Welcome to Europeia!
So what the heck is Europeia anyways?

Can I join?

So, I came here representing another region? I do not want to become a citizen. Where should I go?

What offices are there for people to be elected into?

What is there for me to do in Europeia?

That answers most of my immediate questions. What if I have any more?

So, what happens now?

So, you serve the remainder of your two-week sentence, until you are paroled/on probation. Then, if you reoffend, you will serve the full sentence, which will be an additional 10 weeks.

How long do I have? Do I get a parole officer like in RL?

You have, at the most, two weeks. You've already served a few days, so subtract those days from two weeks, and that's your remaining time. When was your first official day served?

And no, unlike RL, you have no parole officer. Just make sure you stay on good behaviour and you should be fine.

I don't know. I always hated parole officers.

One moment please, Justice Cordova I. Justice Anumia accepted the appeal on the grounds presented by the State, and so, would we not be able to appeal the sentence instead of having Jerrymania serve the original sentence?

That's a good question.

This is what the Chief Justice said:

Quote:

The High Court of Europeia accepts the plea bargain on a tentative basis.

To me, "tentative" means his decision could still change later. Furthermore, according to the Court Procedure Revision Act, the final sentencing is always at the discretion of the presiding Justice, regardless of whether there's a plea bargain. So, I see no reason a legal question from the state would affect Jerrymania's appeal.

The Court of Last Appeal has already heard his grounds for appeal, and have rejected them.

That being said, the Chief Justice is, of course, invited to comment here.

I think we're on two completely different wavelengths here, Associate Justice Cordova I. Anumia said that he accepted the appeal of the State, therefore, this case goes to appeal, no?

Indeed. That said, we need a respondent. Perhaps the Chief Justice?

I presume an Admin will release Jerrymania from custody when he has served 14 days, even if this case is still pending.

Because of the suspended portion of the sentence, this appeal would not be rendered moot by the defendant's release.

I am in agreement with that.

If the Chief Justice is willing to be the respondent, we can begin.

I am willing, though for the purposes of the appeal I'd rather be called Oliver Grey than Chief Justice. Just don't want any confusion as to who is presiding over the appeal.

I imagine you and/or your attorney will be called as witnesses (of a kind) in the appeal, however as this is not your appeal, rather the Attorney General's (even if it is about you), the primary posters in the thread will be the Attorney General and Oliver Grey, not you nor your attorney. If neither side calls you as a witness, I intend to allow one submission from you or your attorney to the appeal before the judgement is rendered.
