Welcome to Europeia!
So what the heck is Europeia anyways?

Can I join?

So, I came here representing another region? I do not want to become a citizen. Where should I go?

What offices are there for people to be elected into?

What is there for me to do in Europeia?

That answers most of my immediate questions. What if I have any more?

You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.

The Goldenblock Tribune - Edition #5
A Sitdown with the Delegate

Passing the Torch, an interview with Ervald
written by United Vietussia

With the recent resignation of Aexnidaral Seymour from all offices, it left a vacancy in the all-important Delegate role. After all of his work in the Ministry of World Assembly Affairs, there were few questions when Ervald ascended to fill the void. I recently took the opportunity to sit down and talk with Ervald about his new position and his plans for the role.

You're set to be the Minister of World Assembly Affairs and the WA Delegate simultaneously. How do you think you can use these positions hand in hand to build Europeia's WA status?

Well, most of the duties involving the World Assembly are concentrated in the Ministry of World Assembly Affairs since they're tasked with IFVs, educational material, and representing the region in WALL. As World Assembly Delegate, I would be adding on the duties of being active game side and carrying out the WAAP awards. Overall, being WA Delegate won't significantly impact my role of being Minister of World Assembly Affairs. However, before I was WA Delegate, I had to rely on the WA Delegate as an intermediary for voting on resolutions and gaining approval for WA-related projects. Since I am now the WA Delegate, I can just delve right into it.

You're the first appointed Delegate since the WA reforms back towards the end of 2017. Does this change anything about how you'll do your job?

Before the WA reforms, we had the electoral system of either challenging the WA Delegate for the position or an election occurring because of the WA Delegate resigning. As long as I have been in Europeia, I believe I have witnessed three resignations that followed with three separate elections in the span of three years. Since not many people are willing to directly challenge a sitting WA Delegate that has been there for maybe a year or more, they were not held as accountable as I am now. With the WA reforms, the Senate who are elected by the people gets to question the sitting or newly nominated WA Delegate every 180 days. That can hold me accountable for being active in my position and properly representing Europeia abroad by the Senate rather than waiting to resign or for someone to challenge me like the old system.

What's next for WA affairs in Europeia, and when can we expect to see it in action?

You are seeing it in action right now. As we speak, we are currently working on the new WA 101 which will condense the current subforum of over 20 outdated topics into 7 topics that will be compact and easy for any newcomer to read. I have set the high goal of getting all 7 topics done by the end of this term and I hope to see that to come to fruition by the end of the summer.

If you could change one thing about the current state of WA affairs in Europeia instantly, what would it be and why?

Well, like any WA Delegate, I would like to see more endorsements. As we go through the transition process, it wouldn't be surprising to see a dip in the number of endorsements like any other WA Delegate transition process but I hope in the long run, we can crack past 400. I would also like to see more nations join the World Assembly to endorse the Delegate. I wish for that because the higher the amount of endorsements we have, the stronger the voice we have in the World Assembly and the more noticeable it is by other regions.

Do you see any potential for change regarding WALL in the near future?

I can't say too much since WALL is a collection of like-minded regions with a significant presence in the WA instead of your typical bilateral treaty or regional program but I would say that WALL is always open to the idea of having more qualified regions join the organization. I know the President in his electoral platform mentioned collaborating with other regions regarding the World Assembly so perhaps that could lead to a partnership with a like-minded Independent region that wishes to join WALL someday.

Would you rather fight 20 duck-sized horses or 1 horse-sized duck?

I would rather fight 20 duck-sized horses. If you ever been near a duck at a park, you know those creatures could viciously murder you.

Senate Poll Results
collected and analyzed by United Vietussia

NOTE: The election started sooner than expected, so these results are late. The plan was to release the results hours prior to the election, but we anticipated the election to start closer to noon. We apologize for the late reporting. As such, an analysis did not occur as it was to be completed this morning. We will be instead releasing the results in full for your interpretation. As we go into the future with this paper, we don't aim for this to happen again.

The full results can be found here.

I think it's pretty pathetic to make comments in the privacy of a poll but not be willing to say them publicly. It was fair enough criticism and if the person had raised those concerns in my campaign thread I would have been able to provide an answer but instead they're going to hide behind a poll.

Burdened with Glorious Purpose

I agree they should've said that or something similar in your campaign thread. The anonymity of polls can be icky.

Great interview and a nice poll! Look forward to more, UV!

Remember when I was famous? Neither do I.

Good interview!

Re: the poll comments, I think that people *should* speak their mind openly but I also appreciate how anonymity can free someone up to be more candid and honest. You would think that a comment like the one below would evoke some public complaints too, though.

I think it's pretty ballsy of Punchwood to be so blatantly inactive and express his intentions to resign privately to certain people but then think he has the public goodwill to run for another term. You've done nothing so please sit back down.
