Update: The bill has broad bipartisan support on the committee, including that of Utah Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch. Thirteen of the 16 committee members are co-sponsors, giving the bill a strong chance of passing if it comes up for a vote. It was scheduled to come up for consideration Thursday,. but the chairman postponed it as the Senate prepared to adjourn until after the elections. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/09/29/engineers-slam-internet-censorship-ahead-key-vote/ |

Yeah, there are some sites and downloads I need to save too. But it's a darn shame. This is the closest anyone has to free entertainment besides the tv that is really beneficial for 'we the people'. That is why they want to censor it. No more getting REAL news, or someone playing back recordings of a condorman lying. You have to admit it has been very educational for the younger generation that grew up with it. And very helpful to the older generation in trying to keep up with all the things that get posted. Kids with nothing to do for hours spend it here. They find friends and things to get involved in. But like Wathap2u says, there is the downside of porn and chickenhawks; not to mention id theft. Lets see, if they restrict, that will mean no real news, no up-to-date stuff from across the country on events they don't publicize or don't promote accurately; Youtube will probably be the first to go. All sites talking about the gov, warfare and personal politics will go. Any site that reveals certain types of facts will go, like maybe SOHO or some such. Goog maps will probably never update their pics again and have yet more 'unexplained blanks'. Many adults will become isolated again (biggie in overcoming the human psyche) and revert to lesser means of solace and depression. Many kids will become involved in other interests to use up their free time. With the crappy frequencies they have been sending out there, their minds have a high likelyhood of cultivating negative opinions about many good things in life. And those on the edge will go into violence and crime due to peer pressure and the economy. The rich will create more www's for their own use to keep much out of the public arena, like many businesses and ORGANIZATIONS already have.... When B said "the internets" I don't think he was joking at all. In short, the electrical version of the 1600 book burning bonanza. SO. Just in case all this crap gets passed....anyone know of a GOOD free program that can download whole websites or large chunks? |

I got a flash drive and have saved some pictures but I'm at a loss as to how to save text information. I don't know if I should use notepad, wordpad, works, word, or sfwriter (and download it onto flash drive too) or what. I need to figure it out here soon though. If anyone has any best ideas please feel free to share them. |
