The Garfield Park Zoo opened in 1946 in historic Garfield Park, California. The mild climate of the area means that a variety of species can survive in the park's expansive zoo. Its main objective was to preserve and protect critically endangered species, but when a wild animal park donated herds of common hoofstock to the zoo, species of all walks of life were admitted into the zoo, ranging from zebras to rhinoceros to lemurs. The zoo's first residents were a pair of spectacled bears, which quickly became the mascot of the zoo. However, the bears passed away; construction on a new spectacled bear exhibit is scheduled to begin in early 2010.

Zoo Residents:
White rhinoceros
Scimitar-horned oryx
Spanish lynx
California sea lion
Ring-tailed lemur
Indri
White-breasted mesite
Gemsbok
Warthog
Common zebra
Wildebeest
Thomson's gazelle
White pelican

Coming Soon:
Spectacled bear
Wild boar
Cuvier's gazelle
Drill

Starting a S&T :

  • Pictures:
Before you open an S&T, you should have pictures as proof you're actually going to work on your S&T.

  • Teaser Showing :
If you want to show a teaser of your next S&T, but you don't want to post the update yet, you can open a topic and post the teaser. Altough, the teaser should have ZT2 content in it.
For a period of 5 days, you can show the teaser and people can discuss it.  After 5 days you can choose post the first update ore let it close untill you feel ready to post the update.

Thank you, guys; a special thanks to Iben for re-opening this topic. Sorry for the misunderstanding, buddy. :)

Anyway, who wants to start the zoo tour? *raises hand* I know I do. :P

Well, you've heard enough of the history of the zoo, and you have some idea of what to expect, but let's begin, shall we?

Wow, thanks CJ! :D I must say, before I forget, that my old friend Jaguar was my biggest inspiration for this zoo. So, thanks Jag. :)

When some more people post, we'll get to see the next few exhibits. :)

Oh wow. These keep getting better and better. The best one has to be the Scimitar Horned Oryx exhibit.

The Dwarf Cassowary exhibit is amazing with all the natural foliage, and the Scimitar Horned Oryx's exhibit doesn't have too much foliage in my opinion, maybe it could be an oasis setting.
