Ronald,

You are sounding like Benny *REP* Hinn. Think again man, we can pray for the
return of Christ, but *why* the actual material ground of Israel .. it's a spiritual disaster zone man.

Best regards

If anyone wants to better know the source of this thread, check this out:

http://www.batteredsheep.com/armstrongism.html

"The original Worldwide Church of God, founded by Herbert W. Armstrong no longer exists. It can't exist because the founder deceased at the age of about 93 or thereabouts in 1986. The Worldwide Church of God that now exists is under different leadership and espousing very different teachings from that of the original WWC.

"It is astonishing that many still bow at the feet of the deceased Herbert W. Armstrong as if he were God himself.

"Herbert W. Armstrong still has many followers, including splinter or offshoot groups who believe they are the "true church of God" on earth. From what I have read there are literally hundreds of splinter groups of the Worldwide Church of God, and since it was a church organization that spread out over the world into many countries, there have been many splinter groups formed."

My personal experience:

In the 70's I actually slipped into a minister's conference in Tucson, AZ (Civic Center) and saw the old fart Herbert W. Armstrong (Worldwide Church of God--Saturday sabbath keepers) ranting and raving, pounding his fist demanding that everyone must send all their tithes directly to him or face damnation and excommunication. Heard it from the horse's mouth! His nasty, greedy disposition was deplorable. There had been some upheaval in his WCC kingdom and it appeared to be falling apart--he was losing his financial support. I got past his watch dog thugs at the door by telling them I had to deliver lunch to my husband--no lie, lunch was in hand. (Yes he had managed to sneak in ahead of me, as a "minister".)

In the old days my husband and I used to follow cults and even attended (also sneaked in--in Tucson Civic Center) a Maharaji (spelling?) event -- the boy "god" who sat on a throne with his bare feet on a pillow and all his followers wore white robes. Everyone in the auditorium was swooning in unison like wheat wafting in the wind, when he graciously appeared. That is, except my husband and me. Real creepy, consequently we were stared down by those in charge and around us so we got out of there real fast. That event was so much more exciting than seeing his dry, boring old highness Armstrong.

(Our hobby was cult watching/investigation.)
