| Welcome to Europeia! So what the heck is Europeia anyways? Can I join? So, I came here representing another region? I do not want to become a citizen. Where should I go? What offices are there for people to be elected into? What is there for me to do in Europeia? That answers most of my immediate questions. What if I have any more? |

Turning our attention to the Presidential campaign, at this point it seems reasonable to call the April 2010 Elections in favor of Rougiers/Earth22. Rougiers benefited most from the turnover that occurred during the last week of the campaign season - we saw two candidates stand with only days until the polls opened. Rougiers's presence in the campaign for a solid two weeks was probably a deciding factor for citizens who were on the fence up until they cast their vote. I would also have been interested in seeing the NCP choose Swak over Falconias initially - this certainly would have given Swak a different "image" as a Presidential Candidate. Rather than a last second replacement, Swak could have been seen by the region as a departure from the headstrong temperament and the failures of the Falconias Administration. |

You make some good points, PhDre, but please remember that: a) Falconias was elected as our Presidential candidate near the end of the term before he was elected...and at that point, I had only one term of Senate experience and no time in Cabinet at all. I wouldn't have been a great candidate then. b) When we were holding nominations this time around, I thought that it would be fair to give Falconias a chance at getting himself reelected, as he had already won the Presidency. And I didn't win the primaries for the Vice Presidency, because the party believed that my activity and talents could be better utilised as either Chief of Staff or President. I didn't have a great deal of choice, you know...but maybe Europeia will see me again running for President...you never know...:P I do, however, agree that Rougiers and Earth are clearly the victors of this election. |

Certainly I respect the By-Laws of the NCP, which is why I regret to see that they are restrictive enough to dissuade competent Presidential Candidates from standing. Something that I like about being an independent is exactly the great deal of choice afforded to me. But I digress... |

We find that it usually works better to have a single Presidential candidate, because if we have two, nobody would win. But I also digress...:P Where's the manager of this joint? Ain't we supposed to be answering more questions or something? |

I didn't want to break up the exchange. I don't get much back-and-forth between panelists. ![]() Anyway, now that the election is over, I'd like to hear the panelists offer some thoughts and opinions on what this next term shall bring. |

Hehehe... As for the next term, I think that is yet to be seen. Clearly, all of Rougiers' candidates for Cabinet are going to receive Senate confirmation, but it is also clear that there are some who perceive one or more of the nominees as being inexperienced and/or unsuitable... It will be interesting to see how this pans out, particularly as Rougiers and Earth have barely any Cabinet experience. The new President has already issues two Executive Orders so far; one to replace the 'joke EO' from then-President Falconias, and one to amend the Senate Clerk Act. Of course, I'm sure that not a small number of our citizens will be keeping very close tabs on the President and Cabinet in the next term, and will be quick to jump up if something is not going well or could be done differently... I've already picked up an error in the President's second EO, which was promptly rectified, but we have not yet seen much policy implementation, which will be the real indicator of the President's performance. Cambover will also be an interesting pick to watch as Chief of Staff; it is yet to be seen whether he will continue the legacy of activity, committment and dedication left by his two most recent predecessors...:P |

I think the single most important thing I will be looking for this coming term is a sort of mending of fences that have been disturbed over the past few months. Politics in Europeia has taken a turn for the nastiest and personal rivalries have spilled into public pissing matches. I'm hoping that this administration, along with all of our help, can return Europeia into the cordial, respectful, and welcoming region that I joined some seven months ago. |

That sounds a little idealistic and optimistic, Senator Common-Sense Politics, but certainly a statement that I can strongly relate to. |

I really don't think that will happen. Honestly, the divides in Europeia are so large that to mend them in one term would be amazing. I think the most prominent divide is in the Old Guard, and even people who have been playing NS for a while and the newer players. Politics has gotten nasty in recent memory because Falconias was such a controversial figure that he really brought the divides to near breaking points. Looking at how this term will play out. I have no idea. It really is a toss up. Roguiers could be incredible and do a perfect job, or maybe he'll do mediocre, or maybe he'll do so bad that the region will implode. I have no idea, but if his short time as Grand Admiral was any indication, he'll do great. Also, if Rougiers makes a mistake I don't expect such heated controversy. Falc is Falc. If Falc breathed too loudly, he got jumped on. There different people and will be treated differently. |

One thing to remember about his time as Grand Admiral, though, is that he was backed and supported by Falconias in every way...it will be interesting to see how well he can function on his own, especially without a Cabinet-experienced Vice President. |

You did not just say Earthie had no cabinet experience. *ducks at the large objects being thrown at Swak* Did you not read that very long post about all the positions she's ever had. I didn't it was too long, I knew she was qualified but apparently maybe you should read it. Also, she served part of a term here as Foreign Affairs Minister. |

That list of positions...does not quite mean that she has served extensively in Cabinet... And part of a term as Foreign Affairs Minister does not constitute a great deal of experience, OO... But I'm not looking for a smear campaign. I'm merely stating some of the factors at play here. |

Neither does Chief of Staff. Foreign Affairs > Chief of Staff. But that is a mute point, she has experience for sure. The experience is not a factor at play here. |

This has been my favorite EQT, simply because of the back-and-forth. I want to thank you all ![]() Is there anything specific you'd like to see come out of the Senate, or to occur period, this term? |

Indeed. I'd like to see the Senate work to better define how we should detain and apprehend both criminals (such as Aex), and those who commit less serious offenses. I'm of the mindset that if the charge is serious enough, a temporary masking change and post-masking approval by the Chief Justice is more than acceptable. For less serious offenses, limiting posting ability may or may not be necessary - when it is, a Court Order from the Chief Justice (pretty much a warrant) would be sufficient to limit posting. Besides that, I like the work that's been done already to give the Referendum Act more teeth. I think it's a good compromise - to have 2/3 of the citizens be able to force the repeal of an Act. I'm less sure about the proposed time limit to a Referendum, but we'll see. And finally, speaking as the Minister of Interior, I would love to see no Senators miss a single recruiting quota all term. Recruiting is a group effort, one that brings out the best of Europeia and offers it to the world. I know that I'll be doing my part and then some - I expect other Senators to meet my challenge. |
