LOS ALAMOS, New Mexico — Researchers at Los Alamos National Laboratory’s biggest magnet facility today met the grand challenge of producing magnetic fields in excess of 100 tesla while conducting six different experiments. The hundred-tesla level is roughly equivalent to 2 million times Earth’s magnetic field. This was a paragraph taken from this web site http://www.magnet.fsu.edu/mediacenter/news/pressreleases/2012/100tshot.html I am still trying to phantom 2 million times earth magnetic field . my question is why don't we just squeeze this down a hair and make a backup magnetic field for the earth incase the original crashes. |
