Welcome to Europeia!
So what the heck is Europeia anyways?

Can I join?

So, I came here representing another region? I do not want to become a citizen. Where should I go?

What offices are there for people to be elected into?

What is there for me to do in Europeia?

That answers most of my immediate questions. What if I have any more?

Writer: Hyanygo

Week starting : FRIDAY 5th AUGUST 2011

Friday

Abbey announces her holiday dates.

In the City Council, Hyanygo attempted to quieten his previous activities in Europeia while Rachel’s move to set in stone procedures gained support from boymekaniko. Boymekaniko also channelled Montesquieu: When the legislative and executive powers are united in the same person, or in the same body of magistrates, there can be no liberty; because apprehensions may arise, lest the same monarch or senate should enact tyrannical laws, to execute them in a tyrannical manner.. Rachel steamrolled ahead in the Mayoral elections. Finally, Fortana applied for membership.

In the Grand Hall Lethen poked fun at Three Eyes in the thread where Europeia has identified themselves as a “[m]oderate [r]aiding [r]egion”. Also, former President Pope Lexus X announced his retirement from NS. The debate on Caninope’s question of about the continuity of government in the case of a Vote of No Confidence continues.

Election season reached its zenith today with Jusduckria and Sopo (with an audio message ) making final statements on Senate and Presidential election day.

In our media centre, Fortana was chastised for his behaviour in the IRC. Fortana also started a debate on the day’s stock market collapse.

To end the day’s update, it was NES’s birthday and we were given a taste of Chef’s chocolate salty balls.

Saturday
Tyler Curone is welcomed by HEM.

In the office of the chancellery, HEM announced that he will be delegating his duties to his Vice Chancellors.

Europeia has a new President and a new Senate.

President Sopo in his inaugural address urges Europeia to take the path less travelled. His partner, HEM, however has to deal with a porn-spam attack that saw the board going offline and the creation of Executive Order 69.Anumia returns briefly to Europeia to help with the clean up.

The Senate dealt with its first order of business : electing the Speaker. With Klatonia on leave of absence, the Senate tread lightly and the newly elected President decides to offer some advice.

In the City Council, Rachel looked on course to win the Mayorship.

Oliver Marlowe's opinion pieces continue to generate healthy debate on its fundamental rethinking of Europeian doctrine.

Finally, Jahkalahka's Accents thread proves to be extremely popular with many voice recordings.

Sunday
Olde Delaware returned, and Stamosian re-introduced himself. Both applied for citizenship.

Criminal charges were brought against Toddler in the High Court.

The Senate choose Oliver to be the next Speaker and the Attorney General and Justice go without a hitch. The Senate however assertively scruntise the Cabinet nominations and in the process enter into a debate about McEntire's nomination. Associate Justice Peaceful Llamas in the Grand Hall came into the debate about Lia Moss-Firen's nomination. ACKJVR didn't hear James' testimony but the nominee was still confirmed by the Senate at-large.

The President's plans to rename the Welfare Ministry to the Integration Ministry ran into problems as the move was seen as offensive and a veto urged. The President then withdrawed his EO and issued a second one but even that ran into legal problems which neccesitated Jusduckria to put a bill (Integration Ministry Act (2011)) before the Senate. An article was written on the tension of the President's plan's execution by Oliver in the ENN.

In the Republic Square, A Magician Named GOB retires from Europeia.

Monday
Henry came back and applied for citizenship.

In the Senate, Oliver produces his draft of the Integration Ministry Act. President Sopo then realised the importance of initialisms in Europeia and changed the name to "Ministry of Citizen Integration". The new Speaker produced a business of the Senate thread and launched the new critic system along with appointing a deputy.

The Grand Hall played host to a debate between Rachel Anumia and Oliver about the Integration Ministry Act.

Ogastein has updated the Naturalization Awards.

And finally in the ENN, Hyanygo wrote a letter to the editor talking about the recent Senate "opposition".

Tuesday
HEM put up a Junior Ministers "check in" in the CSO.

Sopo issued a statement on the spammings.

Swakistek posted a sign up thread for the JTC. Those who want to learn more about Europeian law are encouraged to sign up.

In the Senate, Hyanygo is nominated for Minister of Media.

In the City Council, Blake is the new Deputy Mayor, Unibot will be bringing in General Assembly/Security Council issues and the idea of a City Council newspaper has been brought up.

In our embassy corner, the LKE's Prime Minister has issued a statement regarding the pornographic spamming that took place on Saturday.

The biggest news of the day was Anumia's contributions to the ongoing "Opposition" debate (here, here and here.) Afterwards, Fortana went completely on the opposite direction to Anumia stating his goal is to "restore balance to Europeia, [with] a true opposition group. We will not tolerate gombeen politics or cute hoorism.".

And finally, in the Republic Square, Peaceful Llamas now knows why Americans refuse to pay the taxes necessary to support their social programs, Allied Alliances had the best breakfast ever and PASD wants to know your opinion on the London Riots.

Wednesday
Lethen remarked on the private messaging abilities of users in light of the porn spam attacks.

In the Senate, Hyanygo is confirmed as a Minister, Oliver drafted an Act to empower the Executive branch to seek an improved mandate from the people and the debate over other bills continued.

In the City Council, Rachel opened up a legislative clinic. Rachel also delivered a solution to the Vice-President/Senator duality in the Grand Hall.

And finally, Aftermath published its stance in the "Opposition" debate.

Thursday
Former citizens, Crist Seymour (also known as "Aexnidaral") have regained citizenship along with Henry.

Rachel Anumia has expressed her displeasure at Crist Seymour's citizenship. Also in 34 Goldenblock Avenue, Sopo hosted a "waffle extravaganza".

In the Department of Assembly Affairs, the repeal of the Living Wage Act was put up for voting.

The Citizen Integration Ministry Act (2011) reached a second reading in the Senate.

Mayor Rachel Anumia put the question of a City Council newspaper up for a vote. She also wrote an article in the newly-Indexed EBC about some of the forseeable consequences of the People's Loyal Opposition.

And finally, Stamosian had trouble with her complex integration.
