Welcome to Europeia!
So what the heck is Europeia anyways?

Can I join?

So, I came here representing another region? I do not want to become a citizen. Where should I go?

What offices are there for people to be elected into?

What is there for me to do in Europeia?

That answers most of my immediate questions. What if I have any more?

Getting Out of an Emotionally Abusive Situation

While I hope that no one here ever has to experience emotional, or any form of, abuse, it is important to know that you can get out of it. Getting out of an emotionally abusive situation isn't always easy. However, with a strong support system and taking the proper steps, you can get out of it.

  • Tell Someone. Depending on the amount of trust you have toward your friends, your interactions can impact how much you tell someone. You may be completely unaware that you're being abused. However, coming forward with behavior towards you to another individual can bring light onto the situation and help you get the help you need. Confiding in your friends will allow them to provide emotional support, resources, and encouragement. Their validation and advice will help you know that you're doing the right thing, and help guide you on what to do next.

  • Report their behavior to an authority figure. With the support and encouragement of your friends, the next step is to report the abuser. Admins or their equivalent are always an option. Reporting what the emotional abuser has done will allow the admins take the appropriate actions. This will not only help you, but also prevent the abuser from harming anyone else.

  • Block them: The third, and most important, step is to remove yourself from contact with your abuser. This can be a very difficult process as an emotional abuser is someone you have a close relationship with. Blocking your emotional abuser is the quickest way to dissolve contact with them. It will prevent them from messaging you again or dissuading you from leaving.

  • Removing yourself from chats, websites, or places you might encounter them. This will also help to prevent them from contacting you again. Having informed the administration, they will have removed your abuser from the current location, but if there are other websites in which you have had contact with the abuser, such as games or social media, it is crucial to remove contact on those platforms as well as they provide an avenue for your abuser to contact you again.

  • Prevent future contact. Making sure the emotional abuser will be unable to contact you again is important. Changing your phone number, email address, and other ways they could contact you will ensure this.

  • Tell an authority.
If the situation is severe enough to the point you fear for your real life safety, contact your local law enforcement. Down below are numbers that you can call if your life is in danger:

    Law Enforcement Numbers
911 in the United States and Canada
    999 in the UK
    112 in the EU
    000 in Australia
    119 in Japan

  • Hotlines. There are a variety of confidential, free resources you can consult to explain your situation. Those who answer will help you to get out of your situation: they are full of advice and guidance.

    SafePlace National Website:
    www.nspnetwork.org

    National Domestic Violence Hotline:
    www.thehotline.org | 1-800-799-7233
    www.thehotline.org/is-this-abuse/abuse-defined/

Everyone’s situation is unique and has a different set of factors. Thus, there will be different solutions. Consult with trusted friends or with the admins to come up with more ways to avoid your abuser and to get their opinion on what may be necessary for you to do.

What is important is that you remove yourself from their influence so you can be safe and begin to recover. It may feel inescapable, but you can and will get out. You can reclaim your life.
