Welcome to Europeia!
So what the heck is Europeia anyways?

Can I join?

So, I came here representing another region? I do not want to become a citizen. Where should I go?

What offices are there for people to be elected into?

What is there for me to do in Europeia?

That answers most of my immediate questions. What if I have any more?

Europeia's Influence; How does Europeia Stack Up?

Over time, Europeia has improved at the World Assembly and has become more affluent with it due to the arrival of skilled World Assembly members such as Mousebumples & Environmental Warriors. Furthermore, Europeia had made it a focus to improve at the World Assembly despite the fact that this was not a focus in the early days of Europeia. Europeia has emulated the Game Created Regions when it comes to its focus and growth of its World Assembly clout. The regions which Europeia was initially influenced by and emulated were not titans of the World Assembly at all and this transferred to early Europeia.

For the statistics portion of the article I looked at all the Game Created Regions as well as the major User Created Regions of gameplay. These will also be the regions I will be referencing.

World Assembly Stats
RegionNumber of WAsEndorsementsNations TotalEndorsement Percentage
Europeia20115469776.62
The New Inquisition552923652.72
The Land of Kings and Emperors543429762.96
Albion492339146.94
10,000 Islands38225197965.71
Wintreath1036944566.91
Spiritus574920385.96

Among User Created Regions Europeia ranks very highly. Amongst the regions I chose, it has the second highest endorsement percentage second to only Spiritus whose delegate has a fanatically high endorsement percentage. Generally, I'd say that to have an endorsement rate in the 60s tends to be average while an endorsement rate in the 70s tends to be very good to excellent. 80 is an insanely high number that is rarely if ever reached. It's interesting to note that Albion despite its very high post counts has a very low percentage rate. 10,000 Islands also has a lower endorsement rate than one would expect. However, it makes up for its lower endorsement rate in a variety of ways (the main one I'll get into later).

Besides Spiritus, Europeia is the only large User Created Region with an endorsement rate over 70%. If 10,000 Islands had the same rate we do it would have 292 endorsements rather than 251. This is an extra 40 votes. So here, Europeia ranks up very favourably. Regions who were part of the four realms and Albion which tend to have a similar sort of culture had rates that were the lowest amongst all of the regions I looked up. This demonstrates that culture amongst many gameplay regions of disinterest in the World Assembly and a lack of focus on it. Generally the World Assembly Delegate in these regions is not a position in which people aspire towards. This is something we saw in Europeia for a very long time and why we felt for a while disenfranchised in the World Assembly in addition to the heavy defender focus of the World Assembly (at least that was how it was perceived).

World Assembly Stats: Game Created Regions & Europeia
RegionEndorsement %
Europeia76.62
Osiris81.35
The North Pacific 76.77
Balder74.84
The East Pacific69.66
The South Pacific65.2
The Pacific64.75
Lazarus64.36
The West Pacific56.76
The Rejected Realms39.62

Amongst Game Created Regions, Europeia also fairs very favourably. In this group it has the third best endorsement percentage. It is worth noting however that Osiris currently has a policy of mandatory endorsement, enforced for active World Assembly nations. Prior to this policy change Osiris had an endorsement rate of around 69%. This jumped to 81% in around a week. The West Pacific recently has a delegacy change, so they are also lower than normal and it should be interesting to see how they stack up when Darkesia has had more time in the position. It's not surprising that Lazarus and The Pacific are at the bottom if we discount The Rejected Realms because of its different function and the difficulty in getting endorsements because of the nature of the region. One would expect Lazarus to be much higher on this list.

It wasn't long ago when they had an endorsement percentage of around 62% and also had 123 endorsements. Since the discussion of the war this number has ballooned to 165 endorsements. Hence we're looking at potentially 40 troops moving into the region and despite this large number they still are last amongst similar Game Created Regions, discounting a region that is changing delegacies. I found it interesting that all regions tend to behave the same way with regards to the World Assembly. In my mind, Game Created Regions would have very different dynamics but if all regions had a similar focus on the World Assembly I think we'd see very similar levels of endorsements. Especially with larger user created regions. So in this regard, Europeia is very similar to The North Pacific and Balder in terms of its delegacy.

World Assembly Ratio to Total Nations
RegionPercentage of WAs to Nations
Europeia28.83
The New Inquisition23.31
The Land of Kings and Emperors18.18
Albion12.53
10,000 Islands39.02
Wintreath23.15
Spiritus28.08

I decided not to include Game Created Regions in this category because while it could be interesting in comparing them to each other there isn't as much value in comparing them to Europeia since the scale is very different given their functions in the game. Once again Europeia comes out very favourably with the second highest percentage of WAs to total nations, even beating out the very World Assembly active Spiritus. However, everyone pales compared to 10,000 Islands which despite its size has a massive amount of World Assembly nations as a percentage of its whole at 39 percent. This, combined with its larger size allows it to have an advantage over the other User Created Regions.

If Europeia had the same percentage of WAs to Nations and also held the same endorsement percentage it does now, we'd have 271 World Assembly nations. Exactly 70 more than we have currently. Furthermore, we'd also have 207 endorsements. Which would be just over 50 more than we have currently and put us closer in the ballpark with 10,000 Islands. It's also worth noting that The Land of Kings and Emperors and Albion would benefit greatly from a higher percentage. Albion could effectively double its amount of World Assembly nations and still only be in the middle of the pack when it comes to World Assembly Ratio to Total Nations. Now again, that clearly isn't Albions focus.

The question become how do we as a region improve our World Assembly Ratio to Total Nations? How do we improve our world assembly endorsement percentage? The latter is the easiest in my opinion. By having a delegate who is always trying to endorse and telegram people right away, and who is willing to be innovate and active. That is why we have such a high endorsement percentage. But to raise the World Assembly Ratio is something I am unsure of. In Balder, it is my goal to improve that ratio. It is my belief that given that Europeia and Balder have pretty high endorsement percentages that the real gains lie in getting more World Assembly nations.

In Balder recently, we have been gaining World Assembly nations since becoming Delegate. However I am told that this is not an isolated incident and that the Game Created Regions had been on the World Assembly decline in terms of their total World Assembly nations before we started gaining them. So I am unsure if by focusing our welcome telegram on joining the World Assembly if I am improving the total number since it appears to be very dependent on the state of NationStates. But there must be something that separates regions. There must be a reason why 10,000 Islands, despite its great size has such a high ratio of World Assembly nations. Or why Lazarus prior to the war had about 70 more than Balder but Balder had 40 more than Osiris. Or why The North Pacific has more than The Pacific.

So in conclusion, there are many ways to look at the world assembly and the amount of endorsements delegates have. There are many ways to look for improvement. Primarily through increasing the amount of nations in total, increasing the amount of world assembly nations to nations and increasing the percentage of world assembly nations. It's a simple formula and one in which not all parts of it are calculated. Europeia has grown a lot. It is a World Assembly power greater than most regions. We have a lot to be proud of when it comes to our standing. Finally, I'd also like to state that I looked more at percentages and comparing them because I feel its a lot more useful to compare regions as if they were on a level playing field and I didn't really see the use in comparing brute numbers because they really don't say how a region is doing and how it can be improved.

I have some ideas for Interior that I'd like to re-implement in the near future that I did when MD was WAD. I suppose I could have done them for myself, but I didn't want to overstep into what wasn't technically my territory.

But 80%! I now have a goal! I'd also love to hit 200 endos, but since we only have about 200 WAs, that seems ... unreasonable. :P

Thanks for the data crunching, Rach. :)

Thanks guys, I realize this article isn't as sexy, exciting or divisive as some other ones but I think it is an important one. I hope to do a more general version for external consumption and it has given me a couple of interesting ideas that I might explore in the future.

Also, I am currently doing another version of this. Is there any regions you guys would like to see on it?

New additions include: Gatesville Inc, NationStates, United Kingdom, Kingdom of Great Britain & Europe.

Maybe do a few well-known RP regions too, and some long-standing isolationists and historical regions (Texas, Wysteria etc).
