Isaac kissed him back, somewhat hesitantly, but he was glad that Rei had taken it upon himself to initiate yet another kiss. "You ruin everything, here I was trying to be a prince...but, I guess if we get our excuse it isn't bad. One man's pain is another man's pleasure...or however that saying goes. I'm not too good at quotes. My hormones turned out be good for something." Also for one-sided phone sex, but thinking about that was still a bit humiliating, so he wasn't. "Before you get too fond of talking about yourself in third person..." Isaac trailed off, "You're not that old, I mean, I'm less than half a decade away from thirty." Seemed that he wasn't about to get an answer after all, but hey, it was worth a try, and every non-answer told him something. He chewed the final slice of orange as Rei admonished him about not bringing up a Broadway blond and ruining the mood. Isaac was about to press more on that subject, except he'd probably ruin the mood. So he wasn't completely out of hot water yet, was he? Isaac had to stop and think about the final question. One of his hands slipped behind Rei and pressed into the man's back. The guy needed every sort of relaxation he could get, probably. "I can tell a lot from one single A, you know. If you called yourself a musician, so could you. It's got nothing to do with me not liking you being my boss. But...do you actually like it? Conducting?" |

"What are you talking about? Rei does not speak in third person," Rei corrected, a small smile on his lips as he remembered the few years they were apart. "I know I'm not old, I just feel that way sometimes. Must be the back." The hand that was crossed tenderly moved, wrapping around him and into that built up stress zone known as his back. It was a smart move, moving from the blond, which was smartly passed over, to his back, a known weakness that Isaac seemed to enjoy. "...I don't mind conducting," Rei admitted, closing his eyes as he tried to envision the feeling. That fear swept over him once more. "It's getting harder recently but its not bad." He preferred playing. He really only conducted because when he turned around, he got to see the applause and faces first hand. Not that he really understood why he deserved the applause, but still. "You sound eager for me to quit and play instead. Trying to have a harder job finding work?" |

"I'll say, you have back problems of an eighty year old," Isaac pressed his fingers in, kneading out the sore muscles. Sad thing was, he was actually kind of used to giving him massages now. Which may or may not be a good thing, he didn't know. "Got you." Isaac almost smirked, as Rei all but admitted that while he didn't mind conducting, he'd really rather be doing something else instead. Yeah, Isaac tacked on the second part, but really, he was not an idiot. "Why would you spend the rest of your life doing something that you don't mind doing, as opposed to doing something you obviously love doing, more?" (Pardon the innuendo, for once Isaac didn't mean it.) But Isaac laughed and rolled his eyes, "I still get offers from the Metropolitan Orchestra and the New York Chamber Players. As far as I'm concerned, I'm hot commodity, even if you let me go, I'll find something, somewhere. Have a bit more faith in me, yeah?" And then he paused, and just rubbed his back for a while, that seemed safer, there were plenty of knots to keep him busy. A bit of time passed before Isaac ventured to speak again. "Besides, there are a lot of people out there who want to play but can't. You told me that. It doesn't seem fair to them that you don't." |

"I wish I didn't," Rei spoke, arching his back into the fingers. Typical Isaac, taking care and spoiling him even when he was sick. It made him smile, feeling the warmth crawling in as he closed his eyes for a moment. 'Got you.' He opened his eyes at that, tilting his head to the side as he realized that the topic was not yet over. "Because sometimes you have to do things you don't mind doing because of promises. I shouldn't even be conducting but I'm breaking the rules just a little bit. Allow me that small selfishness," he spoke softly, even though he got quiet. He knew Isaac got offers. He constantly got emails, phone calls, or letters asking to have the concertmaster. What he wondered was why in the world Isaac had stayed for so long. But he didn't ask. He didn't want to know the answer. The silence seemed comfortable but that was because Isaac never stopped his ministration. It made Rei a bit sad, wondering why in the world he didn't play. "Circumstances exist in every case Isaac. It's best not to dwell on things." He didn't speak right away, bringing down a hand as he slowly played with the mans hair. "How are your fingers healing up?" |

"You should know better than to talk to me about ethics, Rei. You know I don't believe in them." Isaac tilted his head to look up at his conductor, "I don't even believe in making promises all that much, at the end of the day, it only serves to make people less guilty, it turns everything into an obligation, and it's stupid. But don't mind me, you already know I'm shallow, and it's none of my business." But he paused a moment and listened, he was mostly giving him a backrub because it gave him something to do and maybe Rei would let his guard down, and it did, just a little. He made a promise to someone that he couldn't play. Now that...that was ridiculous. "That person, whoever it is, is a selfish arse. You're not the one that's selfish. But don't ask me to explain it to you because I know you're not going to be happy with the answer I have to give, so let's move on." Isaac's eyes momentarily closed when Rei threaded his hair, "Random note, I like it when you do that with my hair and...my fingers? They're able enough to give you a massage, aren't they?" To prove his point, he pressed into a tangle, "Besides, I'm sick now, it's not going to do me a fat lot of good if I practice...my fingers are all right." |

"Then you should begin to learn some ethics," Rei pointed out, though he remained quiet on the promise bit. It was best not to dwell there, why ruin something so early after all. Laughter couldn't help but escape him though, when the man unknowingly called Julia selfish. If only he knew. "Perhaps. It's all about perspective," he replied before nodding, agreeing to move on as his hands continued to play with the mans hair. He curled it here and there before straightening it out on his fingers, just letting them get tangled in the strands. "Then I'll do it more often," he spoke, used to playing with hair as Alice often demanded it upon him, convinced Sam to do so, and had Rei multitasking with a hand per head. "You don't want them to scar," he warned, though he knew well enough that they were proof of a good player. He himself, had his own on both index fingers. "You better not be practicing when sick. I was terrified you were going to fall over when it was time to bow." |

"You mean, I should learn your type of ethics." Isaac grinned up at him, "Which is to say, no thanks, I prefer every man for himself. Thinking for other people is kind of a pain." (He was sort of kind of good at the very thing he hoped not to be, but still.) "If that's the way you like it, then you have a very kind perspective, probably why I like you." Although...Rei Pearce probably went out of his way to convince everyone that he was actually otherwise. Kind of weird, but hey, Isaac could live with it, sort of. "Mm, yeah, you should..." Isaac trailed off, just enjoying the fingers in his hair for the moment, as he removed his other hand from Rei's back, as far as he knew, he had rubbed the man down enough and his arm was getting slightly sore. Besides, he was the sick one, he was supposed to get pampered. "I'm in the clear, I haven't touched my violin since I got home, all I've done is sleep, and then complain to you. Sounds like my type of an afternoon, if you ask me. And I only collapsed afterwards, like I said I would." Using the word 'promise' would be a little more than hypocritical. "Still trying to get used to the fact that you worry about me." Upon examination of his hands, Isaac shrugged, "They've already scarred, I've been playing ever since I was four, I don't mind. Musicians are destined to have knobbly looking fingers, anyway." |

"I'm sure it took you a long time to figure that out, considering you came up with the idea that I have a baton shoved up my ass," Rei reminded, raising an eyebrow as he avoided the reason why the man liked him. It certainly did make the butterflies flutter slightly but it was best not to think about that not. He was here to look after the violinist and make sure he rested. Nothing else. Rei took the hint well, bringing up his other hand and slowly ruffling the hairs and being gentle at the strands before tangling all ten digits in them and massaging slightly, careful not to pull the hair painfully. Isaac didn't need a headache on top of being sick. The afternoon didn't sound so bad once it was verbalized in such a way though. It actually sounded pretty pleasant now that he thought about it."I can stop worrying about you if it bothers you so much," he teased as he gave a soft tug to the black strands tangled in his fingertips. "Just leave you on your lonesome and make you peel oranges all by yourself." Which would be a bit heartless. Though he was wondering when Matthias would be coming back, he certainly hoped it would be an awfully long line. "You don't have knobbly looking fingers," he spoke, rolling his eyes as he took his hands out of the mans hair to pick up a limp hand and examined it. "It's healing...but the concerts certainly aren't helping. You need to treasure and take care of your fingers, they're your most important limb if you're to be a musician. Don't treat cuts lightly," he lectured as he ran his own calloused finger tips over Isaac's. |

"Okay, before you get sore about that for the millionth time, I told you it was a joke, I said it, and Patricia patented it, okay?" Isaac half grinned at him, "The beauty of my jokes is that the wrong people always finds them funny. The right people never do." But...that aside, Rei was loosening up nicely. "...Feels good," Isaac mumbled as the fingers worked against his scalp, he did not have a headache, but it felt nice anyway. This Sunday afternoon really was turning out to be a bundle of surprises. Rei Pearce turning out to take care of him, snuggle with him and peel him oranges. Isaac could get used to this. "Never said I didn't like it, I just said it took some time getting used to." Isaac opened his eyes again to examined their intertwined fingers. "And now you're sounding old. Don't you think I know? Three four years doesn't put you that much ahead of me." But just in case Rei thought he sounded too unappreciative, Isaac moved to bring the tangle of fingers closer so that he could brush his lips against Rei's fingers. "But thank you. That does make me feel warm and fuzzy." His phone buzzed, and Isaac reached for it on the next pillow, "Yallow." "I hate you, but I should be home in forty minutes, how are you holding up?" Came Matthias' voice, rather muffled. "I'm..." Isaac turned his gaze to Rei and smirked, "Holding up wonderfully." |

"My baton and I did not appreciate your little joke," he spoke rather stiffly before smiling, trying to show that he understood that Isaac didn't quite mean it. At least, he didn't mean it anymore. Things had certainly changed from the time the nickname was created for him after all. It was comforting as his fingers were taken and the lips softly kissed his, interlocking the fingers as he lazily just held the others hand. "You just make me sound younger," he groaned, his back arching slightly as he slouched, a rare sight and thing for his back to do. "This entire afternoon feels warm and fuzzy." Which was true. Rei had fed the man an orange, massaged his scalp a little bit, and let Isaac use his lap as a pillow. Not to mention they were holding hands and being rather calm about everything. It was strange, certainly strange for them. But it was a strange that Rei didn't mind, and was pretty sure that he could get used to. He paused saying something as the phone rang and Isaac answered it, taking his free hand to play with the mans hair again before he raised an eyebrow at the smirk. "...Who...is...that...?" He mouthed slowly, wondering just why the man had such a grin on his face. |

"Anyway...take your time, keep my food warm, see you at home." Isaac closed his phone and tossed it on the pillow again. Looking immensely satisfied with himself for a moment, he turned back to the other man. "It's Matthias with my food, he's got it and he's going to have to start braving the drive back, it's going to take a while. No worries." He raised an eyebrow, amused, "I never thought you'd be the one to let slip fuzzy. Hanging with me is good age therapy...I think, don't take my word for it." But hearing Rei say 'fuzzy' certainly was the cherry on top to a very strange day. Finally, he raised himself up, Rei had a comfortable lap, but he was starting to get a crook on his neck, and he didn't know if lying here and talking was doing any good, but he was feeling significantly less woozy, that was always good. Given their short history together though, Isaac was proud of himself, he hadn't jumped Rei at all today. One of them could be responsible. Running a hand through his hair, Isaac thought for a moment, "So...I might be pushing my luck, but...while we've still have the place to ourselves, d'you think I can have another souvenir?" He put on his best pleading look. |

Rei nodded, wondering just what went through the mans mind. Sending out his best friend and inviting his boyfriend over for mindless snuggling really. It was definitely good age therapy. "I'll take the age therapy theory, it certainly makes some form of sense," he spoke, before he eyed the man who got out of his lap. While it was comfortable, it was probably going to be sore on the neck if he stayed so long, so Rei didn't argue or take it personally. He was however, a bit surprised at the request. "...Are you suggesting I go get another orange?" He asked, before raising a hand and pulling at the collar, noting how the previous hickey was still there. "And what happened to resting?" But he couldn't really deny it. They were alone for a bit and that was certainly a rare thing. To be in a private place where they would unlikely be disturbed. Even his office wasn't full proof. "But what do you have in mind?" He asked, raising a brow as he leaned over and brushed a stray strand out of his face. |

There was something very horny teenage-boyish about this whole situation. Except neither Isaac nor Rei were teenage boys and neither of them, as far as Isaac could tell, anyway, were horny. Shame. They were wasting an empty apartment. That didn't quite seem right. At the offer for another orange, Isaac laughed outright. "Sure, I'll take another orange, while this empty apartment wastes itself away in forty minutes, real smooth." Isaac kept still as Rei examined the mark on his skin, obviously, it was still there, he didn't try too hard to get rid of it or anything. "I'm totally resting. I know anything of the sexual nature isn't particularly restful but if you're doing all the work and I just lie there, it's not so bad." Besides, his conductor did kind of sort of owe him when he just randomly molested him without any good reason a few days ago. Isaac idly rubbed the back of his neck, more or less, he'd been victim enough to those to know how to relieve himself in a couple of minutes. Always useful. He sat back against the headboard and then nuzzled against the older man's shoulder. "And I really hate what the word 'resting' implies, you're like sitting there and not doing anything. Counterproductive. I mean, I don't mean you you, but you know." |

(Phone post part two!!) Rei shrugged knowing that truthfully he could do no better than the simple offer the moment. They weren't that young any more that the sheer idea of being alone would inspire a series of perverted thoughts all geared toward getting naked and sweaty."As if I would let a giant bag of oranges go to waste." So why leave any empty apartment to themselves go to waste? But he wanted to laugh as the man continued speaking. "So you want me to do all the work?" It was a teasing remark but he was beginning to get curious as to what this 'work' was. His words faltered as the headf nuzzled his shoulder. He was like a child during these moments, even if he was more capable of taking care of someone. Which wasn't even a fair comparison as Rei had very simple needs when he was sick. "But if you have such a problem just sitting back, join in." It was strange how their light discussion made the contact that much more personal, the room temperature rising by a few degrees. "It's just difficult to take advantage of someone who looks like a puppy who wants a hug." He grinned as he spoke, even though it wasd hard to see as he rested hishead against the mans. |

"Hey, I'm not saying you have to, but what I'm saying is that the oranges are going to be there still after forty minutes, the empty apartment won't and I have my priorities straight." Okay, maybe this was beginning to get less awkward, which was always good. He wouldn't pause to think on it too much, too much thinking always ruined a good thing. "I do not look like a puppy that needs a hug." Or maybe he did, but Isaac had always been sort of a cat person and failed to see the resemblance. His arms curled lightly around Rei and more or less stayed there, they gave the other man enough room to escape from him if he felt the need to, but the narcissist in Isaac wondered why he would need to. "Nah, I'm all right...you're the one that likes to work until he passes out, so I might as well take advantage of that." "Cause, you know, I'm a lazy bastard as they come. But in the interest of helping my own case, here." Tilting his head just slightly and kissing Rei, the man tasted of sharp tang from the oranges, and even though the rest of him was freezing cold, his mouth was a warm heat. Rei's problems while he was sick may have rubbed off on Isaac a little...not really, but it was a good excuse. |
