Rei was quickly carried to his office before anyone could notice the change. His friends stormed in first, storming their way past security and beginning to lecture him and fuss over, pulling out various medicine's they forced him to drink down, which he took rather happily. Nick couldn't get a single world out as Sarah's horribly scolding voice appeared instead. "You idiot. What if you fainted up there?!" She scolded, as a very worried Sam ran in to hug his brother and a crying Alice almost tackled his weakened body down. "W-Why are you crying?" Rei stuttered, a bit shocked with all the attention. "Because...Unka didn't even get a single person to clap for him after he tried so hard," she sobbed, lifting up her small hands and giving him her own personal applause, which the other few members in the room joined in, their laughter ringing at such an innocent sentiment. "You're still an idiot," Sarah punctuated though. "Language in front of the child," his mother spoke, her red hair pulled up in a pony tale before she smiled at Rei. "You did wonderful up there Rei. Best concert I've ever heard, and you know we go about twice a week to professional ones." He also knew she never lied and rarely complimented. "I'll come with you guys a bit later," Rei spoke, breaking up the small celebration as he saw a few packing his things. "I need a bit of fresh air. You know I like the empty hall," he spoke, receiving a few nods before he got various hugs and the room was emptied. When he went to the hall it was empty. Every seat was vacant. The crew had gone, just a few lights remaining, and not a soul in the room but his. Pure and utter silence, so different from before. But this empty hall felt so different from the ones he stood before, making him frown and wonder, just what had changed. |

When they finally did get to Larsen, he looked neither displeased nor pleased, but no reaction was a good reaction in this case. The three of them rode the elevator down to the parking structure, and then Larsen said, "Your solo...it wasn't bad. And I wasn't expecting Bell to play like that." "Oh?" Isaac's head suddenly hurt, the feeling still throbbed in his chest and refused to let him go. If Patricia said it... Sure, Rei didn't confess his love for him on the stage, that much he knew, but he always knew that something had happened up there. Rei never pushed the applause onto them. And still, Isaac wanted to...he shook his head, no, this was an impossib-- "Isaac." Matthias snapped his fingers in front of his face, "Where's your suit jacket?" "Where's my--" Isaac broke off, realizing that he was indeed sans his suit jacket. It had been such a frenzied few minutes that he could have taken it off without much notice. "I guess I left it...I'll go get it...just give me a sec." Larsen and Matthias watched as Isaac disappeared back into the elevator, violin swung over one shoulder, and Larsen turned to his brother's friend: "About this conductor...Isaac is serious about him?" |

It was eerily silent for him, making him eye the only remaining valuables on the stage. Only two things. A jacket, slung over a chair's back in the front row and a violin and its matching bow, left near the back. There was going to be a panicking violinist tonight but Rei wasn't going to be making any calls. He did however, walk toward it, picking it up and placed it on his shoulder, his chin lightly on the instrument as he just held it there. He took in a deep breath, raising his hand and just plucked the string, as a soft quick sound appeared. He plucked a few more, a small simple melody he learned when he started. But it wasn't quite enough, making him look around and make sure no one was there. There was still no soul but his own. So he lifted up the bow, placing it against the A, and playing it slow, the sound echoing through the halls and in his mind, bringing the applause back to life. He put down the violin, shaking his head at his silly behavior before walking to his usual spot and glancing at the podium he had pushed aside. The feeling of the hand touching him returned, as if the entire situation played over again in his mind. It was then that his thinking had finally began, thinking and debating the answer he promised to give tomorrow. It was going to be a long time before he got to the party. |

"...Do you think we should have told him he left his violin too?" Matthias watched as the elevator door slid closed. But at Larsen's question about Isaac and this conductor...he shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know anymore, Larsen, really, I don't. I mean, I used to know...but, you know, no one ever knows Isaac." Larsen for a long moment said nothing. He found himself inclined to agree after a moment, everyone knew the parts of Isaac he wanted you to know, but no one got under the loud, obnoxious part of him. He was fun to be around, but difficult to live with. "Let's just go wait in the car." About halfway up the elevator ride, Isaac realized that he, was not only jacket-less, but he was also violin-less. Had he really been that frazzled? Isaac didn't like being frazzled in any sense, he was always the one with perfect control over himself, and what people thought of him. At least...he was going back to get it now and not later. The last time Isaac had pulled a stunt like this was when he was performing with the London Phil a few years back...a certain someone had been distracting and he hadn't even remembered that he'd left his violin. Funny how similar the reasons were even now. The hall seemed empty, but then, a clear A rang out...and Isaac recognized his violin, the bastard that was messing around on it would-- Oh. There was only one person on stage, and the person was--Rei. Suddenly, Isaac's eyes felt hot again, and for the moment, he couldn't speak because even if it had been one note-- Finally, he forced his feet to move, until he was stand there at the edge of the first row looking up. "I was uh...wondering where I left it." was all his usually sharp tongue could think of to say. |

Thoughts began organizing and reorganizing themselves. All their previous conversations, the past two weeks and every little detail he could imagine was slowly sinking into him as he had to truly decide the thing that would truly change the relationship they had now. Tomorrow, there would be no soft kissing that fanned the mans hope. No more massages, no more conversations about Alice and a complete pretend that nothing had happened between them. But that was if he said no. If he said yes, there would be more. So more much, more of that warmth and emotion he wasn't used to feeling and Isaac so easily inspired, more of the beautiful sounds that would lead to things like tonight and most importantly...there would be more of Isaac. They would need to open. Be honest. Honest about everything. Not right away but eventually...and that was the hardest part of all. Not to mention that the little worry that Isaac was only in it for the thrill continued to haunt his veins. So as he stood there, so deep in thought, the last thing he expected to hear was a voice. He jumped, turning around so suddenly that his arm knocked all his papers clear off the podium, his legs twisting as he quite ungracefully fell on his ass and was left to blink slowly as the paper floated down, one piece even having the dignity to land on his head. "...I wasn't expecting you," he coughed, looking down and picking up his papers immediately as he tried to hide his slight blush. Speak of the devil and he shall appear. "...Jacket or violin?" He asked, almost worrying how long he had been there for. |

O.Kay. "Not the welcome I was expecting, but nice to see you too. Don't worry, I wasn't expect me either." Isaac kept his voice light and climbed up the stage, and reached for the jacket where it was draped, allowing Rei at least some of his privacy. And here, he had the decency to look a little sheepish. "Both. I have my days too, you know. My case is empty, I checked in the elevator." Isaac was one of those kids that showed up to lessons without his violin--but a couple of those times was purely on purpose because he liked his teachers' violins better. Speaking of violin... Isaac picked it up and glossed his fingers over the fingerboard, Rei had held his violin, just a few moments before, and...he had been tempted to play it. He opened his empty violin case and placed it on a chair, wiping the wood over mostly out of habit. Isaac wasn't careful with a lot of things, but at least he was careful with his livelihood. When he finally closed the case, he looked at Rei again. "What're you doing here? I'd thought you'd either be passed out or out celebrating somewhere." Of all things, he didn't expect Rei Pearce to be here tempting himself with Isaac's violin in an empty hall. |

That was...Isaac's violin? It almost made sense, for such a well made violin that could produce such a sound to belong to the man who currently plagued his mind. It was so suitable that the instrument that tempted him belonged to the owner who was doing the same. All so suitable. "I always tell them to go ahead without me," Rei spoke, the sickness playing with his ability to lie and morphing it into the truth. "After every concert. That's why the halls still open. I like to hear the quiet hall so I know that sound wasn't a dream." It was such a strange revelation, a private one he hadn't ever told anyone. But the next part was even more strange, as he merely untangled himself and remained seated on the floor, staring at the chairs with his back turned to Isaac. "...but I can't. You won't get out of my head." Which was true in every way. He just couldn't stop thinking and come to a decision. Part of him, his usual standards and the way he always was told him to say no and be done with it. The memory of yesterday and how caring Isaac had been, their lunch, their walk before their small fight, Alice and everything else made him want to say yes. His mind said no, his heart said yes. Bloody typical. He wasn't going to ask the third member of the party, they were biased and sexually deprived, even more so thanks to last night. It seemed almost redundant to reveal it to Isaac. "So I'm asking the silence to figure out if I could grow to love you." |

Well, Isaac could have known that without Rei telling him, but even so, the entire thing sounded a bit too intimate to just admit aloud to someone like that...to a person that professed to be interested in you. Perhaps especially then. It was probably the most honest thing that Rei Pearce had ever said to him, and it made Isaac feel oddly warm, and the back of his eyes burned. He took his time, mulling over an answer while he loosened his bowtie and tucked it inside his case. "Do you...?" It wasn't exactly a question, it was just something that Isaac said to keep the silence from weighing on them again. He never did like the silence much, when it was too silence, Isaac tended to talk to himself, because the silence drove him a bit insane. Just a bit. But Rei was asking the silence if he could...grow to love Isaac. Somehow, that was a bit too honest, that the fact that he could love him was on the radar. He slung his case over his shoulder again and spent a good minute staring at Rei's back. "Earlier...when you almost fainted onstage. I thought I did love you." Isaac would return honesty with honesty, although perhaps it hadn't been a fair trade. He wasn't going to say why, it was that moment of the thing, and it'd faded away accordingly, but he still remembered the intensity that burned in his chest. "But...you shouldn't feel obligated to answer just because..." He trailed off. After all, Isaac Langley wasn't a man without his own faults. He just flaunted them so they didn't seem like faults to other people. They became assets, assets people wanted. |

The question wasn't answered. He didn't think it was supposed to be answered, just something to stall between them as Rei stared into the empty seats and thought. Things were so quiet and fragile between them, as if it would break apart if either one of them side the wrong words or tipped the scale. Isaac was the one who finally tipped it. His eyes closed, a hum leaving him before he heard the statement. When he almost fainted...? Rei couldn't understand, what it was about that moment that seemed to enchant Isaac, making him stand up slowly, his legs still shaky as strength hadn't returned to him, before he slowly turned around, the single light shining on the stage illuminating his silhouette. "...Why?" He felt like he was asking a forbidden question, especially as he walked over and stared right into the green eyes. "How can you know?" It was like a child asking an adult the difficult feelings of love, an answer Rei hadn't really received. Sure he'd dated, had sex and such...but he'd never fallen. He'd had others fall, but never had he let himself go. "You've waited patiently you know," Rei spoke, lifting up his hand as he took note again how tall the black haired man was, moving the black strands as they blanketed their gaze. "You're allowed to be selfish too." |

"Why..." Isaac dragged out the word as he realized that Rei was turned around and looking at him. Finally, he shrugged, "Because you were. You just are, it was a moment of weakness for you, and...if I can love you in a moment like that, then...the other moments take time, that's all. I don't know. Again, I'm a little bit stupid when it comes to stuff like this." Because usually, Isaac was the one who had the final say and now, he was the one waiting for an answer. It felt weird like this, he thought. "And...I don't know. It's something that just comes to you," (actually, the fact that it had come to him at all was a bit disturbing.) Isaac pursed his lips and tilted his head to look at his conductor. Rei had a point, he supposed, but one that Isaac hadn't considered. He hadn't been expecting Rei to touch him, up until now, their so called courtship was Isaac initiating the touches, except for the one time last night when Rei wasn't himself. This was different. "I guess you can look at it that way," he said finally, his own hand lifting up to thread through Rei's fingers, "But you can also look at it the way I look at it: you're allowed to reject me. And when you reject me, I won't even have things like this...so in all honesty, I'm already selfish for not letting you answer." Now that...had been entirely too honest, Isaac would berate himself for it later. |

It was definitely a moment of weakness for him. Much worse than yesterday as he had been near collapse on opening night of all things. He didn't want to think about the media frenzy it would cause, the amount of phone calls and all the wasted time. "You know more than I do," Rei offered, though he knew it wasn't going to make the other feel that much better. So he would just know. He couldn't plan it and it would just appear. It was a strange concept. As their fingers interlocked, Rei strangely enough didn't let go, just letting his hand stay that way as he enjoyed the warmth through his cold touch. He always had cold hands and feet, bad circulation. Selfishness was letting Isaac wait...but it probably wasn't pleasant to wait. On the other hand, this also wasn't unpleasant. Nothing really had been. "...I'm a cold ass," he spoke slowly, looking off to the side as he began to ramble. "I don't take care of myself, I'm cruel and I'll still yell at you and lecture you for an hour if you're late to rehearsal. I get jealous easily," he spoke, stopping as the muscle jumped yet again, "and you're delusional for liking me...but I mean well. I'll try hard and..." He trailed off, biting his lip as his cheeks flushed and he finally looked up and gave the hand holding his a small squeeze. "I'm saying that although I have no idea where this will take us, I'm willing to try." And that was his answer. |

"Do I?" It was a rhetorical question, sort of. And Isaac had an inkling why he knew more than Rei did. He'd loved before, and knew what it felt like. He hated the way that it had ended, sure, but...he did not regret knowing those emotions. But that was a story for a day so far away that Isaac wasn't going to be alive for it. Especially since Rei just admitted he was cruel and jealous. Jealous. He thought about the note in his pocket. And of 'Were the World Mine' finishing up in the Apollo Theatre and the orchids that were half in the trash. New York City was a big city, why did he even need to worry about it? Bradley hated the States, he wouldn't just come after a person he had all but thrown away. Besides, Isaac was totally over him completely. Sure, he might be affected with the British accent for a while but-- His brain almost shut down as he blinked at Rei. Did the man really just... Well, it wasn't a straight yes or no, but managed to twist itself into a yes anyway. Isaac shook off his shocked face for a smile as he raised up their intertwined hands and placed a kiss on Rei's knuckles. An actual kiss seemed cliche. "If you were any of the other things, I probably wouldn't like you." (Should he be appalled at how much he meant it? Of the warmth rising up in his chest.) "I'm strange like that." |

For a moment, Rei wondered if it had all been a sick joke. A bet or prank of some sort, to put him this far, and then just be torn away. That his 'yes' really meant that people would pop out of nowhere and laugh at him and how foolish he was. But it didn't happen that way. Rei instead seemed to smile, the soft lips that used to kiss him before planting themselves on his knuckles. The entire situation was so strange. Rei could only let his lips smile slightly as his hand was lifted up, the same shaky hand that had dropped the baton that was still laying on the floor. It seemed surreal, like a dream that would shake him awake and let reality laugh pitifully in his face once more. "That's reassuring," he spoke, his lip quirking up even more as a smile seemed to grow on his features. It was such a funny statement that he was feeling warm inside, blinking as he was a bit unsure of what to do. He shut off his mind, as it had lost, and pulled down the hand away from Isaac's lips, his other arm going up and pulling at the mans collar before brushing his lips against the mans, smiling at the feeling. Yes, he was definitely right to put his lips on the pro list. Rei didn't quite feel like talking. |

Isaac half smirked at him, "Obviousl--mm." Maybe his memory was faulty right at this moment, but...was this the first time that Rei had reached to kiss him instead of just receiving it when Isaac leaned forward. It'd been a long time since he'd been kissed and Isaac thought he could grow to like it. Kissing people and being kissed by them was largely different. Or...so he thought. This was not the way he was expecting the whole affair to turn, but somehow, this was reassuring to him on another level. He wasn't sure what to make of it, but still. "I mean..." What was he supposed to say now? He couldn't have felt this insanely happy...but only when Isaac glanced down at his watch did he note that he had been gone a good long time. And the last thing he wanted was for his brother and Matthias to walk in on something that seemed almost too sacred. He meant...he didn't know what he meant, didn't want to dwell on it too much, either. "Do you want a ride back or wherever you're going?" (He was not afraid of pitting Larsen against Rei, maybe it was good to do it early. Strike while the iron was hot.) |

The kiss was fleeting, not lasting as long as he would have hoped but Rei honestly couldn't complain. Butterflies seemed to lightly flutter in his stomach, sending a pleasant whirlwind through him that made him feel a bit hazy when they separated, his fingers loosening on the mans collar but not quite letting go. So he just stood there, holding Isaac's hand and lightly grasping his collar, which he began straightening out. He felt shy and nervous all of a sudden, licking his lip lightly as Isaac suggested his offer. "Sure. My place," he spoke, considering there was a bar right beside and it was where everyone probably was. Even Alice and Sam, though they would be drinking various pop drinks. The rest were probably hammering down shots and celebrating without him. It was strange that it all seemed to go a lot faster than he thought it would, his thinking that is. But that was mainly because he stopped. He almost wanted to ask what they were now. They were definitely no longer just conductor and concertmaster but they certainly weren't just friends. Unfortunately, the soft mood was ruined as a rather warm feeling in his crotch made it very knowing that there was only one way to find out. "They can wait another minute." With that, he pulled down the concertmaster yet again, though the kiss this time was nowhere near as soft or gentle as before. On the other hand, it was just showing Isaac what on earth could have happened the night before. And that perhaps Rei hadn't finished listing all his faults and nuances. |
