"Well...maybe." Matthias said, "You should be impressed with me after this mess is over." He was about to hang up when the warning came over the phone. Never mention Julia to Isaac, if he even had a shred of respect for Rei Pearce. But that warning alone told him plenty. Must have been the second coming in the worst way, "You have my word there, but not anything else. Have a good rest of the day, York."

He hung up then, "Why did he feel like he just shook hands with the devil? Speaking of Isaac, Matthias hauled himself off the bed. "Isaac? You feeling okay?"

Meanwhile, Isaac woke, feeling extremely sluggish, but better. The best thing he could do right now, was go back to sleep for a week or two, but curiosity killed cat and he fished around on the top of his dresser for his phone.

Zero missed calls. Way to play a caring boyfriend, Rei.

Another few tries had him propped up against a couple of pillows, and he laid the phone down beside him as it rang.

Never in his life had Rei stared at someone so evilly, so heartlessly, demanding it to give him answers. The phone however, was a strong opponent and merely continued sitting still in his hands.

Now, Rei was caught in a bit of a predicament. He hadn't been in a relationship for years and had never exactly been 'boyfriend' material. He had his logic, which told him that Isaac needed sleep and shouldn't be disturbed considering the condition he was in. He also had a strange new voice telling him to call.

Which made no sense. If Rei wanted Isaac to feel better, it was best to not call and make sure the rest wasn't interrupted. Yet he wanted to call anyway, curiosity wanting to know what Isaac wanted to talk about. Yes, that was why he wanted to call.

Not because he was worried and just maybe sort of wanted to hear the mans voice.

The arguments kept rolling in his mind, as he sat on his bed cross legged, continuing to glare at the phone and demand to know if it was right to call.

The phone finally sprang to life to inform him that yes, he should have called, the name Isaac Langley popping up on his screen, as the object vibrated violently in his hand.

But Rei was not expected it to actually respond, yelping as he dropped the item and squarely fell back too suddenly, his head crashing against his wall.

He swore a bit more, rubbing his head before finally picking up the item, turning it on and pressing speakerphone.

"...Hey. How you feeling?" He spoke, covering his face slightly to hide the embarrassment no one could see. Damn it, Isaac always made him feel so weird.

It picked up a couple of rings later, and Isaac thought Rei sounded a bit disjointed, but then again, it might be because Isaac himself wasn't completely there either. He traced the screen with his finger and sighed, "Firstly, I feel the need to bring this up because when you were dying sick I took care of you. I don't even get one lousy phone call." He only half meant it, but yeah, it was nice to know this whole relationship wasn't one-sided. And at least he didn't throw in that lousy boyfriend line.

That wouldn't have been helpful under any event.

"Secondly...I'm a little sluggish but better."

Yes, the both of them in a state like this was a bit strange, Isaac knew that, but if anything, it was good healing for the both of them, whatever they each respectively needed to heal from.

Couple of tries later, he was sitting up, but it was too much of a hassle, so he laid back and stared up at the ceiling again.

"What are you doing right now, anyway?"

Rei felt the guilt climb up into his throat then and there. So he should have called. It didn't help that he clearly remembered how the man did take care of him when he was sick or the fact that Isaac was most likely sick because of Rei.

"I'm sorry", he managed to squeeze out, the guilt plaguing his voice as he continued to stare down to the phone that counted how long they talked for.

He didn't know what to say wishing that the phone would have given him the answer sooner. But soon the topic was changed to what he was doing and he spoke without thinking it through.

"I've been staring at my phone for the past hour trying to decide if I shouldn't call u in order to make sure you get some sleep... or call you because I'm worried."

It hit him moments later how strange the confession was, biting his lips as he ruffled his hair.

"But do you have enough medicine? Make sure you're drinking liquids," he rambled, wishing he could come over but knowing that Matthias was already there to take care of him.

(Phone posting sucks. Apologies for typos.)

[[ lol you're brave, I never attempt phone posting...]]

"I'm messing with you, you probably have better things to do than check up on me." Probably more true than Isaac would like to admit...ever.

Isaac did not expect Rei to sound so...guilty. It was a little strange, actually, the emotion on his voice. While the confession by no means excused him for being a lousy boyfriend, it was nice to know that Isaac was what Rei thought about for an hour or so. "While that doesn't excuse you, it's nice to know you've been thinking about me."

And then Isaac had to pause again, "Tell you the truth, I like the second reason better, the first reason sounds like you're my babysitter or something." But hey, as long as the two choices both revolved around Isaac, he had no complaints. Talk about being an ego-maniac.

"I just got up...so I haven't drank anything yet, although I did drink a cup of honey before I knocked myself out..." He got up and walked towards the door and found Matthias on the other side.

"Isaac, are you--"

"I'm on the phone." Isaac said curtly as he made his way woozily into the kitchen, "Sorry, Matthias was nagging...being sick really sucks. I haven't kept cold meds around in the house since ever...picked some up this morning, though."

((I be not brave, I be inspired.))

"I don't," Rei spoke quite honestly as he leaned against the wall, stretching out his legs that were cramping from being crossed for so long. "Like I said, I've been debating whether to call you for an hour."

This did however finally give the conductor the little answer that if the issue was to call or not to call, it was always best to call. "...But what if you were sleeping?"

"...Fine, I'll know to call next time," he finally admitted, smiling at the thought of how Isaac really didn't sound too bothered by it, as if he was happy just to know that Rei's thoughts were currently circulating around him. It was even more interesting how his ramblings were taken quite seriously and answered as such.

"I'm sure Derringer is just worried," Rei spoke, shaking his head at the comment. "Off course it sucks. If you run out give me a call and I'll bring some over."

The idea of coming over hit him again. Derringer would be no means approve of his stay, so he wasn't going to bring up coming over to take care of the other. There were fundamental differences in their situations, as Rei lived alone and Isaac had a roommate.

Still...if he was asked, he would probably come. "You'll get better soon."

[[Inspiration is <33]]

It was nice to know that he sort of kind of made Rei's to-do list for the day. He almost felt warm again. It was a bit senseless, really.

"Then you'd wake me up...wouldn't be a bad reason to wake up, actually. And besides, it's not like talking to you is rocket science or anything." So saying, Isaac reached for a mug and filled it with water, put it in the microwave for thirty seconds, Matthias stood, observant, by no means pleased.

The idea of Rei Pearce coming over to semi-take care of him, though, that idea didn't sound bad at all. Not that Isaac would ever admit to having needed TLC under any circumstances, but still.

The microwave beeped, and Isaac took his mug out of the microwave, went back to his room and closed the door. "I know, I know he is. But...as much as I'm tempted to lie and say he ran out of pills, it was probably counterproductive. Besides, Matthias can run and get them for me."

Their relationship seemed riddled with counterproductivities. "As much as I'd like to have you come over...I'd probably infect you, again, so maybe not. I'm actually better at worrying about you than you are about worrying...which is a good thing, I guess, considering that I'm much careful than you are."

"But if you want, I'll send Matthias on a wild goose chase and you can come over and stay ten feet away from me at all times? How does that sound?" Mostly kidding.

Now that was a heart warming thing to say. "I don't get sick that easily," Rei spoke, even though he knew many people wouldn't agree. "Besides, I was just sick and infected you, I doubt you can infect me right back." In fact, he was probably still a little sick which meant that it really wasn't likely he could catch the cold again.

"I am careful," he shot back, frowning at the words. "And I'm allowed to worry about you." He was pretty good at taking care of people...he just didn't really know how to be taken care of, which was were most of the problems came from.

"....How in the world are you going to get some rest if I come over?"

The words left Rei's mouth before he really thought about their meaning. "I-I mean...never mind. I'll come over if you can send Matthias away and promise me you're going to get some rest."

There, that overall fixed that little mess. "Have you eaten anything?"

"That's true..." Isaac took a sip of scalding hot water and winced. "I didn't say you weren't allowed to worry about me, I'm just saying you're not that good at it, you need practice." A moment later, he found himself staring at the ceiling.

How was he going to get any rest...? "I'm not like you, you know. And with the ten feet rule, I doubt you can distract me that much." After all, Isaac wasn't the one that got horny when he got sick. Good thing too.

"And...no, I haven't eaten anything, I was going to send Matthais out for food and make him wait in line for a while somewhere. I went straight to sleep, you know..." For whatever reason, he almost felt giddy that someone--Rei Pearce, was coming by to take care of him. Isaac didn't like to be cared for, but maybe he'd do with an excuse.

"So...I guess I'll see you in a bit?"

He stepped out of the room and covered the phone with his hand, "Hey, Matthias, do you think you can get me something from Giovanni's?"

Matthias looked skeptical, "...Giovanni's?" Only the most expensive Italian restaurant downtown.

Isaac seemed to read him so well and that on its own made Rei shuffle around on his spot on the bed. "I'm only used to worrying about people who are about half my size and still in elementary," he admitted.

Yet the few nights ago when he was sick seemed to flood back to him magically with the effect of the ten feet rule. "Funny, no need to bring up how other people act when sick." As if he really needed that sort of reminder. Rei would sell his soul to forget what he did whenever sick. But no, he was even blessed with the memory of those 'lovely' moments.

It only hit Rei then that Isaac was suggesting he come over now, which made Rei quickly stand up and begin to shed his clothing. He changed into a pair of jeans, white undershirt and grey sweater, where the collar was far too wide and constantly slid off his shoulder.

"Are you sending him out now?" He asked, picking up the phone again to hear a muted conversation.

Rei would get his answer in minutes.

"Traffic's terrible at this point...I might be a while." Matthias said as he tugged on his shoes, "And you better not throw up Giovanni's because I'll do something drastic...like kill you. Where are the keys?"

"Not going to throw up Giovanni's, I swear," Isaac tossed him the keys, "And yeah, I know, I'll see you in a bit. Thanks."

When Matthias was safely out the door, Isaac locked the door behind him and put the phone to his ear again, "Sorry about that, I just sent him downtown to one of the most lucrative restaurants in the city, he won't be back in a while, the line is totally insane. But that's a shame, you should put your talents to use elsewhere, playing babysitter all the time doesn't suit you."

He was having a hard enough time wrapping his mind around the fact that Rei was better around kids than he was. "And no one said anything, the ten foot rule was for your own safety...and just in case you didn't stalk me for a hobby, I live at 103 Parkinson and Augustine...see you in a bit?"

The voice returned just like Rei anticipated it would. "I'll just have to learn how to worry and take care of bigger people who belong in elementary," he teased, a light smile on his lips as he searched his apartment for various cold and flu medicine.

"How is the ten foot rule for my own safety? I won't get sick," he grabbed his keys, phone and medicine, shoving them in his pocket before heading to the kitchen and picking up the packet of oranges, held in the red net bag with a nod.

"I'm afraid I don't stalk you. I'll see you soon," he spoke, hanging up before heading downstairs and glancing at security.

"I need a cab," Rei spoke, scratching as his messy bed head.

"What's the occasion?" The man spoke, raising a brow at the mans appearance. He'd never seen him look so relaxed and homey before.

"Babysitting."

"Ow," Touche. "I'm sick and delirious, no idea what I'm doing and you shouldn't listen to me."

"I'll punch you when you do get here, see you." He half meant it, maybe. But that didn't change the fact that Isaac was feeling ridiculously, ridiculously happy when he hung up. (Yes, he might be feeling a tad bit too happy, but he'd ignore that fact for now.)

And as much as he liked Rei, it was better that his conductor didn't stalk him. That'd be creepy.

As it were, he'd probably had to start acting like a dying sick pathetic person. not the role he usually took, but still. He rang the security desk downstairs, "In a few minutes, I'm going to be having a visitor, let him up."

And because Mr. Langley never just had one visitor, that was a little suspect, but the guard said, "...Will do, Mr. Langley."

Though Rei wasn't looking forward to this punch he would be receiving, the cab arrived a few minutes after it had been ordered. He got inside, repeating the address before the driver nodded and drove off, leaving the conductor to his thoughts.

Never did he think he would come over to take care of someone. Well, take care of someone who wasn't family. He'd gone over to take over family plenty of times, and they did the same for him. The idea to do that with...

It hit Rei, in the middle of the taxi cab that this could definitely be counted as dating. Which somewhat explained why Isaac had been disappointed to not receive a phone call after giving him numerous massages and taking him home. That and perhaps he was also wondering if Rei would just call because he was worried.

He was slow, still learning but he would try.

The trip was short, as he got out and paid the driver before walking inside the apartment and glancing nervously at the security desk. "Mr. Isaac Langley...?" He asked, a bit sheepish with his large bag of oranges.

Well, a relationship worked best if he worked on equal ground, right? Even if everything else seemed to be out of order. It seemed that the two of them had gotten off to a lousy start, though. He went back to bed and dozed for a little while until his speaker went off again. "Mr. Langley, I just sent up your visitor."

"Oh, okay, that's great." And now of all times, was the time when Isaac started feeling more than a bit awkward about being sickly. After all, aside from the concert, this was the first time that Rei would see him looking like a sick puppy, and that seemed...

...Just a tad too intimate. But they were technically in a tentative relationship now, so, why was it awkward? He'd save the problem for later. For now, Isaac wrapped a blanket around his shoulders and went to unlock the door, Larsen had left, so the apartment had gone back to its somewhat tousled state.

He opened the door, leaned against it like the ideal sick poster boy that he was, and waited. This was really...kind of ridiculous. It still made him ridiculously happy for whatever reason.
