Welcome to the Lilydale Wildlife Park! Unfortunately the Park is still currently under construction. The zoo is still in its early months of being created however we hope that by showing people our current exhibits will inspire them to keeping looking to see if we release more exhibits.

-Zoo Dirctor Canis Lycaon

The Current Exhibits:

-An African Forest Clearing-
This exhibit was designed to let guests explore the magical wonders of Africa's Congo Rainforest. We currently have two exhibits of this section of the zoo ready. The current exhibit is the Giraffe Paddock home to 2 Reticulated Giraffe & the Crocodile Forest Stream Exhibit home to 2 Nile Crocodiles. In future this section of the zoo will also hold Okapi, Bongo, Drill, Pygmy Hippopotamus & a few different bird species.

At first glance the Giraffe Paddock looks little more then a small field of grass in a wooden enclosure. However this exhibit actually also has a small pond and a rather large indoor area for the Giraffe's.

Posted Image
The pond is small and covered in Moss and algae however these are fake. It was designed to make the exhibit look more realistic. This is the Giraffe's main source of water.

Posted Image
Inside the Giraffe House it is mainly covered in foliage to try and match the Congo Jungles ravenously growing plants. They crawl from the concrete ceiling and walls. There is also too small water tubs to keep the giraffe's hydrated and all the plants are edible.

The Crocodile Forest Stream:

This exhibit is designed to educate guests about the commonly known Nile Crocodile. In this exhibit there is a pair of crocs as they are fondly known as living in a small forest stream along side a sand bank.

The sandbank in the exhibit was specialy made so the crocodiles could have a small place to warm up in the sun and to inform guests more about the different habitats or homes of animals in the Congo Jungle.

OVERVIEW:

As you can see a lot of the exhibit is made up of the small stream and foliage. However it may seem as though there is to much but remember to Congo is crawling with plants everywhere. The crocodiles themselves are most commonly either in the river or in the foliage in fact.

More Comming Soon...

Actually it isn't. You can see the main part of the exhibit and the Giraffe's (When they're outside.) very clearly. :)

Smart thinking with the sandbar, what I really like though is how the 'C' shaped part of the river that not only adds realisim but provides refuge so the crocs can wallow in peace good job!
