Welcome to Europeia!
So what the heck is Europeia anyways? Europeia is a region of NationStates that follows the principles of republicanism, meaning the officials of Europeia are elected by the people, of the people, and usually for the people.
Can I join? Of course. Of course. All you have to do is register an account. Validate said account (it should send an email to the email address you have provided, if it did not pester us about it here). Your account in the beginning will automatically be placed in the non-citizen usergroup. You can change that by applying for citizenship. The application, for security purposes, usually takes a few days to be processed by our forum administrators. But once that is done you can see it all and do it all as a full citizen of Europeia .
So, I came here representing another region? I do not want to become a citizen. Where should I go? First you have to register an account. Then you have to validate said account (it should send an email to the email address you have provided, if it did not pester us about it here). Your account in the beginning will automatically be placed in the Non-Citizen Usergroup. Then you can apply for diplomatic masking.
What offices are there for people to be elected into? Well, first of all there are three Branches of Government. There is the Executive, the Legislature, and the Judiciary. The Executive is responsible for the day-to-day governance, the Legislative writes and manages the laws of Europeia, and the Judiciary has the Power to review laws to see if they comply with our Constitution as well as hear trials against accused citizens. The Executive is made up of the President, the Vice President and their Cabinet. The President and the Vice President are elected together every 70 days. They then nominate other citizens to fill the Cabinet Posts. Those nominated are then confirmed by the Senate. For more on the Executive click here. The Legislative is made up of the Senate and the Citizens' Assembly. The Senate is made up of a minimum of five citizens who are elected into office every 70 days, exactly 35 after the presidential elections. The Senate writes or repeals laws, confirms Ministers and Judges and can remove any elected official. The Citizens' Assembly writes pre-Legislation, which is then passed on to the Senate for approval. Members of the Assembly are not elected. Instead every citizen is automatically a Member. For more on the Legislature click here. The Judiciary is made up of the High Court, which answers legal questions and hears criminal and civil cases, looking to the laws of the Republic, both statutory and common, to render judgment. It is made up of the Chief Justice and three Associate Justices. The Justices serve for a 120-day term. Instead of being elected, they are nominated by the President and then confirmed by the Senate. For more on the Judiciary click here.
What is there for me to do in Europeia? If the game of high politics is not your cup of tea you can always just hang around doing fun things. Or if you want to put some work in, there is always the Civil Service, the Navy, and the Citizens' Assembly. As citizen, you can join the Civil Service (or CSO). The CSO assigns its Members (called Assistant Ministers or AMs) to the different Ministries to help out the Ministers. As AM you can do many things and garner great accolades. Most of the great politicians of Europeia started in the CSO. Once you become a citizen, you can also sign up to become a Sailor in our Navy, going out on raids, defending Europeia, or helping our allies defend themselves. Or, if reading and creating Law is more your speed, you can always join the Citizens' Assembly. If all of that did not sound like enough fun we have Spam Games, reasoned and less reasoned debate, Newspapers, Roleplays, and so much more.
That answers most of my immediate questions. What if I have any more? You could always check the Newcomer's Handbook to see if the answer to your question is there. It may even be in the FAQ (or Frequently Asked Questions). If neither answer your question, you can ask our admins here.

The Panda's Pen held a poll after posting a link the Grand Hall from June 10th to June 13th, and received 30 responses. Respondents had to use a Google account to respond, and they could edit their responses until the poll officially closed. The Rand/Sopo ticket was only included during the last 24 hours, due to late platform posting. Now here are the results of the poll.

We can see right off the bat that Writinglegend/Deepest House has a commanding lead, but falls just short of claiming victory in the first round. Darcness/Drecq is the next closest behind, but with less than half the support of the leading ticket, this is hardly encouraging. If there's any positives to take away for the other tickets, it's that 13% of respondents still have not made up their mind.
From this point in the poll, depending on which ticket the respondent said they supported, they were taken to a different section. We will work our way down the ballot, in order that the candidates stood.
Darcness Voters

Here we see that the base of Darcness' support is pretty much evenly split between newer and older members, and (more concerning for the ticket), also evenly split on the strength of their support for the ticket. For a ticket that only claims roughly a quarter of the vote as it is, seeing also half say they might change their mind away from the ticket suggests this ticket is less strong than it may appear at first glance.
What Do You Like About This Ticket? - I think Darcness deserves a full term to prove himself. We don't need WL *again*
- Double D on Display
- Their primary competition is Writinglegend/Deepest House, and while I'm sure that Writinglegend will be a great president as he has in the past, I believe that it may be time for other qualified individuals to have a hand in running the region to prevent stagnation and ensure that we have a constant flow of new ideas. Were the ticket flipped to Deepest House/Writinglegend it would almost certainly have my vote.
Writinglegend Voters

Writinglegend's base is formed mostly of newer members, despite own veteran status, the only candidate in the race classified as such. What really sticks out from this data, however, is that Writinglegend's support is incredibly strong, with 80% of his voters, who already make up the largest portion of our sample, saying they are sticking with him. This paints a great picture for his ticket, as Writinglegend seeks a record sixth term in the Goldenblock.
What Do You Like About This Ticket? - The fact that I'm on it.

- WL is one of our most experienced and successful presidents and DH is one of our most capable members.
- Only capable leadership right now.
- It's very heavy on details and both Writinglegend and Deepest House know what they're doing.
- Everything
- Well, the ticket itself. The two most active cabinet members of the term on the same ticket is better than a mediocre president and the barely active AG.
Rand Voters

Rand's base is also made up predominantly of newer members, but with only four respondents voting for him in the poll, that's a difference of three to one. The ticket with the least support also has the least commitment from its supporters, with only half "definitely" voting for this ticket. Rand will have to make up a lot of ground if he wishes to improve enough to beat Darcness and hope to make it to a runoff.
What Do You Like About This Ticket? - It addresses many of the issues I see in the region and seeks to fix them in an attainable fashion.
- I like their EuroWorks plan and their excitement about new ideas.
- They have the best plan. Also, while Rand is annoying, but less so than the others, and Sopo is good.
Undecided Voters

Due to a technical error, one of the undecideds later edited their response, but it still shows up in the graph. Remove one newer member and one Writinglegend supporter for a more accurate picture.
The undecideds are made up mostly of older members, with only one undecided newcomer by the poll's end. All undecideds are united, however, in their decision that Writinglegend is the option they would choose, out of all options. If these numbers hold, Writinglegend will win in the first round, and avoid a runoff.
Why is This a Tough Choice For You? - Because I don't want a CRP president, I want a FEP one. I currently plan on abstaining.
- Both present strong cases with great ideas for the future of our region.
- I'd really love to see what Darcness can do with a full term, but ultimately WL never fails to do well
- Truth be told, none of the three tickets really grab me. While WL has done a lot of great work, I think his platform is weaker than expected and Darc deserves a shot at the full term. On the same note, though, its hard to ignore both WL's track record and DH's rising star status.
Looking at this poll in its entirety, it's clear that the Writinglegend team is in the best shape, with a high likelihood of avoiding a runoff entirely, with the support of most of the respondents. Darcness only need a few more supporters to put him in runoff territory, but his own base is not fully behind him yet. Rand is in the toughest position, with middling support from his own base, and a very small amount of support overall. How will this all shake out? Be sure to follow the poll on June 16th for the final results. Until next time, this is Calvin Coolidge, looking at this graph.

Unfortunately, I think our late inclusion hurt our performance in this poll. I don't think it's representative of our actual support levels. Rand gave a solid performance in the debate last night, and the ideas we're offering are real game changers. I expect to outperform this poll by a mile. #Randpo2017 #Randvolution #Randwagon

shiny stuff
Quotes about me hyanygo- This is spectacular. It is one of the rare moments where the potential of an idea is realised. A geninuely engaging read and a beautiful end product. (On A Mockingbird) Drexlore: Will Snowball be a good CA Chair? Trump: IVANKA! It's great seeing people such as ...Snowball, and ....jump into things, working everyday to improve and get better.- JayDee Three of my kids (Snowball and Pyn <3)...amounted to anything. Drecq - "Vote Snowball because all the other candidates are Russian sleeper agents" Festavo - "Say No to Snow" Vert - A Vote for Snowball is a vote against the establishment and the system. An endorsement of chaos, a cry of anger from voters who are jaded and feel left out from the process. It is in many ways like voting for Trump, but without the racism and stuff, and without a chance that'd he win anything truly significant Im pretty sure snowballs voice will haunt my nightmares-Vert WA Delegate Race I'm with Drecq here. I'll totally back an end to The Republic if the WAD goes to Snowball*-Kylia Quilor Who the fuck is comrade snowball?-Jahka I don't think any of that really has to do with the Delegate's office. But sure.-Rand Oh dear God. An actual experienced candidate has been over taken by someone with no experience whatsoever and could possibly end up in a run-off with two experienced candidates or could beat yet another experienced candidate and face a one on one runoff.-Punchwood You could call it a snowball effect -GraVandius |

er...my poll doesn't show that Well, your poll was not done post-debate. Additionally, Sopo was speaking a bit tongue-in-cheek and being supportive of his chances
