The tornado warning sirens started going off here around 11:00 a.m. We had severe storms with very strong winds. The storms have passed now. This is crazy, thunderstorms in January. Thankfully, my place had no damage.

Storm leaves thousands without power in Louisville area; no injuries, deaths reported

1:52 PM, Jan. 17, 2012

A strong January storm blew through the Louisville area Tuesday morning, provoking tornado warnings, leaving thousands without power and blowing over trees and some vehicles in eastern Jefferson County, according to officials.

But no injuries or deaths have been reported.

The storm left five Jefferson County public schools without power-- Norton, Semple, Rutherford and Dunn elementary schools, along with Carrithers middle school, said district spokeswoman Lauren Roberts. Farmer and Wheeler elementary schools and Ramsey Middle School do not have phone service.

Rutherford Elementary School was without power before the storm and has been restored.

Highway 22 in northeast Jefferson County had multiple trees across the road. And several vehicles appeared blown over by the strong winds.

Roberts said parents are not being asked to pick up children early. Most are fed, and light from windows is sufficient to allow lessons to continue, she said.

"We'll continue to have a normal rest of the day. The kids are safe and we'll have a normal dismissal," she said.

There were no immediate reports of damage at the schools, she said.

About 14,000 Louisville Gas & Electric Co. customers in Louisville were without power, according to the utility.

The Brownboro Road corridor took the brunt of the storm in Jefferson County, with electrical lines, some trees down and a couple of transformer fires, said Jody Johnson, a spokeswoman for MetroSafe.

Power lines were reported down throughout the city. No information was immediately available regarding possible injuries from the accident on the Snyder, near Brownsboro Road, or from the downed tree, Johnson said.

Tornado warnings were issued during the morning for counties throughout Southern Indiana and north-central Kentucky, though most had expired by noon.
Clarksville, Ind., has businesses hit

In Clarksville, Ind., cars and buildings were damaged by the storm that passed through about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday. Two large air-conditioning units were blown from the roof of the Phantom Fireworks store on Veterans’ Parkway near Interstate 65. The storm also blew over a fence surrounding the store.

I was watching a show just last night on tv about "Secrets in America" and it was about monuments, but more than statues, like the goldengate bridge, etc. One of them was the arch in St Louis or wherever it is. I didn't know this, but you can go up in it to the top and look out. But it is the only monument that has -security- going day and night, as in "extra" type. It has an elevator shaft to get people up and down of some sort. But the weird thing was some weather guy saying that a lot of times storms split and go around the town and -reconverge- back on the other side of town and keep on going! Immediately this rung a bell. So it means to me this arch functions as a frequency antenna they are using probably in a harp-like way. Interesting, no?

Another interesting factoid was in the Washington monument elevator (among other goodies they talked about) was a winged disc (cobra on ea side) with a 6 pointed star in the middle (no not Star of David). Thought that was really something to note. But there was an inscription to God on the top facing the east that I liked.

Sorry Petunia, didn't mean to sound crude, I get excited about things sometimes. I hope you and yours are aok. You know news just doesn't travel out from areas anymore with the same level of truth like they used to. Somehow facts get squashed a lot along the way and events downplayed. But if a hurricane strikes anywhere you WILL see the newsguy showing how well he can stand up against the wind. Sigh.

I will be glad will all this "changeover" changing stuff is over with all over this planet and that good prevails. People want the good.
