyone wanted to know who Isaac Langley, who Bradley St. Ryan crossed an ocean for, was involved with.

He reached over a hand and smoothed his thumb against Pearce's jaw, he was never good at groveling, but this whole ordeal was making him quite adept. "Come on, don't be like this...this was why I was going to bring it up later and actually explain...did he pick the wrong man to mess with because I changed cities a lot or because I'm going out with you?"

(Isaac changed cities because he seemed to incur exes everywhere, even New York suddenly seemed too small.)

Rei didn't respond to the mans explanations, taking them in silently and taking them apart. Isaac did seem surprised by the whole thing. But he should have known better than to respond to the mans call and meet him in front of the media. Meeting in private and meeting with dozens of flashing cameras and screaming fans was quite different.

Jumping slightly as the hand went over his skin, his light eyes glanced at the man, who really did look sorry. "...Because you change cities. It's ridiculous."

No matter how it seemed, Rei had little power. He had extremely powerful friends, but personally, he could do little. "What's the worst that I can do to him anyway? The media knows I hate musicals and only show up when Nick forces me to go. I doubt my baton and I could do him serious damage."

Which was a lie but he wasn't going to be sharing that story.

"You have a strange taste in who you end up liking."

That included Rei. Perhaps that was why Isaac had no choice but to move cities.

Well, firstly, the cameras were a miscalculation, Isaac really was going to go to his dressing room and yell at him later because that seemed like the thing to do. He hadn't, however, been expecting cameras and mass media to meet him full force. He let his fingers linger, and then dropped his hand. Of course Pearce would say that. But this was a good time to explain as any. "I don't change cities just because I feel like it. It's a bitch moving around all the time, I never move unless someone gives me the reason to."

And that was true enough, He had left New York, the London Phil, the London Opera Players, Lyon, Boston for the same reason: an ex. He'd only come back because the last time he checked, Charlotte had moved to Indiana and was happily married. Good for her.

But that got a twitch out of Isaac, at least, "Really? Well, if your baton can't do serious damage, you're probably not using it right." Not that a baton was Isaac's favorite thing to mess with, but still. That wasn't the point.

"You're telling me," Isaac sighed. His excuse was that he was young and just stupid. But he wasn't quite as young or quite as stupid anymore.

"...Besides, running into exes aren't exactly a hobby of mine, I don't bloody get off on it, you know. Can we please...let it go for now?"

Moving around just because of a breakup didn't seem to make sense. All of Rei's ex's still lived in the city and none of them moved. Then again, running into each other wasn't exactly a pleasurable experience either but it was rare. It seemed strange to move just because of a single individual.

"...Don't make me tell you stories that you'll regret hearing." Rei warned lightly. "How are you supposed to watch me conduct if all you think about is how I can--no, never mind. I'm not telling you that story."

Ah, the first time he picked up his baton. Memories. Poor man though...just had to stand right there of all places...

"Nobody gets off running into ex's. And I've been trying to give you a way to change topics for the past five minutes."

It had failed but whatever. Rei wasn't going to focus on that blond moron...he was going to instead watch the man squirm.

"How in the world have you unhooked your phone if you gave me the honor of listening in to a rather intriguing phone call in the nude?"

Of course there was a lot of stories that Isaac wasn't going to get. Same for Pearce, Isaac thought that the stories he could potentially end up telling were extremely x-rated and Pearce probably wouldn't appreciate them. He could chalk it all up to the wondrous stupidity of youth. So he let it go. Besides, it wasn't like Isaac didn't have an imagination. "I doubt that I'm going to doubt any story that you have to tell me, but whatever. Moving just seems easier, that's all."

Since Pearce was also doing him the favor of changing subjects. "I meant the hardline in the apartment, Matthias and I never use it, we use our cells. The paparazzi usually get that phone number...I don't know how he knew my cell." Bradley was Bradley though, and he was right, he knew more people than Isaac did.

Wouldn't have been difficult, "You know I'm not functioning a hundred percent right now, Jesus..."

Although he was glad when they'd finally reached Pearce's apartment complex, the taxi driver looked a bit scarred. Although Pearce said he would pay, Isaac took the opportunity and paid anyway. It was just money, and he had plenty of it.

And maybe that would help him get on the man's good side again, but...well, the fact of the matter was, Isaac was going to sleep and Rei was going to work. Such a strange arrangement.

Before Rei could pay, Isaac did. It caused him to sigh, give him a light tap on the thigh and get out of the vehicle before stretching a bit. He replayed that night in his head, remembering how the man truly didn't seem to enjoy the attention and had probably wanted nothing more than to set the record straight.

"I know," he spoke, quite aware that he was abusing the mans sick state. He nodded at security which let them in before they slowly made their way up to his apartment.

Unlocking the door and placing the oranges he swiped on a nearby counter, he leaned up and kissed the man lightly. "I'll let you off the hook this time."

With that, he took off his coat and pressed his toes to his heels as he took off his shoes, glancing at the dark haired man behind him.

"Now go get some sleep. You remember where the bedroom is, don't you?"

As could be expected, by the time that they made their way up to Pearce's apartment, Isaac's mood was sour. It made him almost unable to appreciate the feat he had accomplished. "I didn't exactly do that to you when you were sick--" And of course Isaac knew that Pearce was hiding something. What he was hiding was another story altogether. Did he even want to know? After all, the bet ended at the end of next week, and Isaac Langley was still didn't do long term.

The kiss made up for it just a little...not at all.

"Yeah, yeah, I remember. Come in and feed me oranges later, don't work too hard." With that, Isaac made his way to the bedroom. He could smell the faint scent of smoke that still clung to the sheets.

Isaac helped himself to the pile of blankets--for obvious reasons, Pearce had more blankets than Isaac did--and stared at the ceiling.

He was digging himself into some deep shit. Somehow, he just knew it. But now, it was too late to backtrack on it, he closed his eyes and let his mind drift.

Rei nodded, immediately going to the table and looking through the many pieces that pilled across. It was ridiculous, as the conductor began to multitask, calling people he needed to while going over music, penciling and going through things like a machine.

It had become a reflex for him at this point. Two hours went by in a flash before Rei realized what time it was, picking up an orange and realizing it was time to make due on his promise.

He peeled it before hand, making sure to get the annoying white strings that clung to the slices gone before throwing the remains in the garbage, yawning as he walked into his bedroom and slowly walked toward the bed, noticed just how wrapped up in the blankets the man was. It was adorable really.

Tempting to not go back to work even. But that naughty thought was pushed away as Rei sat on the bed, leaning over and wondering if the man was sleeping.

If not, he'd feed him the orange and talk a bit. If he was...well, Rei would think of something then.

Isaac was half-conscious for maybe a good hour or two, he never really fell asleep, because he had trouble sleeping in strange places, but it was restful all the same. The apartment was still, as if Pearce really was so hard at work that he was trying to commit suicide while working. Wouldn't put it past him, really.

But when he heard vague footsteps, Isaac groaned and stirred. To his surprise, Pearce was there holding an orange like he promised. Although whether it was the promise itself, or the fact that Isaac had asked him...

Ngh, thinking about this kind of thing hurt his head right now.

"Holy shit it's a miracle, you stopped working," Of course that would have been more sarcastic-sounding if he were more awake. But as Isaac was not, he managed after a few minutes to untangle himself from the blankets and patted the space next to him.

"C'mere, it's warm," and hopefully warm enough to tempt Pearce into not going to work. Isaac's being sick had its advantages, probably.

Rei smiled as the man was indeed awake. Though he didn't seem happy about it. He ignored the meant to be sarcastic comment, balancing the orange in his hand before he crawled over the space that was patted.

He had a large bed. Rei had always loved large beds, saved up, and got himself a nice beautiful King sized bed decorated with soft pillows, many warm comfortable blankets, and what ended up giving him more enjoyment than a bed really should.

Feeding the man oranges was something he did agree to, so he could take a few minutes off to do so. He'd have to go back to work after but he could amuse the man temporarily, especially after bringing up a topic that Isaac certainly didn't want to be brought up in the first place. Rei could spoil him a bit.

"It is warm," he agreed, noting just how slow the movements of the man were, raising a hand as he unruffled the messy black strands.

He didn't know what quite to say, leaning against the mans shoulder and enjoying the heat. He should have brought tea with him but he'd do that later. When he made food. Which he needed to figure out. What in the world should he make?

Isaac grinned at him, and then spread the blankets over the both of them so they could both be comfortably cocooned. And then he laid down on the pillows again, "Probably not warm enough to distract you, but here's to hoping, really." He tilted his head and dropped a kiss to Pearce's forehead. Maybe he would miss this when next week came. This was nice, and the man was good at taking care of other people, just not himself.

Or...

Isaac got a flash of an idea, well, it wasn't a flash of an idea actually. But it was wholly practical. "I was thinking," he said, as he helped himself to a slice of orange and chewed slowly, "That if I'm going to be staying here until we go off to rehearsal, it'd kind of be a pain in the ass to go back to my apartment just to get my violin."

"I know that you refuse to play it for whatever reason, but I think you at least have one in the apartment somewhere...can I borrow it for tonight?"

A long stretch, but if Isaac's plan went smoothly, then all would be well.

The grin made him feel better. It was better than the scowling sick man who went to sleep. This one was grinning, cuddly and warm. Almost enough to distract him. Rei decided that just once, he would humor the violinist. "I'll stay for a few minutes."

It was more than he was initially planning, so it was an improvement. The conductor immediately nestled against the man under his many blankets, finding the familiar mattress comforting.

A slice was taken but that didn't bother Rei. What surprised him was the question. He immediately got what the man was inferring to. He wanted to borrow his violin.

His violin. Rei didn't even let Alice touch that violin. Not that Isaac would know that. The sacred item that had its own little corner in a private room, taken care of but never played. He did have a violin.

Two violins. "Just be careful with it," he spoke, not verbally mentioning which of the two he would give. The second one was good, playing perfectly...but it didn't have the emotional and memorial weight as the other one. The one Julia gave him.

Well, it wasn't like Isaac was like his nephews. Isaac and Matthias had a grand total of five violins in the house. One was so shitty that it wasn't even worth putting up on Ebay, so they just kept it for laughs. The other four could by three Cadillacs combined. And besides, he also was a violinist. Not just any violinist, Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic.

A little while was good enough, Isaac could work from that.

Though he did blink, "I was expecting a tad more resistance than that, but all right, thank you. Of course I'd take care of it, who do you think I am?" Certainly not some pompous blonde...Isaac was bigheaded but he was only bigheaded within reason.

He ate another slice of orange and then took another one, held it up to Pearce's mouth, "You might as well have one...can I see it? I haven't played in a while since I've gotten sick. I wouldn't want to give you any chance to unseat me."

Hell, Pearce would unseat him next week, anyway without question, if...

...If Isaac broke up with him. But...he didn't have to. He liked this, even though the man held him at arm's length and always kept his distance--

"We can argue about using my violin for a few hours if that's what you want," Rei spoke, rolling his eyes slightly as he watched the man eat another slice of orange. Before he knew it though, once was offered to him, making him smile as he opened his mouth and ate it, making sure his tongue lightly brushed over the mans finger before chewing innocently.

"I thought you wanted me to stay in bed. Can't I get it later?"

Rei was quite warm. So warm and comfortable that he was beginning to strongly debate leaving. But Isaac was smart, realizing that even though they were in a relationship, that didn't mean that Rei was going to be biased in any sort of way.

Oh no, if Isaac couldn't play, even if they were dating, Rei would keep him out before smiling and saying that he'll call later.

Realizing he was neglecting his role, Rei took a slice of orange, with only a few left and offered it to Isaac's mouth, wondering once more what was going on through the mans head.
