Welcome to Europeia!
So what the heck is Europeia anyways? Europeia is a region of NationStates that follows the principles of republicanism, meaning the officials of Europeia are elected by the people, of the people, and usually for the people.
Can I join? Of course. Of course. All you have to do is register an account. Validate said account (it should send an email to the email address you have provided, if it did not pester us about it here). Your account in the beginning will automatically be placed in the non-citizen usergroup. You can change that by applying for citizenship. The application, for security purposes, usually takes a few days to be processed by our forum administrators. But once that is done you can see it all and do it all as a full citizen of Europeia .
So, I came here representing another region? I do not want to become a citizen. Where should I go? First you have to register an account. Then you have to validate said account (it should send an email to the email address you have provided, if it did not pester us about it here). Your account in the beginning will automatically be placed in the Non-Citizen Usergroup. Then you can apply for diplomatic masking.
What offices are there for people to be elected into? Well, first of all there are three Branches of Government. There is the Executive, the Legislature, and the Judiciary. The Executive is responsible for the day-to-day governance, the Legislative writes and manages the laws of Europeia, and the Judiciary has the Power to review laws to see if they comply with our Constitution as well as hear trials against accused citizens. The Executive is made up of the President, the Vice President and their Cabinet. The President and the Vice President are elected together every 70 days. They then nominate other citizens to fill the Cabinet Posts. Those nominated are then confirmed by the Senate. For more on the Executive click here. The Legislative is made up of the Senate and the Citizens' Assembly. The Senate is made up of a minimum of five citizens who are elected into office every 70 days, exactly 35 after the presidential elections. The Senate writes or repeals laws, confirms Ministers and Judges and can remove any elected official. The Citizens' Assembly writes pre-Legislation, which is then passed on to the Senate for approval. Members of the Assembly are not elected. Instead every citizen is automatically a Member. For more on the Legislature click here. The Judiciary is made up of the High Court, which answers legal questions and hears criminal and civil cases, looking to the laws of the Republic, both statutory and common, to render judgment. It is made up of the Chief Justice and three Associate Justices. The Justices serve for a 120-day term. Instead of being elected, they are nominated by the President and then confirmed by the Senate. For more on the Judiciary click here.
What is there for me to do in Europeia? If the game of high politics is not your cup of tea you can always just hang around doing fun things. Or if you want to put some work in, there is always the Civil Service, the Navy, and the Citizens' Assembly. As citizen, you can join the Civil Service (or CSO). The CSO assigns its Members (called Assistant Ministers or AMs) to the different Ministries to help out the Ministers. As AM you can do many things and garner great accolades. Most of the great politicians of Europeia started in the CSO. Once you become a citizen, you can also sign up to become a Sailor in our Navy, going out on raids, defending Europeia, or helping our allies defend themselves. Or, if reading and creating Law is more your speed, you can always join the Citizens' Assembly. If all of that did not sound like enough fun we have Spam Games, reasoned and less reasoned debate, Newspapers, Roleplays, and so much more.
That answers most of my immediate questions. What if I have any more? You could always check the Newcomer's Handbook to see if the answer to your question is there. It may even be in the FAQ (or Frequently Asked Questions). If neither answer your question, you can ask our admins here.

During the last Presidential election, us voters compared and contrasted the candidates' plans for the Ministries, as well as how many babies they kissed. The final baby count had Writinglegend ahead of McEntire by a longshot (turns out not too many babies were fond of kissing a Jon Hunstman lookalike), so he was swept into the Goldenblock. Now that his term is nearing the halfway point, let's examine one of his more overlooked platform ideas, the splitting of Interior into Regional Recruitment and Citizen Integration.
First off, let's examine what the job of each Ministry is. Regional Recruitment, according to the application to join the Ministry, “consists of Manual Recruitment and Telegram Drafting and Research. The overall work of the ministry consists of bringing new nations to the region via manual recruitment.” Citizen Integration, meanwhile, according to its application, “consists of the Newcomer Handbook, Gameside Handbook and Patron Program.”
To get further information on this issue, we went straight to the man responsible for the split, President Writinglegend. That interview is transcribed below:- Interview
-
Calvin Coolidge: Why did you split Interior initially? Writinglegend: I initially split Interior because I felt a minister couldn't prioritize integration and recruitment. As we know, both are equally deserving of equal and fair activity, and it's safe to say that Interior was definitly overloaded. This was seen with continuous terms of one getting sidelined while the other gets the large amount of work done. For example, my term was mostly focused on Recruitment whilst Mouse's term was more focused on Integration (although recruitment was a portion of a focus in Mouse's term). The idea really came after my term as Interior, and then watching Malashaan get seemingly overloaded with Interior. The problem is we have great ideas and important activities for each respective area, but stuffing them into one ministry wasn't effectively prioritizing them correctly. In order to get the most effective amount of eyes and attention to each of them, I felt a ministry split was needed. Calvin Coolidge: And how would you say this term has gone in these areas after the split? Writinglegend: I feel the term has gone good on the side of Citizen Integration, but on Regional Recruitment we have had the trouble of getting people wanting to manually recruit. However, I am confident that that will change in the second-half of this term, as we just had a handful of newer people apply for the ministry, and I have been helping some along on how to manually recruit. Overall, though, both have made decent progress and the split has given effective attention to some ideas and programs that didn't have that much in the regular Interior ministry. Calvin Coolidge: Where do you see these Ministries after you leave office? Do you think the next President will keep this split in place? Writinglegend: I feel whether the split continues is the prerogative of the person running who wins the Presidency. Whoever wins, I do hope they continue the split to continue the increased attention to multiple programs and ideas in both integration and recruitment. I would hate for them to just be stuffed again (too early), and effectively limit one or the other like we have seen in the past. Especially in such a time period where we should focus more on manual recruitment, stuffing them could effectively overshadow the manual recruitment program over all of the other Interior stuff. Even if you give it the priority necessary, then you need to balance that with Integration. Essentially, the split gives the necessary energy and attention to both manual recruitment and integration, and I do hope to see it continue. As a little advertisement, I encourage you all to join Regional Recruitment and work on manual recruitment. It's very simple and you see immediate results that really benefit the region! And, of course, if you don't like manual recruiting, Citizen Integration is a great ministry to join and help out: as a Patron or a general worker-bee. Calvin Coolidge: Thank you for your time, Mr. President. Writinglegend: No problem, Mr. Vice President. Until next time, this is Calvin Coolidge, who just split his pants.

I'm pretty sure that violates every clause in the Geneva Convention.

I do dabble in inter-dimensional rifts as well. Have you tried going to the void? I own real estate there. Oh! Don't do hell though. Without cell coverage (no cells in hell) you need to get a copy of the necronomicon from Cthulu but he wants item A. and to get A you need to trade for B which you get from another guy for C. One large fetch quest. Do you have vegan interdimensional tears?
