One of Indonesia’s most active volcanos has spewed lava down the slopes of Mount Karangetang, and local authorities are still trying to evacuate residents, reports the Canadian Press. The volcano is located on the Sulawesi island chain, on Siau. Professor John Sweeney of NUI Maynooth, told TheJournal.ie that the volcano was not caused by the earthquake in Japan. “They are both on the Pacific Ring of Fire,” he said “but they are not linked other than that”. The volcano last erupted in August of last year, killing four people. |

After reading that I realized I had the subject of the topic title wrong. I pieced together this whole thread including the title and subject line out of a thread at DI and I just now realized it said "4 earthquakes" instead of saying '4 volcanoes' like it should have said. haha. So, I edited and fixed it. It had come from a posters comments. Edited by yass, Mar 12 2011, 08:27 PM.
