This was posted this last week at one of my yahoo groups (that I peek in on now and then):

Ladies and gentlemen

I have been and still am very sick - the worst ever
possible disease ever which is called Zoster.
This happens when a nerve gets sick in your body.
In my case it stopped at my heart, lung and stomach.
The pains you get in these organs make you want to
die instead of being alive...no joke.
Lately more and more ads on TV about this horrible disease.
It never cures and it comes back when you don't expect
to happen again. Not many doctors know about disease.
I am squeezed of all my energy and for about 10 days or so
I can't eat anything. Now I have it for about 10 days. The first
time I had it when I was 25. It came back
a few times in NY but they invented Cipro 500 and it took
about a week to come back to normal if you also get eruptions
on the skin -
This time no eruptions, that's why the pains are beyond my
talent of description - I think hell is a better place than this
disease. Knock in all woods not to have it.
I go to bed to rest because I can't stay long at this machine.

I thought 'hmm, zoster. Never heard of that, and I went to do a search. After that, I went to look for natural treatments that may help relieve. I also found out some things during the course of my search that we should be aware of.

(some parts omitted & quoting my post replies, this post and next, without a quote box):

I was looking up this Zoster, which is shingles. I found something interesting but first going to give a short description out of wiki:

Herpes zoster (or simply zoster), commonly known as shingles and also known as zona, is a viral disease characterized by a painful skin rash with blisters in a limited area on one side of the body, often in a stripe. The initial infection with varicella zoster virus (VZV) causes the acute (short-lived) illness chickenpox which generally occurs in children and young adults. Once an episode of chickenpox has resolved, the virus is not eliminated from the body but can go on to cause shingles — an illness with very different symptoms — often many years after the initial infection.

Herpes zoster is not the same disease as herpes simplex, despite the name similarity; both the varicella zoster virus and herpes simplex virus belong to the same viral subfamily Alphaherpesvirinae.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herpes_zoster

This was the interesting thing I found that people might want to be aware of. I don't know how much you all have studied about vaccines and the damage they can do, but here is an example:

Patients with herpes zoster have had chickenpox or varicella immunization previously.

https://www.clinicalkey.com/topics/dermatology/herpes-zoster.html

Maybe I'm reading that wrong, or interpreting it wrong. Immunization, as in vaccines? What other kind of immunization could there be? I searched a bit and there are varicella and chickenpox vaccines (which we also commonly call immunizations).

http://children.webmd.com/vaccines/chickenpox-varicella-vaccine

I didn't think I was going to be able to find anything to back that up or support it, in fact I saw some results that said you could get shingles if you had chickenpox but didn't mention vaccines or immunization so I slightly change my search terms and saw this result... with the name Marcola attached to it. Look to the headline as the rest is just jumbled together search results:

I was looking around for things that help, natural things when I ran across a page that had another affirmation, and also a description which reminded me of your own:

"While the eruptions were awfully ugly, itchy and caused burning and soreness, it was nothing compare to the horribly pains caused by the viral infection's attack on the nervous system. I became rapidely debilitated by continuous, unbearable stabbing like pains day and night in the area that had erupted. I could barely function anymore: I could hardly do computer work, eat or sleep. I resorted at first to take pain killers which didn't help. I refused to see an MD, dermatologist or neurologist because I have long ago lost confidence in these practitioners and their nasty drugs."

More pain descriptions followed, but here is the affirmation:

"A newly published study from the US Centers for Disease Control is further formal confirmation chickenpox vaccine damages natural immunity and causes the more serious highly painful potentially fatal condition of shingles: The incidence and clinical characteristics of herpes zoster among children and adolescents after implementation of varicella vaccination. It is long and well known in numerous studies that shingles cases and deaths in adults and the elderly will increase as natural immunity wanes as a result of the chickenpox vaccine. It is however perplexing that the US CDC study authors declare themselves mystified by the increase in teenage shingles cases shown by their study. Shingles is a serious painful condition in adults which causes death in some cases. Chickenpox is normally a mild disease in children which most children used to contract and gain natural immunity from. Natural childhood diseases are known to prime childrens' immune systems for future disease immunity."

Huh. I guess those came from separate posts on the subject. The page is sectioned by different articles, books, and descriptions, it looks like now that I'm inspecting it a little more closely.

I'm really tired and probably shouldn't even be trying to look this stuff up right now.

I was looking for natural remedies that help with it. So far, have got Capsaicin Cream, which is said to help with the pain. Spend thrift I am, I'd be trying to make my own with cayenne powder and lotion, also, it was advised to use plastic or rubber gloves to apply it and make sure you don't get any near your eyes.

I saw B vitamins recommended and one site said to ask your doctor for b12 injections.

Several said anti-depression medicine. It could only be because that pain and misery takes you down! But even that anti-depression medicine can take you down, so it's a toss up I would think.

One page mentioned licorice and specifically licorice gel. It sounds soothing, though I couldn't say.

I didn't see ginger root anywhere, though I know it is great for inflammation. I sometimes peel and grate ginger and take it by the heaping tablespoon, internally, and it works wonders for inflammation, though swallowing it that way is very difficult (I chase it down with lots of water). I think applied in/as a poultice would be very soothing and help with the inflammation.

This place recommended a change of diet:

Getting rid of shingles naturally starts with a healthy diet according to HealthGuidance, who suggests eating a diet that rich in fresh fruits and vegetables and free of processed sugar and high-fat foods. Foods rich in vitamin C like citrus fruit, strawberries, bell peppers, Brussels sprouts, guava and tomatoes, as well as foods rich in vitamin E like almonds, hazelnuts, avocados, papayas and dark, leafy greens like spinach, Swiss chard, kale and broccoli may also help shingles according to HealthGuidance.

HealthGuidance... sounds so commercially. I don't like the sound of commercially.

Just ran into this one. It says to make the and has other things mentioned, like the licorice ointment (ointment/gel):

I'll just copy and paste this one and will post the links to the others:

How to Cure Shingles Herbally

1. Begin taking lemon balm (see Resources). Lemon balm is used as an herbal remedy for viral infections such as shingles. You can take it as a supplement by taking three capsules with each meal. Do this as soon as you notice the shingles.

2. Grind up some red pepper or buy it in powdered form. Add it to your skin cream and wipe over your shingles. The red pepper is used to stop the pain of the shingles and help it heal much quicker.

3. Purchase a Licorice ointment. Apply this ointment to your shingles, and within 3 days your shingles will be either gone or almost gone. Licorice is highly antiviral and a good choice for a quick cure.

4. Buy a bunch of canned pears. Eat half a can at every meal and drink the juice from the can. Pears have antiviral properties. They can boost the other herbs to cure your shingles faster and in a natural way.

Great to know about pears. I haven't seen raw garlic anywhere though it is antiviral.

This one mentions St John's wort. St John's wort would be better to take for depression, imo. Just the loose tea (and use a tea infuser) to drink that will help with depression or a St John's Wort supplement which might be a bit stronger and more effective.

It also mentions lemon balm.

I just want to follow up on this topic by saying that the person who posted about having this Zoster disease, who had been a regular active poster at that yahoo group from the time I subscribed to the group (a couple years or so) ... never returned after that post (in the op). I don't know what became of her. Her username was Luciana. I hope she is in peace and comfort, wherever she is.
