| Welcome to Europeia! So what the heck is Europeia anyways? Can I join? So, I came here representing another region? I do not want to become a citizen. Where should I go? What offices are there for people to be elected into? What is there for me to do in Europeia? That answers most of my immediate questions. What if I have any more? |

![]() Conversation With McEntire Le Libertie: I’m Le Libertie of the Testudine Times, and today I’m interviewing McEntire, a very accomplished member of Europeia who has recently returned. McEntire: That’s generous of you. Thank you, I’m happy to be here. Le Libertie: Could elaborate on the many positions that you have held in Euro? McEntire: I have been Speaker of the Senate three times, Vice President twice, several Cabinet posts and many terms in the Senate, I’ve headed the EBC, unsuccessfully run for President 3 times and been Mayor of the City Council. Le Libertie: It’s clear your service to the region is commendable. A more controversial aspect of your career is the fact that you often come and go from the region sporadically. In fact, this is your sixth citizenship application form. Do you feel that this has affected your reputation in Europeia? McEntire: Yes it has, and rightly so. Le Libertie: In what ways? McEntire: Well, I don’t think people think that I’m dependable, and honestly they’re right. You know, while I was gone I saw that Skizzy posted something along the lines that I had been granted many positions in government because of my potential to do great things, but I hadnt fulfilled that potential. And I think that’s partially right. There are things I’ve done that I’m proud of, but I’m a very mission-driven person, and once I’ve accomplished that mission I tend to lose interest. Le Libertie: That leads to my next question. Despite this, it’s clear that you have still been able to attain a degree of success in Euro that others dream of. Why do you think that you are able to bounce back every time? What do you attribute to your success? McEntire: Well, I think people know what I can do. I have been a successful leader at different times, and I think people know that. I’ve never bounced all the way back, there are a lot of people who don’t trust me, and I understand and accept that. Nothing I can do but own it all, the good and the bad. Le Libertie: Now to the question that many have been wondering: what caused you to leave so suddenly? McEntire: Well, it was actually a trip I was going on. After a particularly stressful stretch at work I decided to take a long trip to “find myself”. And I didn’t know how to explain it to my fellow senators or the region. I was worried people would think I lied to become Speaker. I didn’t lie, I didn’t know I’d be going on this trip at the start of my term. So rather than tell the region, I thought I’d try to stay in the position and just check in while on the trip. Well as time went on, I felt pressure to check in and I had less of an ability to. And I let my own anxiety get to me. So rather than dealing with the fallout, I just left. It was really horrible to do, especially to people who had supported me and helped me and worked with me. And I’m sorry that I did. But I am my own worst enemy, and sometimes I spiral with that anxiety. Le Libertie: And you mentioned that you are a "mission-driven person". Could you elaborate on the mission in Europeia that you felt was accomplished, and your resulting dip in activity? Or was this situation different, where there was no mission accomplished? McEntire: Well, I did have a mission that term, and I really had two of them. First, I wanted to strip Honored Citizens of Senate speaking rights, which I felt was important. And after a VERY protracted battle we were able to do that. But that took a lot out of me. And the other was to convene a Senate select committee on Intelligence for the first time to review some issues that had gone awry. Holding the intelligence community accountable is something I’ve consistently been passionate about. And after the senate accomplished those things, I didn’t know what to do next. And that was just another anxiety, that people would think I was a fraud. I have never felt like a part of the “in-crowd” in Europeia. I have had some good friends here, I’d point to Rach and Aex and DH as three examples. But I have always felt a little like an outcast. And so it was easy to feel lonely or like I didn’t have support. I’m not saying that it was that way, I’m saying that I felt that it was that way. And so it became easier for me to isolate myself. Le Libertie: Still, it's remarkable how accepting Europeians were once you returned again, with a majority of the region's active citizens welcoming you back. Do you have anything to say about that? McEntire: Yes, and people are very gracious, and I am very very thankful for that. That people didn’t hang me out to dry when I got back. Although perhaps this interview will change that. Le Libertie: Do you still see a future where you are back in a high government position? Do you feel you still have enough integrity to do so? McEntire: No, I don’t. I’m not going to do that. You know, I always dreamed of being President, and I think I’d be good at it, but sometimes dreams die and that’s ok too. But with my track record, I don’t know that I can make promises to the people of Europeia. All I want to do is contribute and try and be a part of the community. Write and offer what insight I can when I can. That’s all I’m seeking to do. Although I believe there’s a difference between integrity and credibility. I have always tried to handle every job here with integrity and moral fidelity. I have not done a good job of credibly saying what I can and can’t do, and that’s my mistake. Le Libertie: Well, I believe that after some time you will have the opportunity to pursue your ambitions. Thank you for partcipating in this interview. McEntire: I have no ambition. Thank you for interviewing me. It’s been lovely! |

McEntire, as someone else who has earned a reputation for being unreliable, the only way to fix it is by being reliable. Given the small number of people who are actually involved in the government of Europeia these days, there are plenty of opportunities to try. Welcome back, and I look forward to seeing more of you again.
