River Reserve banner here About River Reserve While River Reserve has some exhibits that are set up for permanent residents our main facilities are set about preparing animals to release to wild. This is a new venture, tagging on to our already existing aim of rehabilitating all animals that come through our gates. Some inhabitants of our release to wild program sadly are too human friendly to be released - however they become part of our breeding group Meet the animals - Individual images of our animals will go here- The Map ![]() To the left side is our standard zoo exhibits including the European special. To the right is our rehab and release center. The buildings with the mustang in on its own (far bottom left) is our vet area. Into Europe These exhibits focus primarily on the european animals, or even more specifically UK natives such as Red Deer, Exmoor Pony and a European badger (being replaced with something else) The Into Europe exhibit is dedicated to showcasing animals that appear in Europe that may have disappeared. Due to the secretive nature of these animals the whole exhibit is based inside, though the animals get plenty of light through the wire sided building. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Horse Paddock This features a lot of the horses - though recently it has undergone expansion and the river re-routed (no pictures currently). Next on the redevelopment list of tasks to do is give them an inside stabled area where they can fully escape from guest view. ![]() The mustangs are all rescued from the horse round ups before they could be broken or sent to slaughter. More pictures coming soon of some of the redevelopment, and our successfully fun primate exhibit. |

Update with more images - hopefully this isn't going to break any rules ^.^:;![]() Here we have the much larger horse exhibit, it also features a few texas long horn cows as well as some shires that were saved by the A.S.P.C.A from poor conditions. These might eventually be adopted out once they've been rehabilitated sufficiently. Into the prepare for Wild Zone Animals here are mainly being prepared for release to the wild. Though the first two shown are two of our three Florida Panthers. These three (1 Male, Two Females) are permanent stayers within the prepare for wild zone. They were caught in a snare trap and as thus can't be released. However with them knowing how to hunt they can pass on vital skills to their offspring - which can then be released out to the wild. ![]() The two pictured are known as Kaela and Michelle, both females. The male - Vidran - was sleeping in the private area which we figured we'd leave him be. ![]() Here we visited the exhibit opposite the Florida Panthers which are the Pere's David Deer. There is a total of 5 currently in the exhibit, including 2 babies which when matured will be released to the wild. ![]() European animals are placed in this area, and include Red Deer, European Muffoulon, Capercaille, and Exmoor Ponies. All animals here are being prepared to be released to safe areas in the wild, though some of the Red Deer will end up in deer parks - namely those in the uk on National Trust property. ![]() And here we see one of the 3 Javan Rinos that will be permanent residents, as well as the rear end of one of the 3 Tapirs. All offspring will be safely released to the wild ![]() This is our vet clinic, rescue helipad and the zoo vets staffroom, here we can treat sick or injured animals before placing them back in their homes. Monkey Mayhem This is our finished Monkey House, home to Orangutangs, Chimpanzees and Mountain Gorilla's. We're building a second one nearby that will include Crested Gibbons and Western Gorilla's (will check that) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks Jhughes - having that type of theme tells me what animals I'll be prepping for wild in, as well as keeping 'like' habitated animals together. Though not all areas have a place theme. |

This is so cool. I like your exhibits, especially the wetlands and grassland ones. (May I ask where you got the Shire's and Pere David's Deer) |

Thanks - I'm working on another part of the zoo known as the adoption area. This is for some animals like the mustangs and shires which have been retrained. |

I really like the gates that you used to make it seem much more like a protective sanctuary than an animal prison lol |

Thanks - I didn't want to use brick as I felt it'd be too enclosing whereas the wood looks more natural |
