"Don't remind me of my youth, hormones and stupidity. I have enough stories of my years at Julliard for them to hide my very existence," Rei mumbled, remembering a particularly bad prank. They had learned the hard way that turning the pool into jello wasn't as easy as it sounded. Rei didn't argue as they moved, waiting until they were back in the bedroom and the door was closed before responding. He sat on the bed, leaning against Isaac as his thought began to analyze, just by habit. "I'm your boss. Off course he's being weird," he pointed out, wondering just how the rest of the phil would take it. Best not think about it and simply try to avoid such a situation. "Dinner was good though," he spoke softly as he felt the mans warmth that slowly melted down the icy barriers he held up. "Thanks for inviting me." Which was redundant considering he had come over because Isaac was sick. Not that it mattered or made a difference at the moment. |

"Everyone needs to be reminded of their youth, hormones, and stupidity." Isaac moved to spread out the blanket over Rei too when the other man leaned against him, "Especially people like you. I promise I'll only do it once in a while. If people don't remember, they'll get boring and they'll get bored. I don't want that to happen to you...and you're very welcome, for the dinner. Least I could do after you played nurse." "Maybe." Isaac agreed amiably, he knew why, really. But if Rei knew why he'd really be in all sorts of trouble. "I'm not worried about it...it's just a bit different." After all, it wasn't like Rei Pearce was the first authoritative figure he had pulled over. Was Matthias mad because Isaac was doing too good of a job? Couldn't be, his friend was usually a good sport about losing. Didn't know about the rest of the phil, though. Tilting his head slightly to the right, his lips found skin and Isaac kissed a light path to Rei's lips and licked his mouth before kissing him. It wasn't as if the walls weren't thick. And then he pulled back and stared at the ceiling. If Rei wanted to take it further, he could. It was an open invitation. |

Especially people like him? Rei frowned though he didn't argue, wondering if the man was seeing something he didn't. He certainly wasn't bored with his life , in fact, he almost wished he was. He had enough dramatics, which still didn't even seem to want to end, all circling around him and usually, around his fingers that conducted instead of played. "Only...once in a whole," Rei agreed before staying silent on the Matthias issue. He didn't think it was his place to put any more opinions in, seeing as if Isaac seemed to mentally have come up with an answer all on his own. Best not question the sick, better to plague them and demand answers when they are healthy. He wasn't given a lot of time to think after, as he felt the hot lips brush over his skin and softly move toward his own lips, before he was finally kissed. But it was short. So unbelievably short that the mans mouth remained a bit open, lips pouted as he saw the man stare at the ceiling. He got the clue and Isaac certainly looked a lot better than before. But then his stubbornness kicked in, his 'good' side as he glanced at the still pale skin and other obvious clues of sickness. They could go further...but not that much further. Rei turned, leaning in and kissing the man on the mouth, soft and almost questioning the action as his hands slowly raked through the black headed scalp. |

Well, Isaac had an excuse for that too, just because the person was around interesting things and interesting people, it didn't make them right off the bat interesting. But still, Rei Pearce was still intriguing in all sorts of ways. Although Isaac did manage to keep his smirk at bay when he saw the conductor's expression. A pout and outright disappointment. This was probably going to be the way it was going to be, after all, Isaac wouldn't have to worry about setting boundaries for anything if Rei was the one that set them. It was like killing two birds with one stone. And when Rei did finally lean in to kiss him again. Isaac felt so mentally victorious. As the other's hands nestled gently in his hair, he dragged his own hands with agonizing slowness down Rei's spine until they came to a stop at his hips, sucking gently on his mouth, wanton and wanting. He just needed proof that Rei wanted it enough to initiate it. The onesided phone-sex fiasco was never going to happen again. Actually, they also needed to talk about the said fiasco, but now was not the place nor the time. Right now was better reserved for trying to coax Rei between his legs. |

The hand dragged his spine, so unbelievably slow that Rei moaned into the kiss, arching his back into the talented hands that finally stopped at his hips. Their kiss was much needier than before, but that may have been because of the interruption. The lovely little bonding they had been doing before previous, where they were ready to just bask in each others company before it was paused. It might have also been something about the little phone sex incident but it was best not to think about that. All Rei really wanted to think about right now was how Isaac sucked at his lip and made him want all over again. Their were definite boundaries for Rei at the moment, caused by a large variety of things he couldn't quite reveal to the man yet. Like how Julia was still plaguing his mind. And the little fact that Isaac was sick and not read to engage in anything too severe, no matter how much he wanted to. So Rei pulled away, not because he wanted to, but because he remembered a certain feverish male. During their kiss he had moved to once again be partially seated on the mans lap, finding it amusing how it seemed to be such a familiar position for them to be in. "...You're sick," Rei merely reasoned before letting his forehead rest against the mans shoulder. There was nothing else to say. |

And that was the boundary? Isaac mentally seethed, almost. Well, there was one good thing, at least Rei hadn't scrambled off his bed and run screaming for the hills. In fact, he seemed quite content to sit and snuggle. But Isaac didn't just want to snuggle. Besides, it wasn't like he was that sick. And he told himself, sounding just a tad annoyed, "It's not like I'm that sick, I know how much I can take." But he made no move to kiss him again and instead, focused his attentions on the ceiling. "So making out is a no." Which obviously meant sex was a no, but it was so glaringly obvious that Isaac didn't feel the need to bring it up. "So what now?" It was a legitimate question, really. After all, no sex and no making out killed a lot of options. Neither of them were very good at talking, which was why they both avoided talking like the plague. Or maybe Isaac was sick and that was what saved him. "Do you want a shower or something? I'll lend you some clothes?" Okay, that was not an excuse to get Rei naked...actually, yes it was, but Isaac had a feeling that it'd be a long time before they got to the--'shower together' stage, so he wasn't going to press his luck. That would have just been stupid. |

It wasn't surprising that Isaac was less then pleased at the statement. "If you know how much you can take, you wouldn't be sick," Rei lectured, noticing how the man had once again resumed himself to watching the ceiling. As if he was sulking. "...Isaac, don't tell me you asked me to stay over just because you want to make out," Rei spoke, a warning in his voice as he slowly lifted up his head and wondered what had changed since they exited and reentered the room. Everything seemed to be the same, but strangely enough, it was different. As if the magic was gone. Rei, while not minding a shower, had already taken one today and was beginning to realize that he hadn't been in a relationship for a very long time. Much longer than he imagined, as it become obviously clear that he wasn't ready to do a lot of things. "No," I'm good..." he spoke before pausing and kissing the man on the mouth. "I'm just worried you'll get a fever. You almost fell off your chair," he reminded, biting his lip as he wondered if staying over was even a good idea to begin with. |

"Hey, this time can't be counted," Isaac protested, "I was overdue to get sick anyway," and besides, Bradley had been in town, that was plenty of reason. Of course, a reason that Isaac would keep to himself until he was asked...if he was asked, he'd come up with a shiny lie because he didn't like to have everything caused by Bradley. That did not seem fair. The hell. "I don't want to make out, I just...mm." He faded away momentarily when Rei kissed him, he kissed back, but was smart (or perhaps stupid) enough not to leave it there and not pursue it further. "I dunno, it was just something to do. We don't have to, and you don't have to sound so defensive about it." But if it was really something just to do, and Rei was worried about not making out with him because Rei was worried about him, then...maybe Isaac could live with that. "I asked you to stay over because I just wanted you to stay over, my motives are good and pure. I wasn't going to try anything..." And that...was actually closer to the truth than it had been. It was a bit weird like that. "Why'd you really say yes?" |

Rei didn't meant to sound defensive. He was just tired. It was like a fight was about to spring forth and he just wanted to avoid that at the moment. So instead of the face to face matching of verbs, he rested his cheek against the mans shoulder and merely closed his eyes, as his arms loosely wrapped around the man. Isaac was so warm. "Because when you slept at my place for those few hours," he began, speaking softly as he decided not to answer a single comment except the last one, "I didn't have any nightmares for the first time in a long time." It was a selfish reason. It was also so personal that Rei immediately felt like he needed to cover it up with something else. "...And I know your motives are good and pure. It's just slowly hitting me the amount of work I need to do tomorrow." Make calls. Pick out pieces. Decline invitations. Debate invitations. Pretend Julia never wrote a bloody letter. Pretend that he wasn't at fault for what happened to her. Shit. His hands sneaked behind the mans shirt, feeling the warm skin against his cold hands. "It's not fair that you're so warm. Winter isn't easy for us cold skinned folk." There. A change in topic. |

So at the end of the day, Isaac's health had nothing to do with it. But then, that hadn't really been what he'd meant. After thinking it over though, Isaac was suddenly afraid to hear the answer, mostly because...well, it wasn't that he really liked Rei, it was just...he bit his lip. How was he even going to explain that? He didn't have to, the conversation thankfully moved on. He reached for the blanket from before and draped it around Rei. Thirty was a bit too old to be having nightmares, but Isaac kept that thought to himself too. He only said, "Well, I'm glad I'm good for something." And hearing Rei talk about how much work he had to do for tomorrow, Isaac laughed again, "I swear, me imploring you not to work too hard falls on deaf ears, doesn't it? Just relax for tonight and work tomorrow. If you're relaxing thinking about work, and work thinking about relaxing you're never going to get anywhere." Isaac just raised an eyebrow, "And again, it makes me wonder why you chose New York and stayed here, it's not good for cold. Why not LA, even? It's like a warm New York City..." Feeling the cold hand at his back almost made him jump, and Isaac reached around for his hand and held it between both of his and rubbed it, "Putting your hand somewhere warm never works...at least like this some of the heat will keep." |

"You're good for a lot of things," Rei replied without even thinking about it. He didn't want to, as his work habits were brought up again. "I don't work too hard. I work the amount I'm supposed to." That just depended on the perspective on how hard one needed to work. He happened to have extremely high standards that dealt with getting his mind off of less pleasant topics, that morphed into an obsessive compulsive thing, where he needed to work a certain amount of hours and expend a certain amount of energy and results in order to feel as if he'd done anything at all. Not the healthiest thing, but it got him where he was now. A successful ball of stress. "You make that sound so easy. I have stacks of letters just waiting to be read, organized and replied to, all dealing with finances, time and management of the phil that...ugh...I'm getting a headache," he mumbled the last bit as he felt the blanket wrap around him. He finally opened his eyes as he wondered why he stayed in New York. "Because no matter how cold I may be, I love the Autumn and Winter. Only New York can give me everything I love." And he always imagined LA to be a city full of pompous individuals who were full of themselves. Where everyone was like Nick. He frowned at the thought. One of him was enough. His hand was removed, his mouth opening to argue until he felt it heat up with the two hands. "But I can't hug you this way." |

"Then you have too much work to do, cut back on a bit of it, get a personal assistant, a bit less work won't kill you. Your back would probably thank you." He rubbed his hands for a little while longer and moved to lie down on the mattress. "Now you can hug me all you want. But if you're really worried that you're not going to have enough hours in a day, we can get some sleep now...I mean, I usually practice, but you probably won't let me." The answer made him want to laugh, just a little. "You have a habit of liking things that aren't necessarily good for you. It's not just me. You don't have to stay here, you know, there are other places that are warmer and have between autumn foliage and winter snow." But he had to remember that Rei had never been anywhere else. "I make a lot of things sound easy because they are," Isaac stretched and propped himself up on one elbow, "You're the one that makes them difficult." (And in New York, Nick York was like any other critic, LA certainly wasn't any worse. Isaac would know, he'd been there. But then again, there was a reason why he'd never hung around critics too much). |

"Get a personal assistant?" Rei sounded mildly horrified. "Get someone who has no clue about the individual strengths and weaknesses of the phil, allowing them to blindly look at pieces that just sound 'good'? I'd have to organize what they could do, how to do it, who to talk to..." He was talking himself into another headache, frowning at the thought. "No. I'll get it done faster if I do it myself." Isaac moved, leaving room for him to cuddle just like he promised, which Rei moved to do before nodding at the mans assumption. "And off course I'm not going to let you practice." Best not talk about the idea of moving. Because that made him think of going to France, which made him think of other things he didn't really want to at the moment. "How do I make things difficult?" Or maybe that wasn't the best switch of topics. He held up his hand, slightly warmer now and pressed it against the mans forehead, noting that even if it was certainly cooler, it was still quite warm. "You shouldn't be worrying about me anyway." |

"See, that was actually a good idea before you just randomly twisted it and made it into a bad one." Isaac clicked his tongue. "And it's not like you don't know people, and I know people. Between the two of us, I'm sure we'll find someone appropriate. I didn't say you'd just hire any old assistant you know. I'd expect you to be a little Donald Trump about it, at least." "You make things difficult because you refuse to trust other people, as I've just demonstrated, and also, you overestimate yourself." Yes, Isaac was a bit contradictory, considering what had just happened at the concert previously. But he'd only done that because he answered to Pearce as an employee. Pearce didn't answer to anyone and he didn't take enough days off. He was running a bit of a fever again, maybe. Isaac sighed, "...but there's nothing wrong with that, really. It's just very...you." But nowhere in the book did it say that Isaac was not allowed to kiss his boyfriend good night, even if making out was off the table. Isaac kissed him and grinned, gathering Rei into his arms. "Of course I worry about you. You won't worry about yourself. I worry about me too, there's enough worry cells to go around. Night." |

"You're not listening. I just told you why it wasn't a good idea," Rei corrected, though he knew himself better then to ever get an assistant. "I won't be able to. I'll worry if they picked the right things or said everything correctly." Or worse. What if they forgot to do something? "I'll be stressed if my assistant is doing the job right. It could be my twin and I would still double check everything." Unfortunately, Isaac had a point when it came to trusting people. "I'm learning how to truth people. I'm here, aren't I?" He paused though, before raising a brow. "But I'm wondrous with marvelous work ethic, remember? I'm not overestimating myself in the slightest." He'd already figured out the minimum hours of sleep he needed in a row in Julliard. Lips kissed him softly, as strong arms brought him closer and held him close. Not so that he couldn't get away but they certainly kept them together. "I worry about myself..." He paused as he remembered the opening night of their concert. "Usually." Maybe it wasn't so bad to have someone worry about him. "Good night." His own arms lazily hugged back as his lashes fell and he slowly drifted off. |
