Healthy Eating: Now it is a Mental Illness The Guardian has an interesting post on the Healthy Eating Disorder. Yes, eating healthy is now a disorder. Ok, it may be true. I do know some people who obsess over eating certain foods and supplements to the point that they feel they will live twice as long as those who do not. Yes they get crazy about healthy eating. I personally plan on living forever. So far so good. Where does that leave everyone else who are just trying to do the right thing. Why do we as a society call it junk food? Why do unwanted things end up in the junk yard. Why do we throw away junk but eat junk food. Now the answer is obvious. Unless you eat junk, you may be suffering from a mental illness. Ooops, did I say that out loud. And there is a sound scientific basis for thinking this way. Consider: a Hostes Twinke has enough preservatives in it to have a shelf life of 7 years, I always thought that if you eat enough you could be preserved alive even if you die. Good health to you. |

Yes it is a 'mental' illness in a sense...you cant turn on a television , read a magazine or go online without someone spewing out a whole load of information about eating 'right' [a matter of perspective] , exercising and following the mindset of Johnny6pack and Debbiediet [those infomercials are hilarious!!] ...then it's the whole low-fat , no fat , salt reduced products shelf to shelf anywhere you go to shop...hey! I dont have a problem with people living the way they want but it doesnt give them the right to dictate how others should live...including the way they eat or what they eat , drink or based on how much or how little exercise they do...all our paths are individual...whats amusing in these cases of Johnny6pack or Debbiediet is they die early to things like cancer and heart disease exactly what they spent their whole lives trying to avoid... Now I'm off to grab a burger. |
