Most of the musicians exited the stage as fast as possible the moment they saw Rei heading toward them. It was like an evacuation, no one wanting to be the individual Rei Pearce had to 'talk' aka lecture after a concert. But that lecture was safely reserved far the black haired man who fall right back into his chair and was looking paler than before.

"Your wants don't matter," Rei spoke harshly with a raised brow. "If your body decides to vomit, you are going to vomit," he spoke, looking around for something just in case.

He didn't answer the question right away, watching as the man seemed to act rather...brass with his friend. It was strange, to see them like this. They were always so close, like brothers.

"...What do you want to talk about?" He asked, looking around a bit as he noted some lingering members. "Performance wise, you did not disappoint me. Any other topics should be discussed in private," he spoke, giving a rather meaningful stare at Patricia and a few other females who seemed to perk up at the idea of the couple.

It was worth a headache. "Go home, take a nap, and call me later."

He was not a disappointment, and that made him feel ridiculously, ridiculously happy, although Isaac knew better to really express it and...then what came after...any other topic should be discussed in private. Obviously, Patricia couldn't take the hint and leave them alone. But Rei did have a point, Isaac did need a nap, and cold medicine, perhaps more badly than he'd cared to admit.

"Fair enough. I'll do that." That hardly gave anything away to prying ears. And after a couple of tries, he got up and walked towards backstage, he was rather brusque to Matthias because suddenly the man was weird all of the sudden, but Matthias seemed to be back to normal as he packed up both violins, "Why don't you go and wait in the lobby? I'll bring the car around so that you don't have to walk down there. Quicker if you wait in the lobby."

"Fine, I'll do that." Everyone got off on telling him what to do, but he was sick enough not to mind it, maybe.

The lobby was mostly empty, just some family members of some players, Isaac nodded hello to Gabrielle's boyfriend, and Patricia's aunt, and then--

"So, you didn't let me have my say last night, so I came here." A familiar British sap, Isaac winced. Bradley and his cronies. "It was a very spectacular second half, if I may, Monsieur Americain."

His temple throbbed, "You're a creep. Did you even stay awake?"

Bradley looked incredibly self-righteous as he feigned disappointment, "Only for the second half, for you...actually, are you all right? You look a little pale?"

Holding a conversation with Bradley St. Ryan in the lobby while he was feeling faint was not a good thing to do right here, "Bradley, just leave me alone, how much clearer do I have to be?"

"You said I shouldn't talk to you if I wasn't ready to apologize," Bradley said, "And I'm ready to apologize."

Rei sighed, feeling a bit warm inside that he was being listened to. No matter how much he did want to hear what Isaac wanted to say, it was best to wait. Privacy was key, to keep their relationships separated and to not give anything away...though he had a feeling Matthias knew more than he should.

Most importantly, Isaac would be getting some rest. He would be given medicine and hopefully a very long nap, until he was back to normal and actually in a state to talk.

That was all that mattered at the moment.

"See you later," he spoke, a bit amused as he watched the man take the two orders so gracefully. Usually he put up such a fight but now, why, he was probably too tired.

The conductor could accept that.

"Good job tonight," Leroy spoke, smiling at the other as he patted his shoulder. "You making no podium and pure memory your trademark or something?"

"Close," Rei spoke, pausing as he remembered his thought process. "I've never performed like I did on Friday. Sure, I was sick and barely standing, but my gut told me to just do it without anything in front of me and have no fear and it worked. I couldn't get it the first half...but I think I get it the second time."

Leroy frowned at this, a bit confused. "What changed? It wasn't Isaac...was it?"

"...Maybe. To calm up the violinists and such but..." He remembered wheelchairs and France. "Its something different. Hey, do me a favor and make sure Isaac gets in the car alright? I don't need to start any rumors," he spoke, before the brunette nodded and walked off, catching the end of a blonde's very interesting statement.

To say the least, Isaac was...sort of floored. Bradley St. Ryan and the word 'apologize' never mixed well, and the fact that he said it at all..."You want to--apologize?" He knew he sounded rather dumb, and Bradley was catching him at a weak moment. "Did Bradley the pompous ass tell me that he wants to apologize to me?"

The girl said, "He's been talking about it nonstop ever since he got here, so I think you better let him apologize, Isaac, is it?"

"Yeah..." Isaac frowned, "Okay, apologize."

"I'm sorry about that mess that I got you into with Vanessa, and I'm sorry I slept with Vanessa, I probably deserved it that you walked in and broke stuff in my apartment, can we stop doing this now? I do miss you, you know."

Bradley...sounded sincere, but then again, Bradley was an actor through and through and could treat this like a Shakespearean monologue. His phone buzzed, Matthias was outside.

"Touching, Bradley. Doesn't change the fact that I'm involved and I'm nothing like you. Would you excuse me?" Getting out of here...fast, would be good. He didn't need to be seen with them. "By the way, if you're using any shots of me as publicity shots, I'm suing you. Just a heads up."

Leroy stood silently, pretending to go about business before he watched the two depart, a smile on his face. Isaac Langley, of all people, standing firmly by Rei's side. He would have never guessed the two could hit it off. Maybe it had to do with the fact that both of them just never tried to consider the idea together and one of them finally did.

He was willing to bet that the thought bubble landed in Isaac's court.

Rei however, was sitting on the stage like he always did after concerts. Except this time, he was panicking.

He had gotten through the concert thinking and imagining a trip in France, which was never going to happen. He was day dreaming while he should have been conducting.

It was worrisome. When he conducted from memory thinking about music, it was just good. When he conducted by reflex and instinct and let his thoughts wonder, to lets say going on a lovers getaway, he topped his career and standards.

Nothing made sense. He groaned, shaking his head and wondering just what in the world the black haired man was doing to him.

"Isaac--"

"The answer is no, and that's the end of it," Isaac said, "For what it's worth, you've really gotten more blond, but I can't say I'm disappointed."

And then he left them standing there, and after a moment, Harry said, "...That was a flop, wasn't it?"

"Maybe not...New York is a nice city, I haven't gotten to go sightseeing much."

Gwen said, "Now you really are starting to sound like a bloody creep. What are you planning?"

"You'll see."

Isaac said nothing about Bradley's so called apology, or the fact that he was even there at all. He wasn't a big fan of Matthias' advice for the moment, so maybe he'd keep it to himself. And they rode home in silence. And after they got home, Isaac changed and Matthias shooed him off to bed.

"Why does everyone feel the need to mother me?" Isaac frowned at his pillow.

"Because you're Isaac and they just do." Matthias rolled his eyes, "Call if you need anything."

Matthias though, disappeared into his own bedroom and raked through his top drawer for Nicholas York's card. He was probably going to regret this, but before he could think it over clearly, he dialed the number and waited.

Now that last bit bothered Leroy a bit. This blond individual, who looked oddly enough like the one who performed on broadway last night, was going to be causing problems. As if Rei and Isaac wouldn't be creating their own problems.

But he didn't tell that to Rei when he came back. No, he just informed him that Isaac did get into the car safely and for him not to worry and close up the theatre when he was done.

Rei was left to sulk, while Leroy was left to stare at his phone and think of what to do.

Nicholas York on the other hand, was having a rather marvelous time. Sure, he'd abandoned Rei's concert but he'd already seen it. Now he was at bar, a rather posh club near 5th, where the lines were huge and it took months to get a reservation.

But he was a critic, so they quickly let him in without a word. He was surrounded by beautiful men and women, all who laughed and made obvious flirtations and grabs at one another.

Which was grand because he was a bit tipsy and was looking forward to a one night stand.

His phone rang, a simple ring that stopped his conversation as he excused himself and moved near the exit to get some sort of quiet. "Hello? Nicholas York speaking, how may I help you?" This better not be about work.

And it wasn't as if Isaac forgave easily, yes, maybe Bradley had meant it, but that didn't change a damn thing. Isaac got his vindictiveness from somewhere. He wasn't sure where, but somewhere, and he wasn't just about to forgive Bradley for it.

Of all people, he'd done it...

Why was he even thinking about it, considering it? He and Bradley weren't really suited, but where Rei hated blonds, maybe Isaac had a weakness for them. Ugh. Maybe he really should search around for some of that cold medicine before knocking out, that sounded good.

Of all the things that Matthias had expected Nicholas York to say over the phone, such a proper greeting without any obscenities was not it. And then he wondered if the guy was drunk and should he call back later?

"Um, wow, okay, you actually sound like a nice guy over the phone." Matthias couldn't help himself as he sat down on the edge of his bed. He was doing this for Isaac, not against him. Even if this whole thing was technically his fault...and then some.

"But that aside, I'm Derringer from the Phil. I've...well, I guess you can say I've been thinking a lot about your proposition. While I'm not going to sabotage my best friend in any way, you've intrigued me enough." That sounded safe, after all, he wasn't about to do anything too risky. Nor was he about to betray Isaac, but...listening to a possible solution was far from a crime. Besides, Isaac never had to know.

Nick paused as he heard the voice, brows furrowing as he tried to place the familiarity. "Don't spread around rumors that I'm nice," he lectured partially. "I'm a critic. Everyone should hate me."

It was a rather strange thing to say to a person he couldn't name, his mind going a mile per second going through all recent conversations where he'd given out his number and hadn't received word yet. Down to three people; Veronica from Gucci, Sasha from five minutes ago and...

Ah. Derringer from the phil. Well that made sense, considering the other two were women but he wasn't at full speed thinking right now.

"Nice to hear from you though. How'd the concert go?"

"This isn't sabotage," he argued, not liking the word himself. "This is pointing out flaws. I'm to assume something happened tonight that made you change your mind?"

Nich didn't really have that much of a grand plan. He had really just been wondering if he was alone in the thought of separating them, and knowing he wasn't with Joshua and Sarah, curiosity had ventured over to decide if someone on the other side had the same thoughts. His reporters instinct had been right, and brought him Derringer.

"I don't have a grand scheme if thats what you're hoping for. I'm only working with what I have and that, is the lovely creature who is determined to get back with Isaac. That blond singer."

"Don't spread around rumors that I'm nice, I'm a critic. Everyone should hate me."

Of all greetings that he was counting on receiving, this one wasn't it. In spite of himself, Matthias laughed, Nicholas York was turning out to be quite a character, which was why Isaac hated him, maybe. "Well, look at it this way, I'm old news, I have no reason to hate you."

The concert... "You weren't there?" Matthias had been preoccupied with other things, obviously. "The first half was so-so, the second half...was interesting. Isaac insisted on playing, even though he was dying sick and Pearce let him. Made all the difference." He still wasn't sure what to think about that though.

"Ehh...Bradley?" Even in Matthias' mind, that sounded farfetched, "He's probably on a plane back to London about now, doubt that he's going to be of any help...and besides, there's this small thing, he and Isaac don't have the greatest history. I doubt that Isaac is going to leave Pearce for Bradley any time soon. They're even more mismatched than Isaac and Pearce are, trust me."

Well, no, Matthias had come to terms that Isaac was throwing himself into yet another unhealthy relationship, but since when was that anything new?

The laughter was pleasant to his ears, making him smile as he leaned against the black walls. "Oh no, that's the biggest scoop of all. Tension, affairs or disagreements between last season and current season concert masters. Don't underestimate yourself, as long as you play for a living, you have a reason to hate me."

Nick was almost a bit hurt that his presence wasn't noticed, but then again, he would have been backstage with Leroy so he wouldn't be seen that much. "You really think a single guy playing makes all the difference? Langley's good at playing but he can't control every sound that appears."

Something told him Rei had pulled off or attempted another one of this theories. Now that was something to write about. He'd need to call Leroy after this.

Blondie turned out to be a kid named Bradley. Nick didn't like the sound of the name but kept that fact to himself. "Getting them back together is pointless, especially if Langley's against cheating," he pointed out, shaking his head that the genius didn't quite hit the other. "Nothing about getting them together. It's more about the brats feelings for the singer. They didn't look to be over. Any special looks or gazes he fell into during the concert?" Most tended to reveal who they loved when they least expected it.

"Rei just needs to feel a hint that Langley isn't over this Bradley and he'll cut it off, nice and cleanly. If that doesn't work, there's always Julia...but that's too cruel. Best stick to this Bradley."

"I wouldn't be so sure...after this fiasco, I'm thinking I'm ripe for retirement." And Matthias half meant it. "Actually thinking of changing careers, something quieter like an accountant or something. If I keep going like this, I'm overdue for a heart attack or something." (It'd later hit him that he was having a somewhat normal conversation with Nicholas York, one of the most feared critics in the area.)

"You kind of had to be there to see it. But I swear I kid you not. I didn't think it'd be possible, either." And that little exchange that Isaac and Pearce had after Matthias had been shooed away, that...

"Any gazes between who? Isaac and Pearce or Isaac and Bradley? Was Bradley even there?" One of those times where Matthias felt out of the loop, but then again, gossip was not his favorite subject. If Bradley had been there, Isaac certainly hadn't mentioned it.

And then, again, he was stuck between a rock and a hard place, but then Nicholas tossed out a name, a name that had him intrigued.

"Anyone can be blind and see that it's over between Isaac and Bradley. I'll see what I can do...who is Julia?"

"You work for Rei, you were due for retirement years ago," Nick spoke, shuddering himself as he remembered when the two had attempted the idea of a duet. It was traumatizing, how easily the man could pick out every error and point it out in the worst way possible.

"Accountants have it much worse. Late nights, early mornings, and grey hairs in their thirties. If Rei picked you to be a concertmaster, even if it was last season, it means you have talent. Don't just throw it away when so many people still want to play," his fingers tapped against his thigh as he spoke, the light scars down his knuckles hidden in the dim light.

"Not between them, this isn't some cliche love story," Nick rolled his eyes at the thought. "Did Langley look like he hated Bradley when he went to watch his show on Saturday?" He didn't want to think about the gazes between Isaac and Rei. Didn't even want to think about it.

It was strange that they were talking so easily but it didn't bother Nick too much. He rarely talked to anyone on his phone that didn't give him a headache, so it was a pleasant change. But then he realized the slip of name and cursed.

"Julia is the only reason Rei is your boss. But forget about her, she's the last person you'd ever want to remind Rei about."

Matthias had sometimes, a guilt complex. Although he didn't think it was possible to have one on the phone with Nicholas York. "You're underestimating me, before Pearce, I had to survive Isaac first, and then Isaac post-Bradley and then Pearce. I've had plenty of practice."

Although, at York's picture of a accountant, Matthias laughed again, "That doesn't sound so bad right about now. Except for the graying at thirty part...I like my hair the way it is."

This was sounding plenty cliche right here, actually. Two people (ie Pearce and Isaac) who were completely unsuited to one another with two best friends (York and himself) trying to break them up, along with dark, unexplainable pasts (in the style of Bradley and Julia). Not cliche at all.

"If Isaac is against cheating, which he is, obviously he'd be less than thrilled to see Bradley...look, eventually we're going to dig ourselves into a hole anyway, so we might as well be careful doing it. You work on Pearce and I"ll work on Isaac and everything will hopefully tun out hunky dory. Not an optimist, I'm just practicing sounding like one."

Although telling Isaac that Pearce had some unexplainable past might persuade him, after all, if there was anything that Isaac hated, it was baggage.

"...Wow. You must have had Rei on a lot of good days, I'm very impressed," Nick spoke, sadly quite serious about the words. Though he was wondering more about this Bradley character, he really didn't care enough about Isaac to find out.

"Exactly, best stay in the world of music. Switching careers is a bitch and a half." There's the whole issue of getting degrees and such in order to get a damn job, though Nick just introduced the Times to Rei Pearce, had him talk them down, and explain how there was no one better to critic and truly understand music than a man who knew the light haired conductor well.

He had gotten the job and received a lovely pay check every month.

"Conscious and subconscious are two realms that the mind doesn't realize. Langley cannot be over someone who still holds that heavy of an impact on him," Nick reasoned before sighing and giving up to the plan. "All right, we'll do it that way."

That was when he remembered his little slip and quickly coughed. "Just don't mention Julia. Ever. Forget her name. While it may keep the two separated for good...if you have one shred of respect for Rei, you'll forget about her. See you later Derringer...call me if you need anything else."

He hung up, sighing as he cursed his own thoughts before walking to the bar, a beautiful red head looping her arm around his neck. But Nick didn't enjoy the rest of the night, even with her large chest pressing into his side.
