| Welcome to Europeia! So what the heck is Europeia anyways? Can I join? So, I came here representing another region? I do not want to become a citizen. Where should I go? What offices are there for people to be elected into? What is there for me to do in Europeia? That answers most of my immediate questions. What if I have any more? |

I am founder of Hos Hostigos, named in honor of H. Beam Piper's "Lord Kalvan of Otherwhen." I have a couple of other nations, but have never felt comfortable with getting involved in regional activities. Some regions I couldn't understand what they were doing. One I joined, but couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do. I've read a bit in Europeia, and want to give it a try. I don't know if I would be involved in regional affairs more than about once a week for now. I'd like to know what languages are spoken in Europeia, particularly official government languages - just English? I'd like to know the religious demographics, either of Europeia's citizen population or its governing officers. I'd like to know which commission or branch is involved in the major governing documents - Constitution, etc. I suppose as I continue reading, I will run across that. ... Yes, I've found the Constitution ("provide basic civil rights to the people") but neither the "Bill of Rights" nor the "Charter of Rights". Could someone point me to them? I'd like to know what personal rights the millions of citizens of Europeia actually are guaranteed. Thanks. |

It seems you are not open to nations that are nazi-themed or have associations with nazi-themed nations or regions? I am disappointed. I have communicated with, read the forums of, and been associated with not only nazi-themed, but also commi-themed, catholic-themed, atheist-themed, oligarchy-themed, dictator-themed, democracy-themed nations and regions. Nationstates could a beautiful world, where we could all live in peace, if we want to. I am not complaining at a region defining its own theme and setting the qualifications for membership. At the same time, and even at the risk of contradiction, I am sorry to see Nationstates dividing up into Us vs. Them on superifical things like names and pictures. I read the thread on a German Reich applying for membership. The nation was judged on the basis of its actually rather innocuous name. It had "Reich" in it. That's paranoid. I've read some really surprising names of nations on Nationstates, and I don't like some of them, but hey, nationstates is meant to be open. One poster said perhaps the name was chosen as a link to a "Great Nation". Nationstates, for me, is a place to experiment - One of my nations is a monarchy, another is a confederation. One is developing a Constitution based on the U.S. constitutions and those that came after it, reforming and expanding them. Why shouldn't another nation be based on the 25 principles of the most famous/infamous nazi party? I think I could do that - One goal of (Nation) is to unite its people and defend our borders against invasion. Another, abolish income except what comes from personal labor. Another, nationalization of trusts. Also, division of profits, extension of old-age welfare, land reform, outlawing child labor. Sure, some things obviously - in my opinion it's obvious - could not be adopted, such as the execution of "usurers and profiteers," at least not in my scheme of things. (But why exclude nazi-themed nations, but not include commi-themed nations as equally deserving of anathema, when commi-themed nations did the same?) Thanks for hearing me out. I think I should not submit my application because of - both my past and probably future associations with various nations and regions of Nationstates; and my personal belief that there is no Ultimate Demon, but that every nation (person behind a nation state) has something of positive worth to offer amid the jumble of negative junk that each of us is encumbered with but either can't see or can't admit. Tally-ho, and much success to the Republic of Europea!!! Peace, Kalvan Other
