Abandoned Mine Opens Into Sinkhole in Marion County

March 20, 2014

Posted Image

What started out as a low point in the road quickly became a 20-foot-deep sinkhole that completely shut down Pleasant Valley Road in Fairmont.

By Thursday afternoon it had opened up even bigger; wide enough and deep enough to fit a grown man, and probably a few of his friends. That shouldn't be too surprising; the Department of Highways (DOH) said people used to work down there.

"It's a mine shaft down there," said Jeff Pifer, the maintenance engineer for District 4 of the DOH.

People who drive the road regularly said they were nervous when it was just a small hole.

"It was kind of scary when it was two feet deep yesterday and I went through it," said a man who drives on the road regularly.

Now that it's more than 30 feet deep and stretching in opposite directions, the DOH isn't even sure when people can drive on the road again.

"It's going back under the other lane now so we're going to have to close the road down," said Pifer. "We're in preliminary work here to figure out what we're going to do to fix it."

This isn't the first time a mine has opened up. The Department of Environmental Protection said that mine subsidence is a big issue in West Virginia, especially in the spring, when the ground is thawing. The driver who travels the road regularly said he's seen at least three other sinkholes in the same area over the last 40 years.

The workers on scene joked that the sinkhole was the biggest pothole in Marion County, possibly the district. In all seriousness, it is a big problem and one that may take a while to fix. Crews were at the hole all day Thursday to dig out what debris they could. They are currently unsure what is the best way to fix it.

Pleasant Valley Road will be closed until the DOH can be sure the road is stable enough to drive on.

Mountaintop removal leads to sinkholes in Tazewell County

Mar 29, 2014

After a Mountaintop Removal in Tazewell County, a massive sinkhole has developed. About a half mile from the Tazewell County Airport, the sinkhole occurred due to 67 feet of mountaintop removal for safer air travel.

The Airport manager says that this sinkhole developed about 6 months after they put a drainage ditch on the mountain.

"All of a sudden, this hole developed and it was to the point where it was about 80 feet long and 20 feet deep," he said.

He also says that as far as airport safety, this sinkhole is not affecting them, but the hole is expanding.

The only thing the sinkhole is getting in the way of is a plan of a recreational area on top of the mountain.

Mystery of six-foot Northwood sinkhole as collapsed drain theory is ruled out

Mar 28, 2014

A sink-hole has opened in Pinner Road, Northwood

The Northwood sinkhole measured a whopping six feet deep and six feet across, experts say.

The yawning void that opened in Pinner Road this morning is baffling Hillingdon Council engineers, who along with police raced to the spot.

Council workers have been busy all day filling in the chasm that opened up without warning on a busy Northwood street close to the Royal Mail sorting office, causing traffic chaos in the area.

The council’s highways team is planning to remove temporary traffic lights and fully reopen Pinner Road at 6pm, and the road has been resurfaced.

Meanwhile traffic is being diverted down Addison Way.

The question remains: what caused a decent sized piece of road to suddenly collapse?

Earlier today (Friday), Hillingdon Council said it thought the cause might have been a collapsed Thames Water drain cover, but that has been discounted by Nigel Dicker, the council’s deputy director of public safety and environment.

Sinkholes that have appeared around the UK in recent months have been attributed to old mine workings or quarries and the effects of the torrential winter rain.

It has been a busy couple of days in Northwood: a crane collapsed on a building site in Maxwell Road, forcing a family to leave their home.

What caused the Pinner Road sinkhole? Leave your theory below.

You know, I get this funny feeling it isn't all about old mineshafts and leaky pipes and depleting of underground water channels. Too much is going on...everywhere.

I read the one theory that I really really don't like, and it goes like this.

The human collective spiritual consciousness affects the earth's field.....this, in turn affects something else. Which in this case happens to be a Class A neg spirit trapped in a geometric energy prison inside the earth (other-dimensional). When it's minions have finally convince enough humans that "Hey, God doesn't exist, no reason to get spiritual anymore, it's all nothing but science and logic."....then the energy bonds of the earth will be weak enough for it to tip the balance and break out. Then, true SWHTF folks.

So when I say "spiritual entities", you can just say some kind of alien in it's place and it will all make more sense. Cause I think that is what the Bible is about...ancient stories about and warnings and tales about all those times when they were free and in control above and below. Think about it. All the $ and effort spent to keep our minds down/preoccupied and our hearts disconnected from our OWN energy source (which we call God, which in reality is not human like us...but is in a different dimension), convince us God is a silly ancient world toy. When in reality....The Source of All That Is...could be in fact, the energy of life, that keeps this planet running, and we are the 'tweakers' of how this energy is used, according to our "belief" or uh....should I say USE of this energy. When you look at faith and belief as a form of ENERGY and POWER it changes things.

It shows WHY humans are being carefully coddled into the boiling pot to be lobsterized unknowingly. CAUSE WE HAVE THE CONROL SWITCH FOLKS!

>...taking cape and clothespinning it back up on the line....sometimes I wonder if it does any good to say anything...are people reading and listening out there?....tired of the human sacrifices yet?....tired of those you love aging before their time, getting cancer, children dieing from unusual diseases?....tired of breathing, drinking and eating poisons yet all in the name of power, control, greed, planetary domination?

Why do you think this board exists folks? Many on here risk by just posting on here.

...If you ARE....then I highly suggest you develop your energy base. This is done by um....yeah....meditation, prayer (yes, prayer is energy, and also a directive!), helping others, compassion.....um...yeah...good works stuff. This is the only way we are going to defeat it. Gird up the energy ring and snuff it out.

I am not talking about Christianity. Forget that. Think...spirtuality...think...I wish there was a better word....HEART ENERGY may describe it best. Why do you think heart attacks exist and are on the increase? Because our energy base is being attacked.

What meditation and prayer and doing good works does is BUILD YOUR AURIC ENERGIES, strenghtens your energy bodies. That in turn helps others around you, and if many do it, a good 100th monkey thing develops. But it not, and there are too few, the 100th monkey works in favor of reverse energies and we are sucked dry, sickly, planet energy is affected also and the bondings on the entity that was bound is loosened...and it will get the upper hand.

This is dramatic to watch. I think this is a landslide, not sure, but I've seen another headline that says something like 'Baltimore sinkhole actually a landslide', so. At any rate when you hear these screams and watch the things going down on the other side of the road it's pretty dramatic!

Baltimore sinkhole swallows cars as bystanders scream [Video]

Dramatic video captures a Baltimore city block collapsing after fierce rains.

While much of the Northeast continued to dry out from devastating rains Friday, one Baltimore city block swallowed by a sinkhole will take longer to heal.

Dramatic video captured the city block in Charles Village collapsing after fierce thunderstorms this week. Residents may have to be kept away from their homes for more than a month until officials can determine if the buildings are safe, officials said.

A sidewalk and retaining wall buckled and caved in Wednesday afternoon, swallowing a streetlight and more than half a dozen cars. No one was injured.

In addition to the Northeast, parts of the Florida Panhandle and Alabama shore were also hit hard by record rain.

The week of deadly weather began Sunday with severe thunderstorms and tornadoes in Oklahoma and Iowa. The storms then moved through Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee.

In all, at least 65 tornadoes hit the United States as a result of the storm system, according to a preliminary estimate from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. At least 37 deaths in eight states were blamed on the storm.

At least 16 states, most in the South and the Midwest, were hit by the storm system in some way, officials said.
