Customizing; dumbarse idea of the day

Hey guys, it’s been a while since I’ve posted a dumbarse idea here, so here is something I’ve been thinking about.

So, you know how certain cards are guaranteed to destroy other certain cards and there’s just no way around it unless there’s a move card of your element that allows otherwise? Well, I was thinking that MAYBE for a certain price you could customize one of your cards. Some cards like Amphi and Bruhathkayo don’t need anymore of a boost, but other cards could use a little more of a push than what they’ve been given. Maybe you could customize 1 individual card (per payment) in 1 of 4 aspects. The 4 customizable aspects are:

HP; Customizing Hp would allow you to have a creature card with above average HP. Of course there’d have to be a limit as to how much you could boost this up and it must be reasonable. Boosting Pikaia up to 40 Hp probably wouldn’t fly, but giving a Dodo 30 hp might. The creator of the card would be able to determine whether your request can be done or cannot. There should also be a limit that cards with an average base hp of 150 or more cannot get customized in this aspect. The creator of the card can give the price for customizing the hp to that much.

Ability: Customizing an ability would allow a card to use an ability it normally doesn’t know in exchange for losing its current ability. Attacks cannot be replaced by abilities. Also, the request must make sense in some way or form. Phosphatodraco might be able to learn Hermaglers Light Flash ability and Hermagler might be able to learn Phosphato’s Illumination ability, but Megapnosaurus probably wouldn’t learn Stegosaurus’s Intimidating Plates ability. The creator of the card will say if he thinks that a certain ability would go with a certain card and will name its price. Some abilities should however be more exclusive(if not Signature), such as Emperor of the Skies, Thundering Song, and Precursor Illusion to name a few.

Attack; Customizing attack allows a card to replace its current attack with one it normally doesn’t know. Like abilities, attacks cannot replace abilities and must make sense in some way or form. Baryonyx isn’t going to learn Steamroller, but it might learn Bone Crusher or Heavy Tackle. Some attacks should also remain more exclusive, such as Meander. The creator deems whether the change is reasonable and will name his price.

Attribute: The most costly of changes, a card can become double attribute or even replace its attribute, similar to the pokemon tcg delta species. This change must also make sense. Masaikasaurus didn’t live in a desert or had heavy armor so it should never be a ground type, but it was a predator so it might pass off for a fire or partially fire attribute. The creator deems whether the change is reasonable and will name his price.

Also maybe you could customize your card to have a different picture (of the same species though)or maybe even nickname your card, but that isn’t very important right now. Most of you are probably thinking of how much of a pain the customization process will be and that making normal card is responsibility enough as it is. If the card makers agree to allow card customization, I would gladly take responsibility of the actual customizing and whomever made the original uncostumized card will receive the payment. That way we can have customized cards and the card makers will still have time to make new cards. I just thought of this because maybe a card can be improved a bit, without every individual card changing. It would also allow more diversity among cards and make some rarer among non card maker users. Also, it might lessen inflation amongst shop keepers as a customization of one’s own card would result in the money leaving the flow and most card makers don’t need to buy much of other memmbers’s cards. So, what do you guys think?

As you pointed out, we're going to be thinking it's too much of a hassle.

Even if we add another staff member just to handle it, which I can guarantee you with 99% certainty we won't, that still leaves the hell that would be keeping track of it all. In a video game, upgrading a gun to give it more power, or less kick, or a higher capacity, or quicker reload time, is a great idea. In a card game, though, it is entirely too much hassle. In a video game of a card game, following the same spirit of its predecessor, it won't happen.

It also goes against the point of card games. If we wanted improvable 'cards', then we wouldn't have cards at all, we'd just have Poke'mon with dinosaurs *COUGHCOUGHHINTHINTOHGODI'MSOLONELYONTHERECOUGH* instead, with levels & such. The point of cards, or at least one of them, is that they don't improve, unless
A) They're updated, in which case it's site-wide
B) The way the game works is updated, in which case it's site-wide
C) The situation caused by another card improves it, in which case it lasts just for the battle, or maybe even just the turn

It's rather like the 'real time battles' idea a while back. Though a cool concept that would work wonders elsewhere, it is simply too unlike a card game to implement to, well, a card game.

Yeah. And adding another staff member would disturb the balance of things, if anything it should be more like having a secretary or a house maid, an employee of sorts. Keeping track of it would be a big problem huh? I hadn't thought of how you'd do that XD. Alright, thanks :)

It's hardly the same as your suggestion, but I actually do have something that could be considered an "upgrade" in the works for sometime.

Definitely an official card maker... Trust me, I am...
Yeah. I have to agree with Clocky. It's an interesting idea, but it just won't work.
