| Welcome to Europeia! So what the heck is Europeia anyways? Can I join? So, I came here representing another region? I do not want to become a citizen. Where should I go? What offices are there for people to be elected into? What is there for me to do in Europeia? That answers most of my immediate questions. What if I have any more? |

We don't want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone, and the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way. Greed has poisoned men's souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical; our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery, we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost. The airplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men; cries out for universal brotherhood; for the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world, millions of despairing men, women, and little children, victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people. To those who can hear me, I say, do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish." - The Great Dictator | |

Hey, welcome to Europeia again! I put you in the non-voting member mask, which lets you see and post almost anywhere a citizen can minus a few key areas. Pending the elections ending and the week-long minimum waiting period, you should be a citizen...February 6. |

Why has this application not yet been accepted? He has not to my knowledge done anything to be denied citizenship and has waited for a week. |

*sighs frustratedly* Noto, what is going on right now? You know, those things that always halt citizenship applications? They are pretty tantamount to democracy, if you want a hint. |

Under the current act that is not actually part of the law. It was decided that stopping cit applications during elections was unnecessary remember. It is legal for applications to be delayed on account of elections, but it is in no way necessary, and that is a call to be made by either the Supreme Chancellor or the President. |

The discussion of such issue is here: http://z6.invisionfree.com/Europeia/index....20&st=375&#last I'd like to point out that I am more interested in the legislative questions it brings as opposed to rushing to get my citizenship. As I've stated in the thread, I am in no hurry and am aware of the ramifications that could be caused by continuing the approval of citizenships midst an election cycle.
Thank you! And that's good. Est-ce sue tu parles français? |

In every incarnation of citizenship acts, we've always suspended application approval during elections until voting has ended. If its not in there, someone clearly screwed up, but I have a very hard time believing anyone would have taken that out. We did do away with suspending application approval during by-elections, however. |

It actually isn't in The Citizenship Modernization Act. It was in The Citizenship Act, but as you know, such act was repealed by the former. In any case, I'm more than willing to retract my citizenship application should it be of any controversy.

If that's true and they actually discussed purposely removing it in the Senate, then that was a tragic error. If they overlooked it, then that was a major flaw. Either way, this is just another example of why rushing through legislation this last term caused us to miss something major. You could also argue that the halting of waivers being granted for citizenship 7 before an election or 2 before a by-election establishes the precedent that we won't accept citizenship applications period in those time frames. |
