Slowly, carefully, Louis picked himself up. Another day. What a stupid life he was currently living. Although that wasn't entirely true. He had only been living this life for a few days. And he wasn't Louis right now. He was Anthony. There was a perfectly fine reason for this. But the past few days HAD been slow. Busy, and boring. Working all day in a real job, trying to stall the second encounter with that man. What an annoying power magic was. Part of the reason waking up was so annoying. Aftershocks of magic were still tingling through him. Beginning his daily routine, he stepped into the endless green that was his current lawn, and summoned up an orb of the same dark magic his foe had used. He would only have it for a while longer. But that was fine. Magic was a coward's way out. The only reason he was using it was to hit himself with it repeatedly, to develop a resistance to magic. After all, from his Earth, there was a prevailing theory that if a bone was broken, it would grow back stronger. Thus, getting hit with magic would make magic more tolerable. He was fairly resistant to flames now, so ti did have some weight. The biggest annoyance in his life right now, however, was the fact that he had no weapons besides his combat knife, and his fists. And powerful enough as he was with them, some greater weaponry for the upcoming encounter would be terrific. A heavy sigh and a few hits later, he was ready to get into town. Obviously, there wasn't any point in searching for tech to make new guns, as this civilization was nowhere near as advanced as his home was. Bustling and chatting, the people around him were like cicadas in the fall. Loud and impossible to prevent. Their words floated around and sank, making no sense, even in the ears of a man trained to listen. The words just were. Floating and haunting like ghosts, until they ran out of time. A fitting death for the useless words. A sharp glare caught his eye, and he was sure it was Noctis back already. But on looking, he saw it was just a mirror, reflecting sunlight. His image now blocked out the sun, and he took a good look at himself for the first time in a few days. The differences between then and now were slight, but enough to claim he was someone else non-related. He definitely didn't know who this 'Louis' guy was. His eyes were green, apparently rare for this Earth. Most people with green eyes were apparently killed in a war. His hair had darkened, and was now shorter then it had been before. His jawline was slightly narrower, an even bigger saving grace, as it was just enough to make a difference. He also looked a bit younger. According to records, he had been 20. But it was more like 20-ish. He looked more like older 20s then. Now, he looked in his younger 20s. The burning of the facial hair didn't help any. |
