Rei wasn't beginning to think rationally anymore, which always worried him. The barriers were there, but he had a sick feeling that it wasn't Isaac's fault. It was still his own. The only constant in all the failing relationships he had or had attempted. Nothing had changed. So he went for the mans advice. He tried not being...'normal'. "I appreciate you giving me your coat," he spoke all of a sudden, as if ignoring the words stated to him. It was a blunt agreement to hide the skeleton and pretend it didn't exist. "I turn funny when I'm sick," he revealed slowly, cheeks turning pink as he fiddled with his thumbs, all to aware of how close they were. "I--It's worse than being d-drunk," he stammered, trying to push the wonder on why he revealing such information. No thinking. He couldn't think. Maybe because he felt bad. That he hadn't made Isaac feel better but worse instead. "I'm clingy you know," now he turned the other way, knowing that it was best to hide his expression completely. "Like a needy child who constantly needs a-attention..." 'And wants to have sex', a voice reminded him of the last time he got sick. Which Nick had taken advantage of. Shit. "...and...ugh...gets needy," he stressed, not willing to really admit what happened. But he stood up moments later, turning to look at the man who had sat down. "I...thanks for giving me your coat. I-I gotta go," he spoke, grabbing his papers nervously before he shoved them in his bag in a rush. He took a step or two before turning around though, revealing his embarrassed flushed face that was finally thinking about what he was doing. "Feel better. You look better when you smile." With that he turned around and walked as fast as he could out the door. |

[[ It occurred to me that everything seems to get poor Rei horny =D ]] Isaac stopped and turned. He hadn't expected Pearce to be so close to him. But he was. Uh... So, within the next thirty seconds, Isaac had learned a couple of things, the most important thing was that Pearce turned...funny when he was sick. Was clingy, needy (did that translate to horny?) well, but if anything, that gave him a few things to thinkk about. Although he had no idea why Pearce had just went and confessed all that. Maybe illness did make him wonky. "Feel better. You look better when you smile." And even if Isaac did not feel like smiling at the moment, he wanted to smile. Usually, he didn't even smile that much, he was no stranger to smirks. A tremor worked his way up his spine, it was a warm, tingling feeling that refused to go away, even as he acknowledged that Pearce had walked past him and exited. He wasn't thinking, mostly, because thoughts hurt his head, but whether or not, that confession made Isaac feel ten times better, although it really didn't resolve anything... He caught up to Pearce easily enough (There was really some advantages to be taller, after all) and reached out to pull his conductor towards him. Just holding him there for a couple of...seconds. He might have counted to five. It was warm and nice, and for once he didn't think about sex. And then he let go, and wore a smile that was oddly bright. It was not an unbecoming expression on Isaac, it just looked a little wierd. "Thank you." And now it really was time to go. |

Rei needed to get out. His thoughts were catching up to him and he didn't like what they were saying. They were doubting him, question his action and telling him to turn around, shot down the hope at a relationship, run to the car and go home immediately. But he couldn't. It was so strange to give away such a personal secret that so few knew about (only Nick and that didn't end well). He willingly said it and wondered if it made even the smallest of differences. He found out seconds later that it did. The footsteps behind him finally caught his ears just as he reached to open the door and exit but he was stopped, turning around to feel the hands pull him towards something. It ended up being a someone. Someone who hugged him and smelled good. It wasn't that Rei was smelling him. Just on a reflex he inhaled when he felt his cheek land on the warm material, vaguely aware of the strength that was behind such an embrace. It was a deep smell, a smell that didn't appear unless one noticed it or got close. A natural smell that anyone could used to. That he could get used to. He relaxed as he was held, not bothering to debate if he should hug back as he merely looked up just as he was let go and felt oddly cold. The smile seemed to send warm ripples through him though, making him return the smile with one of his own, though it was tingled with being shy as his earlier embarrassment hadn't yet moved on. "Y-Yeah...I-I'll head off first. Just keep what I said in mind," he spoke as he reached for the door again before pausing. "...And not the part about being sick." |

Well, perhaps that was a good sign in Isaac's favor after all. Rei didn't completely shove him away and run away like Isaac really had done something completely unforgivable. In fact, Pearce almost looked--Rei almost looked disappointed when Isaac pulled away (Or he was trying to hard to imagine it that way.) And yet...from the question he had poised a couple of days ago, still recieved no answer. He had no idea if this was helpful or not. It had to be a little helpful...right? However, he waited until Pearce had disappeared down to the structure until he moved to walk himself down there as well. He just felt...strange. Bradley St. Ryan suddenly didn't seem so pressing. THere weren't that many cars around and he found Matthias easily enough. HIs friend was wearing an interesting expression. "You've got competition," he said finally, "York likes him." ..."Yeah." Isaac got into the car and sighed, his coat smelled like Pearce because there was a smell on it. It wasn't unpleasant, but people couldn't smell themselves. "Good on him." "You're sounding British again." "Damn it..." |

"What took so long," the voice from the driver's seat called the moment Rei sat in the car and closed the door. "Don't I get a hello?" It was a sad way to change the subject and failed to work. "Hello. What took so long?" Rei sighed, finding the itch in his neck returning as he rubbed at it slightly. "I had some things to double check on." "With Langley?" It took Rei a moment or two to understand who was even being talked about, such a realization that seemed to hit both of the members in the car immediately. "...You're fucking kidding me. You likehim? The selfish brat that you were complaining about all the time? You're high." "No Nick, you're high," Rei shot out angrily. The good mood he had been in seemed to have deflated immediately. The magic was once again gone, bringing back the closed off, barrier personality that was famous to the philharmonic. "I don't think of him that way," he continued before Nick could even think of interrupting him. "I'm not even considering it. We just had to talk about some errors and the change in practice time because we ended early. That's it. Now start driving." It was strange that Rei couldn't help but note that it was the first time he'd ever lied to Nick. |

"I can't believe just hearing that he's in town makes my accent come back," thinking about that was a lot safer than just thinking about what had transpired between him and Rei just now. "Do I have an accent now?" Isaac was irritated, but for once, he was grateful for the irritation. "Well, think about it, you've been over there ever since you were fifteen, so...it's been a good seven years, it's not something you can just shake. At least you weren't trolling around with him for seven years...and yes, you still have the accent." It was raining outside, and Isaac tapped the window, maybe if he watched it, he could get rid of it again. "I can't believe it's raining so hard...how about now?" "Better, but it's stil there, a little." Isaac's accent came out when he was irritated, and honestly, Matthias couldn't blame him. "What are you going to do with Pearce?" And once upon the time, Isaac thought he knew the answer: get the baton out of his ass and sleep with him, pass go, collect $6000 cash. Since when did things get so blo--get so complicated? Isaac's own feelings and Bradley St. Ryan was not helping. At all. "I think a better question might be how do I deal with York," he said, avoiding the question altogether. Matthias was quiet for a long time, "I'd hate to play the mother hen again, but I'm getting a bad feeling about this..." |

"Get off me Nick," Rei hissed. It happened far too quickly for Rei to make complete sense of it and stop it. He must have been getting feverish, as that was the only excuse he could think of at the moment. They'd pulled over in front of his apartment and were just talking about the upcoming Saturday when Nick reminded Rei of the last time he was sick. Then he had leaned over and attempting to kiss the conductor, who had easily avoided it by raising up an arm. Which had been pushed back and held behind his head as the critic merely leaned even more over. "Why?" "We agree that we'd be friend only Nick," he responded shortly, his temper flaring. "None of those benefits you want. I don't want that." "Liar," Nick shot out, his own anger beginning to coil as he remembered Isaac's words. "You want it. You love it after all," he spoke, raising his hand as he found the sensitive spot on the mans neck with ease. "I remember." Rei's mouth let out that luxurious moan before his mouth was silenced with Nick's. The arms that went around him were different, much different then the ones around him before he got into the car. It was always in a damn car. A groan of pain left Nick though as he moved back, staring at the conductor in shock as his hand reached up to feel the crimson liquid on his lip. "You bit me!" "You fucking deserved it! Don't call me, visit me or anything!" Without thinking, he opened the door and slammed the door, leaving behind his bag as he stormed to his apartment, thanked a higher being that his keys were in his pocket and proceeded to climb inside his bed and just curl himself back up. He needed to rest. He had dinner with Alice in the evening. |

It ended up pouring for the rest of the day. Isaac listened to the pitter patter of the windows as he laid there on the couch sipping hot coffee, extra cream, generous amount of sugar. His headache mostly went away and he spent the rest of the afternoon watching Mission Impossible. Tom Cruise couldn't fake an accent to save his life, and it was an accent that was distinctively American with no British twang. And after the movie was over, he found Matthias in his room reading a book. "About earlier," Isaac began, feeling a little bit awkward because he never came into Matthias' room and Matthias never came into his room unless there was something important. Matthias glanced up at his book, "What about earlier?" He only wore glasses when he was reading, and the glasses made him look ridiculous. But Matthias never cared about the trend. All in all, he was more grounded than Isaac could ever hope to be. And none of his exes had been like Matthias either, all of his exes had a screw or two loose somewhere. Case in point: Bradley St. Ryan. Isaac shook the thought from his head, "When you said...about Pearce. What gives you a bad feeling?" "I know you like dangerous relationships," Matthias finally sat up after a moment, "And your accent went away--anyway, it's the danger aspect that gets you off. Isn't it?" Somehow, it was unnerving to be analyzed like this...but it was Matthias, so it was all right. Isaac shrugged. "He's one of those people that'll want things from you. Things you can't always give him." Isaac thought back to Pearce's 'confession' before they'd left: he was funny when he was sick, needy, clingy. Something like that? "At least Rei isn't anything like Bradley..." |

Nick had called him. In fact, he'd called him so many times that Rei just turned off his phone and let it charge, continuing to curl up and try to dream the sick feeling in his stomach away. He felt horrible. He shouldn't have admitted to Isaac that of all things, he got horny when sick. Not stricken to bed sick, but when he had a fever he tended to get hot in more ways than one. He shouldn't have even asked what was wrong and he most definitely shouldn't have accepted the hug. Or the kiss. Which felt different from the one he got today. Then again that one he agreed to, making him strangely happy that at least he was asked. That things were slow and he was hugged slowly in thanks, not kissed passionately. It made things just a little bit easier yet all the more complicated at the same time. Hours passed as Rei just thought in circles about the two men 'interested' in him. He turned on his phone and checked it, noting all the missed calls and messages were from one person, deleting them with no second thought before he pushed himself out of bed and got ready. He would have called and cancelled but that wasn't possible. Not when he had to break it to Alice that he couldn't go to the park with her tomorrow because of rehearsal, though he might be able to convince his sister to let her go to the concert. That would be three days of seeing each other instead of two so she wouldn't be that upset. But as Rei looked up and say his reflection, he realized that he needed to stop looking so upset before anyone else. |

"So you don't think I'm able to provide everything that he'll end up...needing?" Isaac mulled the idea over in his head for a moment before speaking again. "Matthias, you've never had sex with me." (Not that he really wanted to change that ever, but still.) That just earned him a decidedly unamused from the former concertmaster, sometimes, the two months' different between them (with Isaac born in March and Matthias in late January) stretched into two years, sometimes twenty. "...I wasn't talking about sex. I'm just talking about in general. If you thought Bradley was bad, you probably have to put up with a lot more." "But I don't mind putting up with stuff like that." The answer left his mouth too readily, and Matthias didn't react. It made Isaac wonder if his friend knew something about his supposed courtship that he didn't. "I mean...shit." Suddenly his head hurt all over again. Isaac was going to put aspirin on the shopping list the next time he went. Which wasn't good at all. He wasn't in the habit of popping pills. Matthias pitied him, "Let's just go out tonight, okay? Dinner and a movie, and if we feel up to it, we'll call Walton and drink him under a table." Not that Isaac really knew anymore. But... He was relieved, "Sounds good. Let's do that." |

Rei had taken a shower, where the water was icy and forced a reaction other than disgust and confusion out of him. He got out cold, which wasn't good considering that he began sniffling afterwords but he felt better. He didn't feel weird and was just focused. He couldn't help but note that his face was its usual blank expression before he got dressed in a suit, knowing full well that knowing his sister, he would certainly be going out to dinner at a nice location. She hated cooking after all. So he left, grabbing his bag as he called a taxi and hide under the rain in the building, sneezing a few times and waving off the suggestion that perhaps it would be wiser to stay at home. The taxi ride was short, considering the group didn't live that far off in manhattan, just in one of the larger apartment sized areas. He brought a single toy with him, a tradition of giving a collection of teddy bears that Alice adored. He knocked on the door twice when he arrived, waiting before a dark haired beauty stared at him, her poker face breaking into a beautiful smile as she saw Rei. "Rei, welcome," she spoke before ushering him inside, even if both of them know that it was obvious that she knew he was bothered but deciding it was best to leave it alone for now. Besides, he could hear the heavy footsteps of Alice running down to greet him. "Unkaaa~!" |

So...they went to see a movie. Which would have been great if it hadn't been a Jane Austen adaptation of book. Not that Isac had anything against Jane Austen it was just...everyone in the damn movie had a decidedly British accent, (Except for Colin Farrell who still came out sounding very Irish.) Matthias' excuse had been, "I just finished reading the book." That, and you know a guy was your best friend in the world when you went and watched a chick flick with him. "Oh, come on, you're overreacting, it's not like you're going to come out sounding even more affected than you were." "Bloody hell I'm not." Isaac muttered, "I mean, I hate you." Damn. "A lot. I'd throttle you if I could figure out how to avoid arrest." Matthias blinked at him, "Okay, maybe I'm wrong...but I paid for your ticket so you can't complain. Isaac, are you sure you're not doing it on purpose?" "Why would I intentionally want to sound English in the middle of New York City?" Isaac eyed him in mild disgust, "Use your head. Where are we going to eat?" Ignoring the accents though, it had been a good movie. Maybe his literary preferences were also influenced by his seven years in England. "I was thinking the Western Rivera? We can always call Walton for drinks later if we felt like it." Western Rivera, where he had gone with Pearce. It suddenly felt very wierd going with Matthias as company. "Isaac?" "Yeah, the Western Rivera sounds fine." |

Sarah Thoms (Pearce) - Iain Thoms Sebastian Pearce Sam Pearce David and Rebecca Pearce There was iddle chatter as Rei was ushered in and had his leg tackled by Alice who smiled brightly at him. She was a miracle child in his eyes. She had to be considering her genetics. He looked up at his parents, David and Rebecca Pearce, who let the smallest of smiles on their features as they moved to give him a hug and not crush their granddaughter. Then Sebastian, his eldest brother who did nothing but give him a pat on the shoulder, as if they all understood a hidden emotion within Rei. They probably could, as they had grown up with one another and were used to reading the blank expressions and magically getting knowledge out of it. Then there was Sam, his youngest brother who appeared androgynous, who always had that doll like smile on his face. It was from raising Sam that Rei learned that he had a talent with children, especially considering how the teenage boy had ran to him, breaking his controlled exterior as he gave a fierce hug and looked up at him with worried eyes. "I'm fine. I'm guessing Iain's late?" Rei spoke, ruffling the boys hair as he leaned down to pick up Alice who was the only who displayed uncontrolled happiness. "I'm here, just had trouble doing my tie," the blonde man spoke as he came down the stairs, flashing a smile before Sarah went to him and fixed the messy tie. "I hope the Western Rivera is okay." Rei paused, as memories of two days ago flashed through his head. "Sounds...perfect." |

It'd been a while since they'd just ate out like this. There was a sizable crowd at the Western Rivera, but as usual, they were considered regulars, and they always flirted with the waitresses. Matthias was almost glad, things were back to normal, and Isaac ordered an expensive wine with his impeccable French. Or, Isaac always thought it was atrocious, because he thought it was modest to say so. But he didn't look exactly pleased when she asked if he had been to London recently. "Who's paying for the wine?" Matthias glanced at the red liquid in the wine glass. "I mean, Walton isn't here." "I am," Isaac wrapped slender fingers around the glass, "I can't believe she'd actually asked me something like that." "Whether you've been to London? You sound affected, that's all. Think about it, when Bradley leaves, you'll be back to your old sarcastic self in no time. At least this way, you're more aware and...dare I say...posh?" Anyone who didn't know the two of them, probably thought Matthias was putting the moves on him, but Isaac knew better. "A British accent does not make you posh." He leaned his face into his laced his hands on the table. "Now, a French accent, that's sexy." Matthias only rolled his eyes. Nothing like a movie and a night to get Isaac back to normal. "You're impossible." "It's why you love me so much, yes?" |

It was a remarkable sight on the Western Rivera, to see a dressed up beautiful family who looked like they belonged on a catalog walk with their calm, controlled faces. Some stopped to look but it didn't quite matter to the eight membered group. They were led by Sarah and Iain, arm in arm as they whispered to one another that the restaurant had most certainly make sure they reserved enough seats. Following was Sebastian, David and Rebecca, all speaking about various news going on and how things had been. Last but certainly not least was Rei, Alice and Sam, with Rei in the middle as he Alice held his hand and hummed lightly to herself, while the two brothers chatted on how things were going with school and during rehearsal. They arrived at the restaurant, ironically the one he had been to today. While he didn't speak a work of French, his sister, her husband and his parents did, and were fairly fluent at that. It was a relief to entire, as the group sat down at a large table sectioned off for them, Iain ordering two bottles of wine and some juices for the minors at the table. Sarah however, had a much more important agenda at mind. "So you have a concert this Friday?" She spoke in her velvet voice as she raised the signature delicate brow. "I do," Rei responded as he swirled the glass of water in front of him. "Am I to assume you'll be attending?" "We're all coming," Alice chirped up happily before she widened her eyes and covered her mouth, looking down as she appeared rather disappointed at herself. "...Sowwy...It was supposed to be a surprise." A small echo of laughter went through the family before Rei shook his head. "Don't worry, I'm glad. I'll save you seats at the front row." |
