Seventh Amendment to the Constitution (2013)
An amendment to clarify referendum law under the Constitution

Short Title

(1) This Act may be cited as the "Seventh Amendment to the Constitution (2013)".

Amendment

(2) The following amendments are hereby made to Constitution V (2012):

Power of Veto and Referendum

LA14. (1) Where a bill passed by the Senate is presented to the President for the People's Assent, he shall declare, according to his discretion, either that he assents thereto, or that he withholds the People's Assent, or that he reserves the bill for the signification of the People's Assent in the form of referendum.

LA14. (2) It shall be lawful for the People to reserve their Assent by referendum on any bill having passed the Senate by presenting a petition to the President, within 7 days of having passed the Senate, with the support of no less than six citizens of Europeia.

LA14. (3) Where the President has withheld the People's Assent to a bill, the Speaker of the Senate may, within seven days, put the question of the People's Assent for that bill to the People through a referendum.

LA14. (4) After a reasonable period of public discussion, a voting period of twenty-four hours shall commence, with a referendum being deemed to have passed if it achieves a simple majority of votes during the voting period.
