That is extremely interesting robin. I don't know how you do it but I'm glad you do! Where did you get that cut from? (Not that you would remember at this late date, but... in case you might). Edit - I realize now, robin, that this was among your first filtering jobs and what gave you encouragement to carry on. I traveled the link in the post... and posted in it, about the human mutant ninja turtles after I saw your post. I understand now, I do :-) Edited by yass, Feb 24 2011, 11:53 PM.

This is what I came to look for. I ran into an image of Loki and it reminded me of this particular filter. It's written as if this occurred in the past, and yet it has not yet manifested, eh? (i.e. it's not the end of the world yet, and so he has yet to be killed at Ragnarök) Perhaps, it's all about coming full circle. The entity in the filter looks to have his hands restrained in shackles of some sort, it was one of the first things I observed in the filtered image (arm to the right up, wrists shackled, I didn't outline what looked like the cuff/shackle with sort of a square cross extending from it), and how strikingly similar it is to the image in this Loki stone! ![]() Loki stone Loki was a viking devil-god. He looks a bit of a mischief maker as well as being a shape shifter: he could appear as different creatures and different gender according to the needs of the situation. Depictions of him are not common. This is the only one in England (though he may be depicted on the Gosforth Cross, also in Cumbria) and one of only two in Europe. The other is in Moesgård Museum, Aarhus, Denmark. Loki was Odin's foster brother. Here he is in chains because his trouble making had to led to the death of Odin's son. (The 'rope' binding Loki was made from the entrails of his son.) Loki was of good Viking stock: his parents were the giants Fárbauti and Laufey. However even with good parents children can go wrong and such was the case with Loki. He survived the scene shown on the stone only to be killed at Ragnarök: the battle at the end of the world. http://www.flickr.com/photos/75827322@N00/4494489650/ |
