Make-up artist Sammy is hired by Dream (Yan Ni) as the director of a cosmetic company with Claire (Cecilia Cheung) being the only colleague who is willing to assist him. Sammy invites Ron, a fellow makeup artiste cum woman magnet to join him. Though Ron might appear to be a woman’s magnet, his heart still lingers with his first love Mona, a frustrated writer. On the screen, he's gentle, sensitive new age man, but behind it, he's just another typical/ordinary grubby guy. Lady Luck has laid her charm on him when Dream (Yan Ni), the girlfriend of an oil baron, hires him as the Executive Director of her all-female cosmetic company, luring him with a hefty salary package. As he steps into the conference room on his first day, Sammy begins to regret taking up the offer. His female subordinates each have their emotional and psychological issues, which make working with them extremely difficult. Among them all, only Claire (Cecilia Cheung), a long term temporarily worker in various departments, is willing to be his assistant. The company decides to set up counters in high-end department stores to enhance brand image. Sammy invites his buddy Ron (Donnie Yen), who also appears to be a make-up artist in the neighborhood shopping mall, to join the company. Ron sure has a way with women, and his commission is even higher than those senior executives. Though he may appear as the girl-magnet, his heart is still lingers with his first girlfriend Mona (Carina Lau). The woman is a frustrated writer, for every creation she will fall in love, and then ends it when she finished writing. Whenever she goes through a breakup, she will keep returning to Ron. From Ron, Sammy learns ways to handle women, and the pair end up becoming relationship therapists for the female counterparts instead. Sammy even fosters Dream her long-lost passion and love for her boyfriend Ken (Raymond Wong). The latter notices the transition in Dream and mistaken that she is having a love affair with Sammy. A minor incident in the new product commercial ties the friendship among Sammy, Ron and the yacht billionaire Syd (Chapman To). Syd meets Claire and would like to go after her. During a business meeting, Claire is insulted by the client, who happened to be Syd's ex-girlfriend Victoria (Lynn) Sammy comes to Claire's defense and promises to make her a billionaire bride. Sammy thus becomes the love consigliore for Syd and Claire. While going to Japan on a cosmetic research trip which Syd secretly tags along, Claire got drunk one night and offended a rogue. Luckily Sammy came to her rescue. Still unable to claim her full conscience back because of the alcohol, Claire thought that the masculine side of Sammy os simply an illusion. Whereas Sammy understands Claire desperately needs a man's protection underneath her tough looks. Sammy does the make-up for Claire before she goes on a date with Syd. Claire cannot help herself when suddenly recalls her rough times in childhood. While Sammy wiping tears for her, both for them sense something for each other. Back to Hong Kong, Claire is distressed that she may fall for Sammy, who appears not to be interested in opposite sex. She opens up to him, however the latter choose to avoid deliberately.
