Ashanti's Identity Stolen
Posted: 05/23/2007

The identities of R&B star Ashanti and actress Nia Long were stolen in an identity theft ring. In a complain filed in U.S. District Court in Rochester, Charles B. Curry Jr. and Shameika Drain Curry were charged with identity theft.

The couple stole the identity of several people, including Ashanti and Long, to purchase cars, obtain credit cards and write bogus checks.

To secure a $36,000 loan and purchase a 2003-Honda Infinity, Shameika Curry allegedly impersonated Ashanti. Shameika was also alleged to have impersonated Nia Long to write and cash a check for $8,300 made out to a cleaning service Curry runs.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard A. Resnick, if the couple is convicted, they will face a $1 million fine and a maximum penalty of up to 30 years in prison.

Murder, murder, my mind state, shit ain't change since my last rhyme
The crime rate ain't decline
Niggaz bustin' shots like they lost they mind
Like twenty-five to life never crossed they mind
Tell me young nigga never learned a thang
Dead at thirteen cause he yearned to bang
Sent a lot of flowers, but how could I cry
Tried to warn the little nigga, either stop or die
Mercy is for the weak, when I speak I scream
Afraid to sleep, I'm havin' crazy dreams
Vivid pictures of my enemies and family times
God forgive me cause it's wrong, but I plan to die
Need to take me in heaven and understand I was a G
Did the best I could, raised in insanity
Or send me to hell cause I ain't beggin' for my life
Ain't nothing worse than this cursed ass hopeless life, I'm troublesome...
