See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. The three monkeys are Mizaru, covering his eyes, who sees no evil; Kikazaru, covering his ears, who hears no evil; and Iwazaru, covering his mouth, who speaks no evil. The three monkeys of letting evil take place all around you while doing nothing about it originated with the ancient Tibetan deity Vajrakilaya. Perhaps this six-armed monster is what truly incarnates in the Dalai Lama? The tradition of placing the three monkeys in one's workplace or home is to signify to the reptiles that the humans there will bow to them and let them get away with murder in order to save themselves, or so they think. ![]() |
